Chapter 307: Chapter 198: Elemental Flower Blooms, Magic Tide and the Clan of Leopard Women_4
Francesca shook her head slightly, feeling that this order would only backfire.
Meanwhile, Milani sneered coldly.
The proportion of Hugo’s followers among the apprentice wizards in the Witch’s Graveyard was steadily declining. If it dropped any further, he might no longer be able to control the Graveyard as he does now.
After dismissing all the wizards here, Hugo left the graveyard and headed for Kappa Town.
Kappa Town was an exceptionally prosperous village with a population of over two thousand. Each resident lived happily and in abundance, treating their neighbors as brothers and sisters.
The streets were wide, with plenty of greenery in the middle, and each house was as big as a mansion.
For thousands of years, the Witches’ Graveyard had always protected this affluent town from falling into the hands of any external force.
Now, Hugo walked to the town center, where a church stood. On top of the church, a sacred number that represented the God of All Things, 4, was displayed.
Looking at the number, Hugo’s face darkened, but he still knocked on the church’s door.
The reason why the church was at the center of the town was that a town was usually developed around a particular structure, and then expanded slowly.
The first structure that was erected in Kappa Town was the church of the God of All Things.
The history of the Witches’ Graveyard predates Kappa Town. The Witches’ Graveyard was a secluded force with no town initially. But as time passed, descendants of the Wizard Group established a small town next to the Graveyard.
Hugo waited outside the church for a long time but never stepped through the entrance.
Soon, a priest, dressed in the white robes of the Church’s clerical staff, pushed open the magnificent iron door of the church. Behind him was the towering dome of the church and the colorful stained glass windows beneath it.
The priest had a square face and phoenix-shaped eyes.
With a smile on his face, the priest said to Hugo, "So, it’s you, Town Mayor. Why don’t you come inside and stay awhile? Why can’t you stop by our church whenever you pass and listen to the simple wishes of the townsfolk?"
Hugo looked at him coldly. "Don’t put on a sanctimonious act in front of me, Leopard Woman. That only makes you laughable. Does your god know you’re not human? Does he know you’re not a man?"
The smile disappeared from the priest’s face. There was a hint of anger, but thinking of Hugo’s status, the priest remained patient and politely said, "The God of All Things is the god of all lives, and everyone is a creature of the God."
"Therefore, the God of All Things doesn’t care whether I am human or a leopard woman from the Dark Night Race."
"Your God of All Things might not care. But the Church will." Hugo revealed peremptorily. "Let’s get straight to the point, enemies are planning to act against the Graveyard. We have been sheltering your Clan of Leopard Women for so long. It’s time for you to return the favor."
Hugo added, "I want your clan to help me kill all the enemies of the Graveyard."
"Otherwise, I’ll report your existence to the Church."
Unable to hold back any longer, the priest let out a roar. Surprisingly, the sound he made was not human but rather resembled a leopard’s roar.
The Leopard Women, although having male human bodies, transform into females when they morph into their leopard forms.
The priest roared, "You... dare to threaten me?"
"You, who dare not even enter the church, are going to report on me!"
"Hugo! Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been up to all this time."
He glared at Hugo, his face transforming slightly into that of a leopard, but deflated like a punctured balloon when he got close enough and said weakly, "Fine, we, the Clan of Leopard Women, will help you exterminate your enemies."
"But you absolutely may not report me."
Hugo smirked, "Relax, you are too useful for me to let the Church dispose of you."
"Members of the Clan of Leopard Women are born killers, even the Hunter Group can’t do anything about you. If you hadn’t offended the Church in the first place and been pursued by the Red Bishop, General Antioch, you wouldn’t have needed to beg for our protection like homeless dogs."
"The old Graveyard would never have treated us this way," the priest glared at him. "Please show us basic respect."
Hugo chuckled coldly. "Now, I am in charge."
"Every ruler is different. This is how I rule over you. Other than obeying my rules, what else can you do?"
Hugo turned and left.
