Chapter 972: Volume 31: With One Hand Covering the Sky, Chapter 16: The Foreign Liberator

Standing on the bed, she faced Komer, as if she were conducting a sacred ritual, unfolding herself bit by bit.

"Finitz, tell me, how much trouble will I be in?"

"Do you really wish to understand at a time like this?" Finitz found that she had still underestimated the man whom she thought she knew so well. The true nature of a man, the secrets he conceals, can never be completely unearthed.

"Why not? My thoughts are calmer and clearer now, and it’s also more conducive to deliberating matters. Don’t you want me to think more comprehensively and cautiously for you?"

"No, no, that’s not what I mean." Finitz shook her head in some disorder, realizing at that moment she might never fully comprehend this man.

"Alright, Finitz, speak. Talk to me about those messed-up situations within the Elf Clan that are just like the ones in the world of mortals, which might even pique my interest." Komer smiled, "It seems I’m destined to deal with your extraordinary races—Half-Beastmen, Barbarians, and now an Elf Clan popping up. Do you all really think I’m some sort of Liberator for all the races?"

Seeing Finitz’s nervous and shy twist in front of him, Komer felt a surge of heat in his heart, "Finitz, stop showing that attitude in my presence, if you keep it up, I really might lose interest in your introduction. Instead, I prefer..."

Komer was speaking his mind.

It was then, under Komer’s intense gaze, that Finitz used a cloth to cover her body, gradually narrating the secret history of the Elves.

Komer fell into deep thought. He had not expected the seemingly peaceful Elf Clan to be riddled with as much deceit and darkness as the mortal world. The last time those Dark Elves attacked Finitz, it was to seize the Greenwood Divine Chain on her chest, and it seemed Finitz had also mentioned that the Swamp Elves’ Wave Bracelet and the Mountain Elves’ Nine Heavens Hairpin had been stolen, likely by Dark Elves as well.

Each of the seven sections of the Elf Clan has a Sacred Object representing their tribe, each with remarkable powers. Could it be that obtaining these Sacred Objects would allow one to command these tribes? For what purpose had the Dark Elves launched such actions? Was it their own design or were they under someone’s orders? Could there be a more complex conspiracy at play?

"Finitz, according to you, each tribe has its own Sacred Object, which are blessings bestowed upon the Elf Clan by the Goddess of Nature. What exactly are these Sacred Objects used for? Apart from their intrinsic properties, do they have any other special functions?"

"There is a set of seven Sacred Objects, each belonging to a tribe. The Dark Elves have the Black Magic Pendant; the Mountain Elves, the Nine Heavens Hairpin; the Swamp Elves, the Wave Bracelet; we Forest Elves have the Greenwood Divine Chain; the Cave Elves possess the Soaring Wings Pin; the White Elves, the Linglong Belt; and the Fire Elves, the Flame Divine Pearl. These Sacred Objects have significant effects within each tribe, not only as symbols of the decennial great ritual but also as emblems of the tribe’s image. Of course, that is not the most important aspect. The crux is that these seven Sacred Objects combined are said to be the key to a hidden sanctuary, the abode of the Goddess of Nature in the earthly realm. Whomever gains entry signifies that their tribe could unite the entire Elf Clan." Finitz’s demeanor was extremely solemn and reverent.
