Chapter 722: Chapter 384 Iron Crown chooses the successor!!_1

On the tremendous stone wall, many half-bodied people, only half the size of a regular human, were visible. Each one of them had belly swelling as though they were pregnant, appearing very large.

Upon seeing Ivita, they all pointed at him, their faces filled with terror.

In Ivita’s eyes, these half-bodied people living on the well’s stone wall were like cliff-dwelling deer, leading hard lives.

But why did they choose to live here?

Ivita, who transformed into a peregrine falcon, landed on their houses. Then he leaped down, landing on the steps next to the rock wall houses, returning to his human form.

Looking at this group of rolly-polly half-bodied people, he stated, "I am the new ruler of the Upper City."

He raised his right hand, and there was a large ring representing his governor status. The ring, pitch-black, bore a turtle-shell design. "I ask you, who are you and why are you here?"

The half-bodied people showed a fearful reverence, as though Ivita could swallow them whole.

Soon, an elderly half-bodied three-legged man emerged from the crowd. His belly was also swollen like he was pregnant.

The elderly half-bodied village chief struggled to bow to Ivita. "This is the Rock Tribe Half-Human Village in the Upper City water well district, my lord, and I am the elder of this village. Every time the ruler of the Upper City changes, they always surprisingly come here and inquire about our identity. We, the half-bodied, enjoy residing on cliff faces and our food is water. Sixty years ago, we were a group of half-bodied people invited by Marco Anson to live here."

The elderly half-bodied village chief pointed to the misty flow deep within the water well, "My lord, you see, at the deepest part of that well, there is a very heavy book."

"That is the original form of the law created by Marco Anson."

"The Seven Seas Law Code."

"Below this codex, there’s a fountain that occasionally erupts violently with a gush of air, which could devour normal humans. Approximately every July, the fountain erupts. At that time, we consume large amounts of the erupted water, keeping the water level in a safe range, and preventing the fountain water from spouting."

The elderly half-bodied person spoke with pride, "Although we, the half-bodied, do not understand what the fountain is, we do know that if it erupts, the entire Upper City will be in grave danger."

"We have been living here for sixty years and have never let the fountain erupt."

Ivita glanced over at the water level the old half-bodied man pointed to, realizing that the so-called water level was actually where these half-bodied people’s houses were located.

In other words, if the Divine Spring Law were to erupt, all these half-bodied people would die.

The eruption of the fountain is, of course, a reference to the revolt of the Divine Spring Law. Marco Anson, in order to prevent this from happening, had invited the rock-dwelling half-bodied folk, who have always consumed water for generations, to make sure that the water of the Divine Spring always stays below the waterline.

Ivita swept his eyes over the boiling water mist deep below the well and the law code within the mist.

"So this is the original form of The Law."

"But now that I hold both the Divine Spring Law and the Seven Seas Law Code at the same time, I don’t need to abolish either. The Divine Spring Law can be entirely planted elsewhere, allowing the Seven Seas Law Code to continue controlling Cross Island is a good choice. Especially now, as I urgently need the Seven Seas Law Code to rule over the entire island."

Ivita turned and extended his right hand to the village chief from amongst the half-bodied people, "Therefore, I need you all to take an oath of loyalty to me anew."

The village chief of the half-bodied people knelt down with practiced ease. "My lord, does this mean we are still exempted from military service, taxes, and labor, just like before?"

Ivita grinned at him without answering.

But not getting any answer was tantamount to an affirmation.

Seeing that Ivita remained silent, the elderly half-bodied village chief knelt on the floor uneasily, kissing the governor’s ring on Ivita’s right hand that represented his status. "I am willing to pledge loyalty to you."

Following this, all other half-bodied people did the same.

Seeing this, Ivita transformed back into a peregrine falcon and flew away.

Transforming back into a human form by the well, he said to the Hearthstone Witch, "Have Chino Kennedy deploy two hundred people for patrol here."

The Hearthstone Witch blinked at Ivita and said, "Your majesty, you can now create physical avatars."

"Could you try taking off your little finger?"

Ivita cast the Hearthstone Witch a dubious look, and without hesitation, removed his little finger, whereupon blood gushed forth, and the little finger showed no changes.

Ivita furrowed his brows and put his little finger back on his palm, gazing bewilderingly at the Hearthstone Witch.

The Hearthstone Witch hurriedly waved her hands and said, "Eh, you have to use the Light Soul before you sever your finger."

"The Light Soul is conscious, so you can endow your limbs with consciousness through it."

Ivita scowled, feeling the energy of his Light Soul. Suddenly an increased brightness appeared within a five-meter radius around him, just like being illuminated by two suns simultaneously.

At the same time, Ivita removed a segment of his finger and tossed it on the ground.

After just a while, the severed finger stood up. It seemed to possess self-awareness and started to crawl on the ground like an insect, even rotating around a certain point, seeming to want to express something.

Ivita detected a faint connection between him and his severed finger.
