Chapter 241: Chapter 166: The Black Wing Death God Spear Legion of the Thirteen States, Black Iron Law (6560)_1
Ivita noticed that the envoys of the two factions seated at the table held high positions within the City Guild Faction and the noble faction.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t be their turn to receive reinforcements here.
Perhaps, they would know something about Kappa Town.
Ivita looked at Councillor Ando and Robert, then turned her gaze to Baron Taketick, saying, "I don’t know if you have heard of Kappa Town."
"Come to think of it, I have had quite some dealings with them lately."
Councillor Ando pondered for a moment, then turned to Robert with a look of confusion, "Is there anything special about Kappa Town? I’ve never heard of this town."
Robert considered this for a moment, and then suddenly said, "Oh, I remember now. There indeed is a small town nearby known for its textile industry, named Kappa Town. It has always puzzled me, how such a small and weak town, without the protection of any superior lords or cities, could preserve its wealth and maintain its independence."
Curiously, Robert Emon looked at Ivita and asked, "Dear Ivita, is there some issue with Kappa Town?"
Ivita didn’t want to keep Kappa Town a secret. It did no good to her. She bluntly replied, "Nothing much."
"That town once sent thirty apprentice wizards to kill me."
Everyone at the table fell silent, no one said a word.
The cause was their astonishment at two points.
Firstly, the fact that a mere small town could dispatch thirty wizard apprentices in one go wasn’t ordinary.
Secondly, Ivita actually survived the assassination attempt by these thirty wizard apprentices.
Regardless of the means she had used to accomplish this, it proved that Ivita was absolutely not to be trifled with.
Councillor Ando and Robert exchanged a glance, both paying more attention to Ivita, and a hint of dread for her emerged in their minds.
Similarly, the casual Baron Taketick, who was leisurely sipping his drink, his pupils suddenly contracted.
Baron Taketick said, "Speaking of which, I may know a thing or two about Kappa Town."
"I know that there’s a witch’s graveyard in Kappa Town, which is in alliance with some Flower Fairies."
"How did you know about this?" Councillor Ando found it somewhat amusing.
How could this carefree man know secret news that even he did not know of?
Baron Taketick cast a glance at Councillor Ando. "Perhaps in the eyes of some, I’m just a prodigal son, but in reality, this is just a difference of our origins."
He looked at Councillor Ando provocatively, "Once, in a certain place, I made a witch fall in love with me. She emptied her heart to me, telling me everything she knew, including things about Kappa Town. At the time, I thought she was lying, but now, from Ivita, I have come to know that it is true."
Councillor Ando laughed in disdain. "That’s an unconventional method."
Baron Taketick said with some anger, "The families of certain people can only acquire wealth by means of hard work, luck, and conspiracy, but my family can gain respect from others through ancient bloodlines and millenia-old traditions."
"I don’t need to work hard."
"On the contrary, if a noble doesn’t find places to spend his money, he is worthless to society."
"My profligate life is a fulfillment of my noble obligations."
"Some people should know that there are many women who deliberately try to seduce me, wishing to sleep with me just once, so their value could increase."
"They can then propagate everywhere that they have once been in bed with the cousin of Viscount Winchester – me, which would raise the level of those they can associate with."
"Likewise, my extravagance in every city I visit makes the local commoners rich."
Councillor Ando laughed out loud in frustration, "That’s really exhausting! But I guess Ivita and no one present here can understand your words."
This was because apart from him, there were no hereditary nobles present.
Baron Taketick said to Ivita, "But my friend – Ivita, is also a noble, the most orthodox noble."
"However, coming back to the matter at hand, if what the witch told me about Kappa Town is true, then Kappa Town is a force within Ambros Territory that cannot be ignored. Thankfully, they actually can’t wander too far from the town."
"Please, continue." Ivita turned to him.
Councillor Ando initially wanted to add something more, but seeing Ivita so interested in this subject, he discreetly chose not to say anything further.
Baron Taketick took a sip of his drink and carefully recalled. "The witch who once was fond of me was average in appearance and did not have any special hobbies. I quickly lost interest in her. Fortunately, she evidently wasn’t a good person either and also lost interest in me."
Ivita couldn’t help but exclaim.
I see now.
King of the Sea and Queen of the Sea, womanizer and woman...
You two really are a perfect match.
She continued to listen to the Baron’s words, and Baron Taketick said, "However, during the time when that witch was most in love with me, she told me that there was once a society that existed long before the founding of Viscount Ambrose’s Independent Country."
"This wizard society existed within the country even before its birth."
"But due to historical reasons, following a series of internal strife and strong enemies, this society began to weaken, and gradually chose to seclude themselves. They hid in a place called Kappa Town."
