Chapter 273: Chapter 182: Boots Cat makes an appearance, Gladiator profession, Hunter’s Hunting Arrow (7217)_3

"Gladiators could be considered a sub-category of the knight profession, rather than an independent profession. They are essentially a nostalgic occupation fashioned by the Senate using the Rule of the Gladiator, which emerged after the knight profession gained popularity."

The Ice Witch said to Ivita, "I don’t know the specifics because I have never crossed paths with them."

"If you ever find yourself at odds with them, you’ll quickly understand what the gladiator profession is."

"However, I believe that on the battlefield, these ’Berserk’ warriors with core skills do not know how to conserve their energy—they only know how to kill in the most frenzied way possible within the shortest time frame. They are indeed unfit for the battlefield, far less useful than the ordinary knights."

Ivita smirked.

What a nostalgic occupation indeed.

The Ice Witch’s analogy was quite amusing.

At this point, the musicians had stopped playing, and everyone at the ball had gathered around to watch Baron Taketick and Geoffrey Abbot, the son of a senator, exchange blows.

Their brawl went from one end of the ballroom to the other like two enraged bulls, with tables and chairs getting knocked over in their wake. At one point, Geoffrey Abbot, his eyes flaming with rage, charged straight at Baron Taketick. A couple who was in their way got knocked off their feet.

Geoffrey Abbot had managed to pin Baron Taketick against a wall so forcefully that it dented and cracked in multiple places. "Had enough?" he roared.

"Jenny is mine!"

Baron Taketick grunted, trapped against the wall with his chest pinned by his opponent. He managed to force a smile. "Jenny belongs to the Viscount."

"Once your Berserk skill wears off, you will die by my hand."

The chairman was at a loss, unsure how to stop the duel between the two men.

Just then, Jenny suddenly yelled at them. "Stop... Both of you."

"I hate you both!"

"What difference does it make who wins me over?"

"I am not a pigeon waiting to be hunted."

The chairman quickly interjected. "Jenny..."

Jenny finally mustered the courage to say, "I... I have loved someone else for a long time. All the balls, I have been waiting for him to appear, take off his mask, and tell me and my father that he wants to marry me."

"Neither Viscount Winchester nor any senator’s son has any relevance to me. I... A woman can only have one husband."

The chairman’s face turned a shade darker. "What nonsense are you spouting!"

At that moment, a short young man with abundant hair that made him look like a large black bear emerged from the crowd, removing his mask and tossing it on the floor. In fact, he appeared to possess a beast-like transformation feature.

He seemed moved. "Jenny, I’m sorry..."

"I was afraid, and I felt inferior because your father dislikes me. But I swear that I have been here every day, wearing a mask just to catch a glimpse of you from afar."

"For the past three months, I have been changing types of masks."

"A different new mask every day."

"I love you, Jenny. I should have... I’m sorry, I was too cowardly. I should have shown myself sooner, stood before you, and none of this farce would have happened."

Upon seeing the Black Bear Man, Jenny was overcome with joy, tears streaming down her face. She had not expected him to have been by her side all along.

Jenny sprinted over to him and embraced him, both sobbing together. "Maximilian Orem, you finally came."

"I had given my heart to you long ago. You’re the only one who cares about my feelings. I could never love anyone else."

Ivita was dumbfounded.

If his guess was correct, this Maximilian was the beast in the witch’s curse--the beast Jenny was forced to marry.

But she isn’t even fourteen yet.

Moreover, it seemed as though Jenny had actually fallen for this beast.

This was more complicated than he thought.

The nobility faction wanted to remove a major player in Ambros City by arranging a marriage between the Viscount and Jenny. The city faction wanted Jenny to marry the senator’s son, most likely due to some underlying benefits, something the city faction would love to see.

But both their plans fell through.

Because they had never considered Jenny’s personal feelings, they hadn’t expected Jenny to already have a lover, and that lover had shockingly appeared in front of everyone.

No, it was even more surprising that this lover was the beast the chairman had always wanted to get rid of.

Ivita took advantage of the commotion to look for Boots Cat in the crowd.

In all this chaos, where had he disappeared to?

Geoffrey Abbot, the senator’s son, glared at the Black Bear Man with bloodshot eyes. "This is the greatest humiliation. Let go of Jenny. She is my betrothed."

"This was promised to me by the city council."

The Black Bear Man kept silent, but Jenny fiercely retorted. "On what grounds are you saying that I’m your betrothed? You are the least entitled to do so. Let your city council and Senate go to hell. I have long belonged to Maximilian."

The senator’s son, Geoffrey Abbot, was so angry his fingers trembled. "You... you..."
