Chapter 27: Demon
Chapter 27: Demon
"kugh!" Luther coughed up blood, his vision blurring as he looked at Korg. ’what the hell is going on here? What is this feeling, what is this thing in front of me?’
"What connection do you have with a goddess?" Korg asked, his tone low but filled with murderous intent.
Luther’s eyes snapped opened, he finally put the pieces together, "a demon?" He asked weakly.
The demon didn’t reply, it just smirked , removing its arm from his body as he collapsed. "we have many questions for you, so come along quietly."
The stadium was silent, everyone was confused at what they were witnessing. Luna and the girls wasted no time jumping into the arena, knowing well what that aura coming off Korg was. Many other hunters also jumped into the arena, ready to help.
The demon girl watched from her seat, pissed that their leader did that. "what are you doing?" She asked, looking at him.
"Relax, he will live." He replied casually, using Korg’s body to pick him up as he noticed all the people in the arena now. ’hmph, humans-’ He sensed a power build up from Luther and he immediately dropped him, jumping back reflexively.
’what was that just now?’ He questioned, his body trembling slightly.
Luther got up, his wound covered in ice. He looked back at the people trying to help, "everyone stay back, this is still my match." He said, his body clearly injured and tired.
"But-" Luna tried to speak but he quickly shut her down.
"Not now please, this is personal now."
The other hunters looked at each other and then at the announcer who looked at a noble man wearing a red suit. ’what is the boy planning?’ He thought before nodding, allowing the match to continue.
"The match shall continue!!" The announcer said but even he was not sure this was the right call.
The people watching were also quiet now, worried that this might end with Luther’s death. The tournament is supposed to be fun, not whatever was happening right now.
"Trying to take me on alone? Brave but foolish, you are too weakened to even put up a proper fight." The demon said, licking his lips like a lunatic.
’Dammit, I could heal this wound using the absorption method but that would be revealing too much, I will just heal it internally, just enough move around.’ He used the mana he got from the void render. The pain in his body went down just enough to a point where people could not tell.
The demon watched him closely, surprised that he was still standing despite the severe wound. The ice covering his injury had stopped the bleeding, but he was clearly in pain.
"You’re stubborn," the demon said.. "But stubbornness won’t save you."
Luther took a deep breath and focused his energy. The crowd watched in nervous silence as he stepped forward.
"I don’t know what you want with me, but I’m not going anywhere with you."
The demon laughed. "You have no choice. Your connection to a goddess makes you valuable to us."
"So, where is your real body? Somewhere in the-"
The demon moved with incredible speed, faster than Korg had been earlier. It attacked with ice spears from multiple directions. He dodged many of them, but his movements were slower now because of his injury.
One spear caught his leg, causing him to stumble. The demon used this chance to appear behind him, ready to strike.
"Too slow," it hissed.
But he had anticipated this. As the demon attacked, he spun around and caught its arm. Using the demon’s own momentum, he threw it across the arena.
The demon crashed into the wall but quickly recovered. It looked at Luther with newfound respect.
"Impressive for a human," it said. "But you’re still bleeding internally. I can smell it."
Luna and the others watched anxiously from the edge of the arena. They wanted to help, but they respected his wish to fight alone.
"Something’s wrong with Korg," one of the hunters whispered. "His energy feels completely different."
The demon gathered a massive amount of ice energy, forming a swirling vortex around itself. The temperature in the arena dropped dramatically.
"Enough playing around," it growled. "I’ll finish this now."
Luther stood his ground, gathering his own energy. Yellow mana swirled around his fists, mixing with the ice element he had copied.
The demon launched forward, the ice vortex expanding outward like a tidal wave. Luther met it head-on, his mana creating a shield around him.
When the two forces collided, a blinding light filled the arena. The crowd shielded their eyes, unable to see what was happening.
When the light faded, both fighters were still standing, but barely. The demon looked shocked that Luther had survived its attack.
"What are you?" it asked again.
He didn’t answer. Instead, he moved forward, each step leaving a trail of frost on the ground. His wound was still bleeding, but his determination kept him going.
The demon tried to create more ice weapons, but he was faster now. He closed the distance between them and landed a powerful punch on the demon’s chest.
’Kugh, he is putting his body in so much pain just to hit me?’
The demon gasped as it felt something strange happening. His attack wasn’t just physical—it was draining the demon’s energy.
"How are you doing this?" the demon asked, struggling to break free.
His eyes glowed briefly. "You’re not the only one with tricks."
With a final surge of power, he pulled the demon aura out of Korg’s body, disappearing into thin air. Korg collapsed to the ground, unconscious but alive.
He stood victorious, but the effort had taken its toll. He fell to his knees, breathing heavily.
The crowd erupted in cheers, not fully understanding what they had witnessed but knowing they had seen something extraordinary.
Luna and the girls rushed to his side. "You need healing," Luna said urgently.
He nodded weakly. "That would be great."
From the stands, the demon leader watched with a mixture of anger and fascination. "He broke my control...," he said to the demon girl. "How is that possible?"
The demon girl just smiled without saying anything.
As healers rushed to the arena, Luther looked up at the stands, directly at where the demon leader and girl were sitting. His eyes met theirs, showing he knew they were there.
The demon leader held his gaze for a moment before turning away. "This isn’t over," he muttered.
’So it was you huh?’ He thought, looking at the demon girl before passing out.
He was carried off the arena on a stretcher, declared the winner of the match. As he left, the crowd chanted his name, unaware of the true battle that had just taken place.
The tournament officials gathered, discussing the strange events. None of them had ever seen anything like it.
The noble in a red suit got up, a small smile on his face, "Once he wakes up, inform me immediately. I would love to speak to this boy myself."
