Chapter 471: Chapter 283 Knocking on the Gate! Border City! The Great Wall of the Pirate World!!_2
Captain Sam ran over to inform Ivita, the Hearthstone Witch, and Wilson, saying, "Boss, those are not pirate ships, but public ships from the Transfer Port. The Pirate Republic originally had a vast bureaucratic machinery for centralization of power, but with the death of Marco Anson, most of these institutions were abandoned."
"However, a portion of the bureaucratic structure still remains."
"Those code flags represent that these ships belong to the official fleet of the Transfer Port."
Ivita furrowed his brows, wondering what this official fleet was doing as they were about to approach the Transit Sea?
When the two fleets met, a portly official wearing a tricorn hat stepped out onto the deck of the flagship of the Transfer Port’s fleet. He looked at Ivita and the others with an insincere smile, then shouted, "You are the ones who sailed from Lahaina Town in the Republic of Belisarius, land-dwellers. I am the port administrator of the Transfer Port. You cannot proceed any further. This is ordered by the Governor. He explicitly stated that only you lot are not allowed to enter the Transfer Port."
"Please turn back."
The faces on the ship turned sour.
It was clear they were being targeted. The management of the Transfer Port was usually lax, and as long as they flew the black flag they could enter. Why had they suddenly decided to restrict them?
It had to be the Valji Family stirring things up.
Ivita glanced at Wilson and Vampire Wilson responded with a smile. His eyes, however, were cold and murderous as he questioned the port administrator, "May I ask why, in a world of pirates that has always been accepting of people from different countries, we are not allowed to enter?"
The administrator grimaced impatiently, "If you can’t enter, you can’t enter. No reason."
"If you dare to break in, that’s a breach of customs."
"It’s your call."
Soon, another ship coming from afar approached. The Valji Family’s black flag flew on it.
The two stewards on the deck of that ship wore smug smiles. They exchanged a look with the port administrator of the Transfer Port across hundreds of meters of sea, and laughter curved their lips.
The two stewards from the Valji family smirked triumphantly, looking contemptuously at Ivita and his crew, a hint of hostility appearing in their eyes.
This time, they had bribed the officers of the Transfer Port. Naturally, the officers would side with them.
These barbaric fools, what could they do with all their combat might?
How could they breach the customs?
These were the mighty walls which neither The Three Republics, the Mamuruk Kingdom that worshiped the God of all Beasts, nor the navy of Selzhu - Rome Empire were able to penetrate. The Transfer Port could be said to be one of the most impregnable port cities in the world.
In the eyes of the two stewards, fighting and killing didn’t mean much. Power was everything.
All they had to do was bribe the governor of Transfer Port. The governor, using some petty power, was able to stop Ivita and his crew who fought their way here against many odds.
Oh, the allure of power.
The two stewards of the Valji family then arrogantly looked down on Ivita and his crew, "Are you the bunch of robbers trying to reclaim your territory? If you agree to turn back now and leave the Black Sea, our lordship states that we can compensate you with 600 gold pounds."
Wilson glanced at Ivita, and after getting a nod, he sneered at the two stewards of the Valji family, "Under the laws of the kingdom and nobility, your family has illegally occupied the territory of my lord, Ivita."
"I advise you to return the territory immediately."
"We don’t lack money. Moreover, your family has, to a great extent, been occupying my lord’s territory, so you owe him compensation for the use of these two areas. In other words, you should be paying my lord money."
"My lord, how much in gold pounds should they pay you?"
Ivita lowered his head and casually stated a price they couldn’t afford, to provoke them.
"One hundred thousand gold pounds."
The faces of the two stewards darkened upon hearing this figure. Even mentioning such an amount was like stabbing them in their lungs.
"He’s crazy, utterly mad. One hundred thousand gold pounds! Even if we liquidate our assets, we won’t have that much cash."
"Why are you even considering it? Don’t forget, they can’t even enter the Transfer Port."
The two men looked at the port administrator of the Transfer Port and immediately felt reassured. After all, it was impossible for Ivita and his crew to collide directly with the whole border city of the Pirate World. That would be seeking self-destruction, like an egg crashing against a rock.
One of the stewards arrogant looked at Ivita standing next to Wilson, and began shouting, "You madman. We’re giving you a way to step down, yet you dare to make such outrageous demands. Today, you can’t even adva—"
A rumble of thunder echoed in the sky and dark clouds began to gather.
The steward, who was shouting at Ivita, was startled. But he quickly regained his composure, thinking Ivita wouldn’t dare take action.
He continued to address Ivita, "You won’t kill me. You can’t scare me with empty threats, I am backed by—"
Lightning suddenly struck from the sky, with a Thunder Snake flashing in and out of visibility.
