Chapter 465: Chapter 280: Substitute Sacrifice, The Mistakes of Valji Family _1

A subsidiary race?

Ivita was momentarily taken aback because the opposite party appeared to view him as a form of deity, perhaps as some kind of Evil God. If the so-called ’Mother of the Sea’ really was a god of the ocean, these Naga People wouldn’t be so weak.

He guessed that the ’Mother of the Sea’ was likely just an Evil God that had somehow been birthed from the depths of the ocean, akin to the Black Granny.

The remaining seven Naga Priests took the initative to blow their sea conch, causing water spikes to erupt from the surface of the sea, attacking the seagulls that were observing them from above. As the seagulls fell as corpses into the sea, the Naga forces gradually started to retreat from the ship where Ivita and his crew were.

Captain Sam and the other captains hurriedly ordered their sailors to manage the sails. They needed to quickly regroup on the Floating Sea, and then assess their losses.

The Nagas, on the other hand, did not bother to collect the bodies of their companions. Instead, they let their fallen friends drift into the deep sea, where the bodies disappeared without a trace.

The Naga were likely a race that practiced sea burials.

About fifteen minutes later, the Naga priests with the remaining four hundred or so of their tribesmen gradually converged towards the Britannia.

It was only then Ivita realized, in order to confront them, the Naga Tribe seemed to have mobilized all their forces, and the Naga who had attacked them previously were just a small part of the whole.

More Naga were hiding behind the unique ledge of the Floating Sea.

Previously, they were probably planning an ambush, but due to the Bullhead Sea Monster and Ivita’s Lord Crown Firebird Magic and Thunder Dragon Magic, the ambushers felt deterred from revealing themselves.

Still, Ivita understood that if the group of Naga, who lacked any professional ranking, truly charged into battle furiously, it could bring about massive losses on his side, possibly resulting in the death of nearly all ships and sailors in the heat of the battle.

He and the Hearthstone Witch, however, could kill them.

This was likely the outcome the Valji Family were hoping to see.

But the Valji Family did not expect the opposite party to detect the existence of the Feathered Serpent God from its own shadows, and contemplate abandoning their faith in ’Mother of the Sea’ to follow the new God.

This resulted in this tribe, which could have caused big trouble for him, potentially becoming an ally instead. Plus, the Naga should know something about the Valji family, and he could obtain accurate information about his enemies from them.

Ivita looked at the Naga with a blank expression, his tone was icy as he asked, "What did you mean by ’subsidiary race’ that you mentioned earlier?"

Priestess Gnarla Naga felt a certain fear towards Ivita. She lowered her head to the sea and spoke to Ivita who was standing on the deck of the flagship Britannia, "Oh great Lord, the subsidiary races are those sea nations that believe in the supreme God."

"In our original world, every God has its own subsidiary races. Each subsidiary race worships a single God."

"But pirates from Cross Island sailed here, invaded our homeland, broke into our Snake Man Islands, disrupted our society, stripped us of our wealth, and shipped us onto these seas as slaves. We stumbled and staggered here and gradually learned some common language. We then realized that this was not our world anymore."

"We have absolutely no idea of the maritime coordinates of our original world—the Snake Man Islands."

"We also can’t escape, because the Valji Family captured our leader and princess. We were blackmailed and almost had to give up everything."

Ivita frowned slightly.

The Hearthstone Witch spoke to Ivita, "Your Highness, these Nagas are likely from a minor world connected to the Black Sea. They were likely captured by pirates and kept here as a means of military force."

"As for the God they mentioned, it should be the Evil God."

"You should ask them about the circumstances of the Mother of the Sea."

Ivita then asked the Nagas the question proposed by the Hearthstone Witch.

Suddenly, Priestess Gnarla sighed. "The Mother of the Sea is a God that resides on a circular island where our Naga ancestors have lived for generations. According to our legends, she once drifted from the ocean, transformed into a goat to nurse our Naga ancestors. This allowed our tribe to survive, and so, we call her the Mother of the Sea."

"She is our Mother of the Sea."

Ivita and the Hearthstone Witch exchanged glances, both left speechless.

So, the Mother of the Sea turned out to be a goat. It seemed that all the chickens, dogs, and goats in the little world connected to the Black Sea had ascended, became deities, and turned into evil gods.

Priestess Gnarla said, "We didn’t wish to stop worshipping the Mother of the Sea, but her direct descendants have become puppets of the Valji Family. Before meeting you, we had no way to replace the Mother of the Sea."

"We pray to you, our great one, to accept us as your race."

Ivita was puzzled. "Naga People are strong. Even without.... even without gods, without priests, you should be able to live well. Why the need to be a race?"

Priestess Gnarla looked confused, as if greatly puzzled. "Great one, your wisdom, of course, does not need others to lead. You clearly see how the future should be planned. But we can’t."

"We need your wisdom to show us the way forward..."

Ivita shook her head, understanding at last.

The Naga Tribe was stuck in a primitive tribal belief phase.

They needed to have a god guiding them.

She had no choice but to tell them, "I will temporarily allow you to be my race."

"But if you continue to worship the Mother of the Sea, I won’t object either."

"The Valji Family owe me, and I feel they owe you a lot too. So, you can join me in demanding a reckoning from them!"

The Naga People looked at each other.

Great Ivita didn’t require them to abandon worshiping the Mother of the Sea, which meant they would have to worship two gods at the same time.

They had no prior experience in doing so.

But Priestess Gnarla quickly reacted to it and said to Ivita, "We are willing, we are willing."

"That damned family is also our enemy. From today onwards, we no longer need to help the Valji Family enslave our leader and her daughter."

"Great Lord Ivita, please accept the Daughter of the Sea’s offerings to you. You will receive all that the sea has to offer."

Ivita immediately felt something descend within her as over four hundred Naga began to worship her.

This seemed to be the Power of Faith.

Concerning the Power of Faith, there was still much she didn’t understand.

Ivita initially thought the notion of humans worshipping humans was absurd; after all, they were all mortal. However, as these individuals began to worship her, she felt a surge of power growing within her.

She didn’t know where this power came from, only that it was slowly enhancing her water magic powers.

Ivita didn’t notice that her shadow on the plank was shifting.

Ivita looked at the seagulls over the sea. ’I wonder why the Valji Family, intent on killing me and preventing me from getting near Cross Island, ended up reinforcing my troops twice.’

’Are they planning to sacrifice themselves, one by one, Calabash Brothers style? I wonder what they’re feeling right now.’
