Chapter 174: Chapter 128: Have Humans Been Replaced Now? Knowledge Curse? _1

Pan said, "I wouldn’t say we’re specifically spying on you, we’re watching those who pass through your territory and enter the land of Ambros.

"The crucial point is, I watched you wandering around the market for so long, it would have been easy for me to find out your purpose from the strangers you questioned."

Ivita flicks her fingers on the surface of the bed.

If that’s the case, she might have let Pan know her needs.

She doesn’t know, however, to what extent he knows.

But since Pan sneaked into her room in the middle of the night for negotiations, he’s probably not here to assassinate her, he likely has some other motive.

Ivita cautiously stared at Pan. "I may be able to talk with you. But there needs to be some ground rules. You stay in your place, I stay in mine, then we can talk peacefully."

"If you take half a step closer to me, I will consider it an act of war, and we will immediately enter combat."

Pan revealed a strange smile, as if Ivita’s words were absurd.

However, he nodded. "Sure."

Ivita stared at Pan, contemplating his purpose in coming to her room.

From Witch Anna of the Clock Kingdom’s diary, Pan appeared to be someone who would feign friendship to get near you, but it wasn’t clear what benefit he hoped to gain from you.

But try as she might, Ivita couldn’t think of what Pan might want from her.

Ivita’s right eye stared tightly at Pan, who glanced with some apprehension at Ivita’s tightly closed left eye. Pan said, "Your eye has some irritants in it, very unpleasant."

"The Fire of Law, I must say, is not all that great either."

"Of course, the red cedar sea isn’t much better."

Pan said, "These laws are quite deceptive."

"They’re just using us."

"I think when you have some time, you should visit the Ice Witch’s Snow Mountain Palace. The combination of the Fire of Law and Snow Mountain Law created the magnificent Bohr River that sustains eight million people in the Ambros plains. An extraordinary water magic."

"A grand creation from fire and ice."

"You should really go to admire it."

Pan paced back and forth near the window, keeping his distance from Ivita as promised, simply strutting back and forth along a straight line near the window, all the while making extravagant gestures as if they really were friends.

But the two of them were barely even strangers.

They were enemies.

Pan said, "In the Snow Mountain Palace, there are many paths to lower dimensions frozen by Snow Mountain Law, and within the mountain live many creatures unaware that they are living inside someone else’s test tube."

"Generations of Ice Witches have used these lower-dimensional beings for experiments, the Druids did too, until their modification techniques became so advanced that they no longer found experiments in the lower dimensions sufficient."

Pan pointed to the obsidian ring on Ivita’s left thumb, the ring of the druid’s conference.

"Take good care of the conference ring, it will bring you great wealth when your efforts finally pay off."

Ivita knew that Pan was trying to ease the tension, he seemed to be rambling, but in reality, he was trying to make her relax, even though what Pan was saying was interesting.

So, there were many lower-dimensional worlds frozen atop the Ice Witch’s Snow Mountain.

Furthermore, the Druids were indeed a crazy bunch obsessed with life modification.

Ivita couldn’t help but ask Pan, "Pan, what civilization did the Druids support that led to everyone’s opposition?"

Pan’s expression changed, he sighed. "The name of the civilization can’t be said, because it’s cursed."

"Those who utter its name can’t live more than a year, this is not a joke, we discovered it through a lot of experimentation with lower druids."

"What I can tell you about that civilization is scarce."

"All I can tell you is that they were the true humans, the current humans stole their name, these despicable dwarfs!"

Pan suddenly became angry, his teeth clenched, it was obvious that he was genuinely angry, and not just putting on a show.

His teeth grinding, dangerous eyes filled with evil, as if he would attack the next moment.

"Ivita, they used to be ubiquitous."

"They were real humans, current humans at that time were nothing more than a group of dwarves."

Ivita was somewhat confused.

It seemed like she had stumbled upon a question with a tremendous secret.

The old witch once told her that the civilization the druids supported could not be considered entirely non-human. But Pan actually claimed that the civilization the druids supported was the actual human civilization.

This....

Ivita asked, "Why do you say that current humans are nothing more than dwarves and that the civilization you supported was the real human civilization?"

Pan was just about to speak, when a vicious red star streaked across the starry sky outside the window behind him.

Pan turned around and his face instantly darkened. He said to Ivita, "My friend, I don’t want to lose my temper with you."

"But I don’t want to talk about this topic anymore."

"This topic brings too many potential troubles."

