Chapter 755: Chapter 399 Sky Body Magic and Burning Magic_2

"What a drag. I’ve waited for a thousand years here, and prepared a scare that would last a thousand years, only for you to expose it straight away."

Ivita looked at it utterly disappointed, and could only follow the creature’s narrative. "Yes, your entrance was very impressive and scared me quite a bit. So, how do I proceed to the next level of the library?"

The Treasure Chest Monster seemed pleasantly surprised. "So, I’m not entirely useless after all. You’ve spoken the truth, once you’ve passed the first test, it’s only fair to reward you with entry to the next level."

"The second floor is filled with volumes of spell books—eight thousand in total, but if you’re able to memorize just a thousand of them in full, you’ll be permitted access to the final level—the level housing the truly valuable books."

Ivita arched an eyebrow.

After all, even just memorizing a thousand spell books—without necessarily understanding them—was an absolutely ludicrous idea.

Conqueror Shaw must be gauging the ability of the explorer.

For the first level, any great wizard might brute-force their way through with enough time.

But on this second level, the average great wizard wouldn’t be able to master a thousand complete spell systems—the capacity of human memory has its limits. Only those wizards possessing a Light Soul could possibly deconstruct spell books into normal books, achieving this feat is no easy task.

The Treasure Chest Monster gazed at Ivita with an expression that seemed to anticipate some form of entertainment. The terms were so harsh, it seemed almost impossible for any human to achieve.

The Creature spoke again to Ivita, "If you choose to abandon your purpose to reach the next floor, I can take you out of here anytime, and you’re always welcome to visit again—you just won’t be able to fall deeper in. The volumes on this level are already incredibly valuable. Most of the spell books can be considered average, but amongst them are a few that are very potent, ones you would never find anywhere outside."

"If you’re willing to drop by more frequently, I might just be around to help you out and show you some of these spell books."

Ivita did not look at the Creature. "Treasure Chest Monster, you’ve studied magic too, right? You seem like a pretty good high-ranking wizard to me."

The Treasure Chest Monster laughed boisterously, chest puffed out with pride. "Absolutely. Some of the spell books here are very powerful. If they’re not guarded by a being of higher wizarding age, these books wouldn’t be able to control themselves."

Ivita nodded approvingly. "I’ll take comfort in that. Get ready—I’m starting now."

The Treasure Chest Monster let out a surprised ’ah’, "Wh...what did you say?"

In the next instant,

Ivita employed the Hand of Mana to simultaneously extract two hundred spell books. Many of the books began to struggle like animated creatures, trying to break free from the Hand of Mana and scamper away.

The rest of the spell books, witnessing this, seemed to grow envious and started a mutiny.

The Treasure Chest Monster was about to explode. It cried out distractingly and then struggled to conjure magic, attempting to control the books that had broken free of their chains and run off the racks.

"You wizard, what do you think you’re doing? If you want to read, just read nicely. Why take down so many books at once? These little devils are all rebellious. I’ve had to put in so much effort just to get them to stay put on the rack."

Ivita, on the other hand, couldn’t care less.

Reading so many spell books at the same time exerted a lot of pressure on him.

Consequently, he decided to immerse himself wholly in reading these spell books.

’As expected, not all spell books are created equal, some are powerful while others are weak.’

’For the third layer, I can take things at my own pace.’

It didn’t take long for Ivita to realize that even though they all involved memorizing a thousand spells, the task of remembering a thousand advanced spells is completely incomparable to remembering a thousand simple ones.

Approximately half a day later, Ivita had committed two hundred apprentice-level spells to memory.

He returned the two hundred volumes of magic books to the shelf, and locked them with iron chains.

He stood on the floor, his eyes closed. "Though it would only take me two or three days to learn all the low-level spells, it would be a massive waste of time."

"Although I’ve grasped two hundred of the basic spells, it’s enough for my worldview. It doesn’t play much of a significant role for me."

"Now I must begin reading the official wizard-grade spell books."

With this thought in mind, Ivita used the Hand of Mana to grab fifty official wizard spell books, and scanned them extensively with his Light Soul.

The treasure chest monster, who was originally intending to chat idly with Ivita, was instantly filled with criticism upon seeing this scene. "Is this guy really reading? Why can he read so fast!"

"Maybe he’s just pretending?"

"Damn, after waiting so long for someone to come, he didn’t even ask me a single instructive question."

This time, it took Ivita five days to read through fifty authentic Wizard-level spell books. But this only meant he was aware of their contents, not that he understood how to utilize them.

That’s because Ivita had only read them once, without formally studying them.

However, just doing this much made him feel enlightened, giving him an incredibly intimate sense of magic.

This prompted him to review his existing magic and start looking for any potential gaps or shortcomings.

Next, Ivita began to read even higher-level spell books.

On the shelves of the second underground level, there were several spells that had caught Ivita’s attention. These spells, from the Ancient Civilization Period, were all restricted-level magic.

One of the spells was called [Burning Magic].

This might seem like an ordinary spell, but it was a magic that enhanced magical power by burning the caster’s lifespan.

The terrifying aspect of this spell was that a person who burned their own lifespan for power would easily forget to check how much lifespan they had left, potentially resulting in them turning to ash.

However, this spell was used in the Ancient Civilization to break through the limit of magic.

It was essential when advancing to the rank of Witch Marquis.

The second spell was [Sky Body Magic].

This magic allowed both wizards and witches to transform into giants of the world, intensifying their magic in all directions.

However, it seemed that most of the materials needed to learn this spell could no longer be found in this age.

Otherwise, if Ivita was to use this spell, it would undoubtedly have a world-destroying effect.

"The three most important materials are hard to find in the Magic Black Forest now."

Ivita looked at the missing materials and said, "The heart stone from the birth of the world, along with two auxiliary materials, the Heaven-questioning Flower and the Sun Moon Grass. Legend has it that the Heaven-questioning Flower can foretell the past and future with extreme accuracy, often used by primitive wizards in the prehistoric civilizations to predict the future. Because of this, several major prophecies affecting the present age have been left behind."

"And the Sun Moon Grass, reportedly formed from the remnants of the dead sun and moon, is a special magic material so rare that it’s uncertain if it still exists in this world."

Ivita began to think. "It seems learning Sky Body Magic is impossible now. Otherwise, after mastering it, I might be able to compete with the Witch Queens."

"However, I can learn Burning Magic. This spell doesn’t require any magic materials, it’s just highly dangerous."

"I should wait until I leave the library, then find a safe place to study it."

Ten days had passed, and Ivita realized he had only remembered three hundred spell books.

As expected, the books on the second level were much better than those on the first.

Just as Ivita was about to continue reading, he suddenly heard an overjoyed voice echoing in the air.

Ivita looked up to see a portal appearing in the middle of the second floor library.

"Hahaha... Knowledge, here I come..." An hysterical woman’s voice rang out. "Ah, these are all spell books, oh my god, this is wonderful, they’re all mine. All mine."

"Ahahahaha~"

Ivita silently watched this woman.

’This woman has actually managed to enter the library, could it be that she’s related to the Sun God Sect?’

’Good, I’ll capture her and interrogate her thoroughly. Then I’ll know everything.’
