Chapter 1059: Chapter 540: The Druids’ Meteor_2
I fear that for the Druids, the beings of light are merely an experiment in life transformation. How could an experimental subject replace mankind, which already possesses a mature civilization?
Ivita shook his head at the Lion King. "Leader of the Druids, I am very conservative. I cannot risk allowing a group of radical life transformation advocates to enter this world."
"So, I cannot help you."
The Lion King sighed and looked up at the sky where meteors occasionally streaked across. "The Druids are sending the primitive natural spirits back to this land through meteors. I truly do not wish for war to break out again."
"However, perhaps things won’t escalate to that point."
"We only need to return for now. If Your Majesty disagrees, there will still be other nations that agree."
"Young Your Majesty, we always welcome you. If you change your mind, you can summon us with the Conference Ring."
Pan God and the Lion King disappeared before him.
At that moment, Ivita realized that both the Lion King and Pan God before him were merely illusory apparitions.
After all, they still dared not to appear directly before the Emperor of the Holy Empire; the risk was simply too great.
Even the Lion King and Pan God dared not be overly confident in the face of the two universal Laws.
Ivita looked at the spot where Pan God and the Lion King had disappeared. "Other nations would agree?"
"This might just be a negotiation tactic, but since they can appear before me as an apparition, they can also appear before other monarchs. They’re using natural phenomena like mirages, of course not suppressed by universal Law, because it’s not a supernatural force transcending nature."
Ivita considered, "From this perspective, it is uncertain whether the Frankish people can resist the temptation to ally with the Druids."
"The Druids are too infamous; Louis XI may refuse."
"No, I must obtain the army of beings of light as quickly as possible."
...
On the Frankish border, Louis XI cut through the Lion King’s apparition with the Wizard’s sword. The Lion King’s shadow shattered into pieces in a fleeting moment, then vanished before Louis XI.
Louis XI’s gaze was exceptionally cold. "Do the Druids even deserve to make an alliance with me?"
"If I allied with you, my father and grandfather would laugh. When have I needed to form an alliance with your kind?"
Pan God shrugged amiably and dissolved of his own accord. "The Frank Empire is indeed powerful, but you have no idea how to operate this war machine."
Louis XI said coldly, "That’s because you do not know how powerful the Frank Empire truly is."
Pan God said, "You may win temporarily but are bound to fail in the end. It is you who fails to see the situation clearly. Allying with us would have been your best choice, and our demands in return are absolutely reasonable."
"Louis XI, rest assured, you will eventually come to us seeking cooperation."
Pan God’s apparition disappeared.
Meanwhile, the apparitions of the Druids had appeared before every monarch in every nation. They sought to establish alliances, with their first ally within the Magic Black Forest, while the meteors that occasionally streaked across the sky were them transporting their forces to the Magic Black Forest.
Some nations agreed to sign secret alliance treaties with the Druids, while most refused their proposal.
Half a month had passed, and Ivita had used the Empire’s resources to forge ten thousand iron rings filled with black magic.
At the same time, he faced a difficult problem from the front lines. King of the Ancient Tomb and Wilson, along with many Electors, reported the current state of warfare to Ivita. The Frankish people were facing enemies on three fronts; their decisive battle with the people of the Duchy of Lower Burgundy was on the eastern front line.
However, now the Electors insisted on engaging in a grand plains battle with the Frankish army, colloquially referred to as an all-in push.
And the King of the Ancient Tomb believed that risk was too great, like gambling, win all or lose all. He wanted to carry out a series of small-scale field battles to ensure victory.
Faced with the strategic conflict that had arisen, the Dukes and Generals had no choice but to leave the decision to Ivita.
Inside the royal palace, Ivita looked at the dispatches that detailed the situation but avoided taking responsibility, causing him some headaches.
Ivita thought for a moment. Without giving a direct answer, he warned the lords and the King of the Ancient Tomb, telling them that in such large-scale wars, striking the enemy’s grain and supplies, cutting off their support and severing their retreat were far more important than defeating the enemy head-on.
At the same time, he cautioned them never to assume victory until the very last moment, for there had been many wars lost by those who recklessly thought they had already won.
Ivita had the Hearthstone Witch send out the letters. Then, he himself went to the Dragonfire Blast Furnace Steel Factory that was crafting his magic black rings. With a wave of his sleeve, he collected all the rings into the pocket of his upper garment.
Following that, he transformed into a Dragon Hawk and soared toward the sky.
The Magic Black Forest would occasionally merge into the Flesh and Blood World of the Black Death Lord, so when Ivita was flying and found himself precisely within the Flesh Mutation World, he suddenly plunged into the Black Death Lord’s body using space magic.
Deep within the Flesh Mutation World, the sky was filled with light beings resembling glowing trees suspended in midair.
These light beings watched Ivita warily. "Are you the Monarch of primitive flesh-and-blood humans?"
"Why do you intrude into our world, inferior being of flesh? You are made of dirt, but we are made of fire and brilliance."
The light beings seemed to possess primitive technology, thus their weapons were merely stone spears and wooden clubs.
Ivita chuckled.
Instantly, the light beings appeared provoked, their anger intensifying.
"Human Monarch, what are you laughing at? What is there for you to laugh at us about? The Great Monarch said that we will replace you sooner or later. You can only mock us for now! Everything you have is ours because we were born to replace you."
Ivita was somewhat speechless, "Light beings, perhaps you could indeed be seen as an advanced form of life, but your weapons do not seem fitting for you."
"This is a ring I’ve crafted for you. Look..."
As Ivita put on the plain-looking iron ring, it immediately turned into a black liquid which gradually took the shape of a black sword.
"This is the basic form of the ring. If you infuse it with different desires, it will have different effects. For instance, if you insert greed..."
As Ivita finished speaking, the black sword in his hand suddenly turned into a flaming sword that soared upward, seeming to reverse directions and cut through all, vaporizing a great amount of air with a light swing, as if space itself was evaporating and becoming distorted.
Ivita stowed the ring away. "How about that? I intend to provide these rings to you as weapons."
The light beings were visibly eager.
"How many such weapons are you prepared to give us?"
"Why do you want to help us? Don’t you regard us as monsters?"
"Could it be that you too are a light being, merely cloaked in human skin?"
Ivita chuckled again. The history of these light beings was too brief; they had no civilization. What did it matter if they surpassed humans in individual attributes?
Entrusting your emotions and desires to another is akin to inviting them to control you.
"Why must you overthink it, gentlemen? Consider it mere appreciation on my part. You deserve to be admired." Ivita pulled out ring after ring from his pocket, and like raindrops from the sky, the rings began to fall to the ground.
The light beings rushed forward, frantic to grab the rings.
Their impatience was unabated, displaying a lack of restraint akin to wild beasts fighting over food.
Ivita shook his head as he observed the scene.
’These light beings claim to be the new life forms that will replace humanity, but what they don’t know is that purely based on individual quality, the Titans of old far surpassed them. Humanity has never evolved by individual quality but rather through the evolution of civilization.’
"These light beings, for now, what difference do they have from wild beasts?" Ivita suddenly realized. "I am the Emperor, the guardian of human civilization, and human civilization has been stagnant for far too long."
"Civilization must advance once more."
