Ivita said to Milani, "I can direct the Spirit of the Tides to only attack people with magic power."
Milani gratefully glanced at Ivita.
Once the ceremony was completed and the evil spirits had dispersed, everyone in the courtyard let out a sigh of relief. Pan God said to Ivita, "Let your knight bring it to Kappa Town by carriage."
"Now we need to distribute the tasks. Who will stop Boots Cat? And who will stop the Iron Thorn Elf!"
Milani suddenly spoke, "I’m sorry, Francesca and I can’t help you."
"If we don’t return to the Witch Cemetery for a long period of time, we will arouse suspicions among the wizards and ancestors of the Witch Cemetery."
"But we will keep in touch with you all the time."
Milani pulled up the sleeve of her right arm, revealing a black butterfly tattoo on her fair skin. The tattoo’s wings fluttered slightly, then struggled to break free as if it were a butterfly trying to break free from its cocoon. Seeing the butterfly’s efforts, Ivita had the feeling that it may not make it.
However, in the end, the butterfly landed in front of Ivita and the others.
Milani told everyone, "This is the Contract Elf — the Black Reporting Butterfly — brought about by the unique Ash magic of the Witch Cemetery."
"Its greatest advantage is that it can deceive divination and exploratory magic. Apart from being discovered by the human eye, there is no way to sneak a peek at it."
Milani looked at Ivita. "The cemetery is full of wizards but lacks soldiers."
"Your army is bigger than the cemetery, so I plan to contact you with this butterfly."
"Seeing this butterfly means I’m contacting you, because in the Witch Cemetery, only I have the Black Reporting Butterfly."
With that, she took Francesca’s hand, stepped back, and then became a black smoke that shot into the sky, leaving the Witch Gathering venue.
Seeing them leave, Pan God was very pleased. He seemed not to have complete trust in Milani and Francesca.
Pan God said to Ivita, "I think we can’t totally trust them, either."
"So this Fishman attack on Kappa Town is also a test. A test to see whether they truly stand by our side."
"Their not participating in this interception operation is also a good thing."
Ivita wanted to speak, but the Old Witch spoke first, "I too feel the same. Even if they stand by us now out of passion, the fact remains that their kin are with the cemetery. Afraid Monday, out of some wicked, ugly conscience, they may betray us and go stand by the Witch Cemetery."
The Hearthstone Witch said, "We must be on guard."
Ivita shrugged, thought for a moment, and said, "For this mission the Hearthstone Witch and I will intercept Boots Cat, while the Ice Witch and Pan God will intercept the Iron Thorn Fairy."
Pan God looked at Ivita skeptically. "The power is unevenly distributed."
"You and the Old Witch are obviously weaker than the Ice Witch and me. How about this, I pair with you while the Hearthstone Witch pairs with the Ice Witch."
The Hearthstone Witch looked at the silent Ice Witch with a glare. "What part of her is stronger than me?"
"Just because she has the Snow Mountain Law?"
"I..."
The Ice Witch said calmly, as if she was not arguing, "As the agent of the Snow Mountain Law, I have almost the strongest ice magic."
"Indeed, you are not my match. That is a fact."
The Hearthstone Witch was almost bursting with anger.
Pan God understood why Ivita arranged the team this way. Ivita did not trust him.
Therefore, Ivita would rather pair with the Hearthstone Witch than with him.
Pan God said to Ivita, "If you are concerned about me, let’s do it this way: you pair with Ice Witch, and I pair with the Hearthstone Witch."
"The power distribution would be more balanced."
"There won’t be any accidents."
"Rest assured, I will bring back the Hearthstone Witch safe and sound."
Pan God looked thoughtfully at the Hearthstone Witch and Ivita. One thing had been bothering him: why was the Hearthstone Witch so respectful to Ivita, her student?
Perhaps, this action of his with the Old Witch could provide clues about Ivita’s identity.
Ivita thought for a while. He looked at the Ice Witch, then at the Hearthstone Witch, and asked in a low voice, "Are you sure you won’t be schemed against by Pan God?"
"Like having your will manipulated, or being killed."
The Hearthstone Witch was somewhat surprised to find that Ivita actually cared about her life and death.
As a witch loathed by all, hardly anyone ever cared about her voluntarily.
The Old Witch laughed and said unequivocally without hesitation, "I won’t be schemed against or manipulated by Pan God."
She whispered, "My Lord, you can safely send me. I will keep an eye on Pan God for you."
"If he has any wicked plans, I will leave before he makes a move."
"I guarantee that things will develop this way."
Ivita nodded. He also had full confidence in the Old Witch’s ability to save herself.
Given the Old Witch’s selfishness, it would be hard for Pan God to manipulate her.
She is already wicked enough. There is really no room for further wickedness.
