Chapter 240: Chapter 165 The Origin of the Hunter Profession (4067)_2

These knights were, in reality, yet to truly submit to him.

However, he didn’t expect that these old friends of his father would embarrass him so much in front of others.

Baron Taketick’s face turned as white as paper.

Baron Taketick looked at Ivita, racking his brain to maintain his remaining dignity, but it felt like his mind was jammed. He wanted to speak, but his brain felt empty.

"Ivita... you..."

Baron Taketick almost wished he could find a crevice to crawl into.

Ivita glanced at him and then at the knights whose faces expressed a clear contempt for this guy, and instantly understood the situation

The control this brother has over his territory now is similar to when I first took over Baron Moro’s territory.

It isn’t enough to simply have a position in order to command people.

If power was that simple, then anyone could become a leader.

Although Ivita noticed that Baron Taketick was merely an empty title, he still expressed respect to the Baron at this time. After all, it was a favor he could afford to give.

Ivita looked at Baron Taketick seriously and said, "So, you are Baron Taketick. Nice to meet you."

"I wish I could have entertained you."

"But your subordinates are rude and unruly, causing trouble on my territory."

"Since you are the master of the Taketick family, I can only hold you accountable."

While this sounds confrontational, it’s actually praising him by emphasizing that he is the head of the Taketick family in such a setting.

Ivita’s words undoubtedly restored Baron Taketick’s confidence. He put on a frivolous smile and straightened his necktie, saying, "Dear Ivita, I felt an instant connection with you."

"If you visit the big city, I must show you all the hidden treasures."

"Lord Ivita, I apologize on behalf of my people, hoping you can forgive him and revoke your previous expulsion against us."

Ivita nodded.

He wasn’t foolish enough to really expel the Taketick family.

That behavior is inappropriate.

He didn’t want to be forced to take the city’s side and then be drawn into the war.

In a war, staying neutral is the wisest course of action.

Ivita eased up. "I accept your apology, Baron."

"And the young man’s apology as well, but I hope both sides won’t have any form of conflict on my territory. Can you do that?"

Baron Taketick immediately agreed: "These are, of course, reasonable demands."

"Lord Ivita, you are truly a just and wise Lord. I truly wish we were friends."

Ivita snapped his fingers, releasing the magic. "I would like to invite you to my banquet, Baron."

"This might be the first step towards our friendship."

If Councillor Ando and the members of the Taketick family have attended his banquet, according to noble law, they can’t easily declare war on him.

This would help him control the situation more easily.

When Baron Taketick heard about the banquet, he became interested. This was where his interests lay. He suddenly realized how well he got along with this border lord.

"I would be delighted."

And with that, Ivita averted a potential crisis on his territory.

...

The banquet tonight was scheduled one and a half hours earlier, so it began before the sun had set.

Although it was hastily arranged and many parts of the banquet seemed simple, that was a problem for his steward to worry about.

Ivita couldn’t care less.

He only knew that if he didn’t let both parties eat the food from his banquet quickly, and thus enter the domain of noble law, he would always have to worry about the possibility of conflict between the Taketick family and Councillor Ando.

At the table, everyone tried to steer clear of political topics.

Councillor Ando and his friend Robert sat on the left side of the table, while the members of the Taketick family sat on the right.

Ivita sat at the head of the table.

Councillor Ando coldly glanced at Baron Taketick several times, "How is your cousin doing?" he inquired.

Baron Taketick chuckled. His cousin was in fact Viscount Winchester, and as a member of the city council inquiring about his cousin’s condition, the implications were unsaid but clear.

He retorted: "My cousin will certainly live to a ripe old age."

"Perhaps," said Councillor Ando, "But living long isn’t always a blessing. It depends on whether or not you’re being held under soft arrest."

’Clatter~’

The fork in Baron Taketick’s hand accidentally slipped onto his plate, his face betraying his anger.

Lord Ivita coughed softly, he really hadn’t imagined that he would become a diplomat one day.

He addressed his guests, "I hope that everyone here can remember that we are all Ambros people."

"Let us forget other trifling matters."

"Here, everyone is my guest, and that’s all there is to it."

"Speaking of Ambros, something occurs to me. I’ve heard that it’s a major base for hunters. Is that true?"

Councillor Ando promptly replied to Ivita, "Indeed, it is."

Feeling rather fond of Ivita at this point, Baron Taketick carried the topic forward. "Actually, there are indeed quite a few hunters in this region. The women hunters, in particular, have a unique charm."

Noticing the curious looks from many around the dining table, Baron Taketick elaborated, "I once met a female hunter in Winchester. She was exceedingly strong-willed and physically robust. Her rear, shaped by countless hours of training, was incredibly alluring."

"The experience is somewhat better than with your average noblewomen."

"Lord Ivita, you might appreciate it."

"If you are interested, I can certainly arrange for one to meet you."

"Actually, I find the rabbit and fox girls within the beastmen community quite delectable as well. My favorite, however, are the cat girls. Playing with their tails is particularly amusing."

Many at the dinner table looked at Ivita with curiosity, including even the Black Wolf and Knight Griffin.

Immediately, Ivita lowered his head and took a sip of his soup.

This libertine...

Don’t ruin my reputation, please.

Councillor Ando gave Robert, who was sitting next to him, a meaningful look, indicating that he should act soon.

The enemy was getting friendly with Ivita.

Councillor Ando muttered in a low voice, "I’m not good at this, think of something."

Robert shook his head, whispering back, "I think that Lord Ivita is not the kind who’d take to things the likes of this libertine are into."

"Haven’t you noticed that Lord Ivita keeps his head down?"

The moment of enlightenment struck Ando.

Suddenly, Councillor Ando divulged: "Actually, there’s a delightful legend regarding the origin of Ambrosian hunters."

"Legend has it, there was once a beautiful young girl born to a common hunter."

Ivita instantly lifted his head, eyes gleaming, "Please, go on."

Councillor Ando was elated that he had successfully gauged Ivita’s interest.

He continued, "Unfortunately, this hunter had unwittingly trespassed into a witch’s vegetable garden during one of his hunts, thereby ruining her plants. Infuriated, the witch seized the hunter’s daughter, claiming this as her rightful compensation."

"In the eyes of the witch, the hunter’s daughter was now her property."

Many at the dinner table had turned their attention to Councillor Ando.

Councillor Ando gave a sarcastic look at Baron Taketick, who, surprisingly uninterested, was idly feasting on his meal.

"The witch locked up the hunter’s daughter in a tall tower, which the hunter had no means to approach, let alone deal with the witch’s minions guarding it."

"In such a situation, any ordinary man would have given up and moved on, perhaps contemplating on having another daughter."

"However, this hunter was incredibly obstinate."

"He shifted his approach and painstakingly sought the Black Rose Fairy by a riverbank."

"He did eventually find her."

"He asked the fairy to grant him the power to slay the witch and reclaim his daughter. The fairy gifted him a dagger that could gain strength by slaying enemies and animals. It was likely the world’s first hunter’s small sword."

"Later, this hunter discovered a way to replicate the hunter’s small sword amongst the Contraction Monsters."

"Thus, this man become the first hunter."
