Chapter 1026: Chapter 524 Enemies and Allies
Ivita no longer required any tools for divination, as she commanded the Genuine Sun Universe to alter its rotational angle and velocity to change the operations of the Great Void, physically manipulating the workings of the world to influence and foresee destiny.
This method of divination was a recent innovation for Ivita, a highly advanced technique only attainable to witches and wizards who had mastered manipulation on a massive cosmic scale.
The precision of such divination could achieve an accuracy rate of over ninety-eight percent.
When Ivita manipulated the Genuine Sun Universe, the bridges of sunlight between the multiple universes shifted as well.
The Genuine Sun Universe brought pathways of communication to the Great Void, and now these pathways experienced slight displacements, alerting numerous top-tier technological civilizations and other systemically advanced universes to an anomaly.
The scale of Ivita’s divination was enormous, capturing the attention of all beings of empress-level strength and above.
However, Ivita did not hide her intention to divine.
Firstly, a vision appeared directly in her mind, of herself slaying the Faceless Knight.
"I’m to kill my secret enemy? No, this scene is colored with darkness, suggesting misfortune for myself. So, it means I will end up killing a temporary ally out of manipulation by my enemies, one who bears ill will towards me and wishes me dead."
Many individuals flashed across Ivita’s mind before she concluded that Emperor Oyo III was the likely subject.
The second vision materialized: a bat with half its wing missing took flight.
"Bats often symbolize danger and mystery. But why is it missing half a wing, and yet still capable of flight?"
Upon seeing the third vision—a silver dagger simultaneously piercing through two hearts—Ivita interpreted it immediately. "My attack will be crucial; if I choose the right target, I can severely wound both of my enemies. The bat probably represents the Black Death, or it might indicate the Druid. Considering the current circumstances, it seems likely that following these events, The Great Lord of Black Death, damaged by the Kingdom of Frank into a split personality, will be reborn."
"If I choose incorrectly who to strike, it could instead harm two people close to me."
Ivita furrowed her brows, ceased the abnormal rotation of the Genuine Sun Universe, and ended her divination, allowing countless individuals across the multiple universes to breathe easier as the sun bridges ceased their abnormal shifting.
After halting the divination, Ivita continued writing her book. About half a day later, a guard suddenly entered with news. "Your Majesty, Lord Aito Yeman... has been assassinated, and an arrow bearing the Emperor’s family crest was left in her chest."
Ivita’s expression shifted drastically; Aito was the Yeman family’s representative within her court, and the Yeman family was one of Alsace’s most prominent noble houses.
She had only just planned to promote this individual, and now they were dead.
This was clearly an attack directed at her.
"The Emperor’s crest?" Ivita mused with a peculiar expression. It was almost certainly not the work of the Emperor’s agents, but it couldn’t be ruled out entirely.
After all, one never knows the extent of their enemy’s madness.
At that moment, another guard reported, "Your Majesty, it’s terrible—the Blue Illusion Witch was assassinated by an assassin while concocting a magical potion."
The Blue Illusion Witch was an elder she had brought from the Black Sea!
Ivita exploded with rage but did not vent it on others; instead, she quickly inquired, "Where is the assassin?"
The guard responded immediately, "Your Majesty, we’ve captured them."
Ivita ordered, "Immediately increase the palace’s security and lock down the entire city. Do not give any assassins another chance."
Subsequently, Ivita discovered that a large-scale assassination had been carried out against core members of her council chamber, with many important members dead and others injured.
At the same time, one of her long-serving officials was critically injured—the Iron Mountain Knight, whom she had purchased.
Fortuitously, the Knight had encountered soldiers patrolling the city while fleeing the assassination attempt and narrowly survived.
The assassin responsible was also apprehended by the soldiers and brought to the dungeon.
Ivita, accompanied by the Hearthstone Witch, hastened to the dungeon where the flickering candlelight and jailers, who spent their lives in the cells brandishing torture tools, were questioning the assassins.
Ronan Anderson, as the head of intelligence, bore responsibility for the large-scale infiltration of assassins into the Royal Capital, wiping sweat from his brow; he didn’t dare meet Ivita’s gaze. "Your Majesty, these assassins seem to have been lurking in our Royal Capital for many years, not just recently. As you know, before your great rule, this place was always a mess."
"I assure you, it will be impossible for assassins to enter your city ever again."
Ivita glanced at him without a response.
She turned to examine the weapons and arrows seized from the assassins and looked towards the jailmaster—the expert in punishment.
The jailmaster whispered to Ivita, "Your Majesty, the weapons have been preliminarily inspected, and indeed they are all used by the Emperor’s troops of the Holy Empire. The family crests on the weapons also serve as evidence."