"Change your question."

Ivita sighed, knowing that Pan God wouldn’t say much more. The red star outside was something he didn’t know about, but it certainly wasn’t good. He curiously asked, "What were the dwarves known as in the time of the Time War—in your era before you lost? What were they called?"

"..." Pan God pondered for a moment, feeling it wasn’t an issue to answer, and said, "The dwarves of that time were known as half-bodied people."

"Alright, let’s move on to a completely unrelated question. Or I want to tell you something directly, which is the purpose of my visit."

Pan God was somewhat regretful for trying to close the distance with Ivita through idle chit-chat.

The curiosity of the human child in front of him was too strong, constantly asking him very sensitive questions.

These questions touch upon too many things, involve too many entities, and span too many laws and magics.

They are not to be spoken of lightly.

Ivita thought for a moment, knowing that he could no longer talk about anything related to the Druids, otherwise, Pan God would surely become angry, and who knows what would happen then.

However, having a living fossil appear before him and not asking him questions was truly unbearable.

Pan God’s knowledge was extensive.

Of course, he also had to be careful.

From Witch Anna’s experience, maintaining a good relationship with Pan God was not harmless.

This relationship could even be extremely dangerous.

Ivita carefully considered and then asked what he presently wanted to know the most, "Pan, I’ve always wondered, why was Shaw, the tyrant of the ancient civilization, cursed by the Senate? Why did the Senate curse him–- ’those who pursue the law will be condemned by the heavens’."

"Most importantly, the ancient civilization was also collecting laws, why was only Tyrant Shaw cursed?"

Pan God looked at Ivita, regret filling his heart. He had not expected this guy to know so much, and then to ask him. Pan God was extremely troubled. "I assure you, dear Ivita."

"Even though everything about you is satisfactory to me."

"Yet communicating with you is certainly the most exhausting."

"I feel that talking to ten people at the same time is less tiring than talking to you. And because of manners, I have to answer you."

"First, you must understand that the ancient civilization mastered more than one universal law. They were one of the most powerful civilizations for humankind."

"You, who can’t even fully decode the mystery of the Thousand-Year Fire, cannot possibly comprehend the ancient civilization."

"For example, do you know how the ancient civilization collected laws?"

"What was the universal law of the ancient civilization? Why did the ancient civilization suddenly inexplicably collapse and what happened after that?"

"Moreover, Tyrant Shaw, his case was unique. I can only tell you that he not only collected laws but also took it a step further."

"And, it is very likely that Tyrant Shaw was partially the cause of the destruction of the ancient civilization."

"As for this, I have mentioned it to you before, due to some reasons, I have not been wandering the world, so even though I existed at that time, I don’t know many things clearly."

Pan God thought for a while before adding, "However, I have heard about one event that made the Senate very angry with Tyrant Shaw."

"That incident symbolizes the decline of the ancient civilization."

Ivita stared curiously at Pan God, asking, "What is it? What did Shaw do?"

Pan God gave a strange smile. "Actually, it’s not a big deal, he just did something to make all creatures equal."

Ivita looked at Pan God puzzled.

Because this phrase had many meanings, it wasn’t straightforward.

All creatures equal?

What does that mean?

Pan God knew that Ivita wanted him to continue, but he shook his head, refusing to explain. "As long as you stay in your current state, you will definitely learn about it from some pitiful individuals in the future. Today, I have already incurred bad luck by answering your questions."

"I really don’t want to do it again."

"Ivita, you have to understand what the ’knowledge curse’ is."

Ivita shook his head. "What is that?"

Pan God explained, "The Dark Queen once cursed the ’knowledge curse’. She cursed every person who likes to explore knowledge. She cursed the endless road of knowledge, hence creating the ’knowledge curse’."

"Possessing knowledge might be a curse."

"The more one knows, the more it isn’t necessarily a good thing. But not knowing isn’t good either. This is the contradictory point."

"But you can rest assured, with your level of knowledge, you still haven’t reached the threshold of the ’knowledge curse’. Only the most knowledgeable professors in Scholar City will encounter the ’knowledge curse’, and they are soon going to discover its existence."

Pan God went on and on, then wanted to move on to the last topic immediately, not letting Ivita ask more sensitive questions. "This time, I came here to tell you."

"About something."

"You’re planning to leave Parviga tomorrow morning, right?"

"I am here to warn you, absolutely do not leave Parviga tomorrow. Don’t say anything first, I have a special reason."
