Chapter 292: Chapter 192: The Origin of the Wolf Clan and Racial Characteristics Test for Black Bear Man_1

The knight’s attendant with a severed right arm was a long-haired young man. He immediately said to Kristin, "Yes, I was wounded by the Alpha Wolf."

Kristin looked at his amputation wound and fell into thought.

Given the knight’s impressive healing ability, the wound had already stopped bleeding. If it had been a clean-cut injury, perhaps they could try reattaching the severed arm, possibly restoring some of the arm’s function.

However, the uneven wound inflicted by the Wolf King’s claws meant he had to give up on his right arm.

After observing for a while, Kristin stated, "Ah, I see."

Then, she seemed ready to leave just like that.

Ivita looked at her curiously and questioned, "You mentioned that anyone bitten or scratched by the Wolf King could potentially turn into a werewolf. Won’t you treat him?

Kristin replied, "Hmm, I did say that."

"But this guy hasn’t turned into a werewolf yet. Killing him now serves no purpose. Most people die before the transformation. Only a select few lucky ones become werewolves. Furthermore, it’s not about just physical strength, but the compatibility of the bloodline that determines the likelihood of transforming."

She spread her hands towards Ivita and said, "You’ve misunderstood me. I’m not an executioner. I don’t enjoy killing humans; I just like slaying werewolves. If he’s lucky enough to turn into a werewolf, it won’t be too late to kill him then. A newborn wolf, with no experience, won’t be difficult to handle."

Ivita nodded. So, it turned out that Kristin did not want to shed human blood unnecessarily.

Looking at the despairing knights, Ivita asked Kristin, "Is there truly no cure for werewolf venom?"

"You’re a hunter specializing in werewolves. Don’t you have any methods to counter the venom?"

Kristin sighed. She hadn’t intended to explain, but since it was Ivita asking, she answered patiently.

"The juice of Monkshood mixed with certain herbs can delay the venom’s effects. However, it only prolongs the inevitable death. Without the fresh blood of an Alpha Wolf, there’s no antidote."

Ivita looked puzzled. "The origin of werewolves is just a witch’s curse. He is a formal knight. Why can’t he undo the werewolf venom?"

"The severity of the werewolf venom depends on the Wolf King of the pack. It can’t kill an individual above its level. Unfortunately, the Wolf King of the Super Wolf Pack we just encountered happened to be at the level of a formal knight, or the second level," Kristin replied, seemingly regretful. "If that Wolf King had only been at the first level, their venom wouldn’t have been deadly to a formal knight."

"Moreover..."

Kristin looked up at the crescent moon and pointed towards it. "The curse that created the werewolf race, bestowed upon the first werewolf, the New Moon Werewolf, came from the Full Moon Queen. The venom was a curse she gave the werewolves as a way to intentionally torment the New Moon Werewolf."

"Legend has it, the Full Moon Queen’s sister met her end at the hands of the New Moon Werewolf. So she cursed him on the spot. At the time of the full moon, he would transform into the most powerful beast in the world. His power would cause him to lose his sanity and bite every loved one around him until he had destroyed his own family."

"Those who were bitten by a werewolf would experience insurmountable pain before their death, knowing there was no cure."

"This is the Full Moon Queen’s hatred for werewolves. She wanted the original werewolf to experience the pain of losing family."

"Her curse created a unique werewolf venom which is practically incurable at the same level. It’s one of the most frightening poisons in the world. Since a werewolf’s strength is linked to the full moon, the essence of the venom is the power of the moon."

Ivita suddenly remembered something. The Druids had managed to sever the connection between witches and the Dark Night Clan.

Probably because of that, the Full Moon Queen was no longer able to control the werewolves.

Kristin added, "Originally, the Full Moon Queen never intended to create an entire race. She merely wanted to make the original werewolf kill all his family members, live as a loner for a considerably long time. That’s why werewolves typically live for hundreds of years."

"However, something later happened, leading to the emergence of the werewolf race."

"At the height of his despair after killing all his family, the original werewolf found the Black Rose Fairy and made a wish to not be alone forever. Thus, the fairy granted him the ability to create new werewolves by scratching and biting. He could also establish a wolf pack to enhance his power."

"Thus, wolf packs were born."

Kristin’s face showed indifference. "That’s the history of werewolves. They form new social systems by killing their family, then establish werewolf social systems to replace human ones."

"Every new werewolf must kill one human, symbolizing their renouncement of all ties with human society and willingly joining the wolf pack."

Ivita suddenly understood. No wonder werewolves became a prominent race of the Dark Night Clan, because the witch who cursed them was one of the most powerful Witch Kings, and they received the system of wolf packs from the Black Rose Fairy, a master of Black Magic.

Ivita caught on to the main point. "So, are there werewolves who don’t want to kill humans and can thus not join any wolf pack?"
