Chapter 924: Volume 29, Sword Qi Points from Afar, Chapter 18: The Storm
The teams composed of Heavenly Peng Knights and Thunderhorse Knights immediately acted like numerous sharp knives plunged into the Army of Homer’s formation, unleashing a fierce and unmatched offensive. The once solid formation of the Homer army seemed incredibly fragile before these knights’ strike teams.
The knight spear and Fighting Qi formed a sharp and penetrating spearhead, rampaging through the bodies of the Rock Corps and Furious Wave Corps. With every surge of Fighting Qi and crossing of spear shadows, countless Barbarian Soldiers and Half-beast Soldiers would howl in pain and perish. Even the toughness of the Barbarians and the stubbornness of the Half-beast Men could only crumble bit by bit in the face of the powerful and invincible Fighting Qi blades.
The Homer Knight Order and the Black Flame Knights had been completely tied down by the Restriction forces led by the Thunderhorse Knights, while the Union Mage Squad was firmly stuck by various Light Arrays launched by Light Mages led by Onia and Lorenzo. Faced with the pressing attacks of the Heavenly Peng Knights and Thunderhorse Knights, Komer was extremely anxious. He had never anticipated that the Thunderhorse Knights would also emerge in full force to join this war. This meant that the Church of Light had almost completely withdrawn from the dispute with the Salvation Society to confront him, but now was not the time to question the role played by the Salvation Society.
Shatima finally could not contain herself and leaped into battle. She, along with Grace, Brianos, Havier, and Bayezid, had no choice but to engage in combat. Some cunning and ruthless Luminous Knights had already penetrated deep into the Homer army formation, selectively attacking the officers of the Furious Wave Corps and Rock Corps to more easily plunge the Homer formation into chaos. Shatima, who had always hoped to hold out until a critical moment to fight, could no longer bear it.
The thick Dragon Spear whipped up a sky-high force, and the chilling frost caused even the three Thunderhorse Knights to shiver incessantly. Even though the three Luminous Knights were protected by Light Arcane, the bone-piercing cold that reached into one’s heart and lungs still threatened to freeze them solid.
A vast and unparalleled force from the Dragon Spear struck, causing the leading Thunderhorse Knight to spit blood. The two following Thunderhorse Knights barely managed to catch the rebounding strike of Shatima’s Dragon Spear by joining forces. The fierce combination attack left the triangular spear formation made by the three Thunderhorse Knights in complete disarray, utterly unable to organize an effective attack.
Mihailovich also finally showed his prowess; two Metal Magic Dolls faced the challenge head-on. The latter Magic Doll was obviously not fully completed. While its attacking ability was unaffected, its somewhat rough appearance was intolerable to Mihailovich’s perfectionist standards. However, when facing a critical juncture of fate, everything could be put aside. Two Thunderhorse Knights seemed overwhelmed by the coordinated attack of the two Metal Magic Dolls, and only with the last-minute involvement of another Thunderhorse Knight were they able to stabilize their position.
Havier, Grace, and Bayezid jointly took on the assault of two Thunderhorse Knights. Despite some difficulty, relying on the axe’s divine power wielded by Bayezid to bear the brunt of the pressure, Havier and Grace used their expertise to continuously launch surprise attacks to contain the offensive of the two Thunderhorse Knights, barely managing to hold on.
Giant Brianos’s mighty giant cudgel made everything within three zhang change color, but the Heavenly Peng Knights were not opponents one could contend with brute force alone. Brianos realized his shortcomings and purposefully moved closer to Finitz. As an Elven king from the Forest world, her inherent Magic Power made manipulating minor magic a breeze for her. Although she had not formally joined the battle, at this critical time, she did not hesitate to start casting small spells to attack that Heavenly Peng Knight, aiding Brianos in overcoming the crisis.
The pressure brought by the full-force charge of the Luminous Knights immediately became apparent. Even though they knew it was not a good idea to reveal Uma at this point, when their own camp could face impending collapse at any moment, they had to take the risk and let her join the fray.
A squadron of twelve fully armored skeleton warriors, led by a Black Warrior wielding an Ice Wind Magic Sword, appeared on the Battlefield, immediately causing a wave of panic. The eerily haunting aura and stark skeletal frames, coupled with armor emanating a verdigris stench and rust-spotted swords and shields, made everyone, both the United Army and Homer Camp, instinctively cast their gaze towards the quietly standing and oddly shaped Necromancer.
The fully wrapped and bandaged Uma cursed inwardly while enduring the various glances cast her way. It was a great humiliation for Uma to appear in such a fashion, but she was also well aware that if her vessel Iliana’s appearance fell into the eyes of the Church of Light, it could bring endless trouble for her, who had not yet fully conquered this body. So she followed Komer’s advice and made her entrance in such a manner.
The Black Warrior’s Ice Wind Magic Sword stirred a gust of cold wind as it lunged towards a splendidly Fighting Qi-infused Heavenly Peng Knight. The holy flames emanating from the knight spear made all the approaching Black Warriors emit creaking noises. The black mist surrounding the Black Warrior’s body also thinned, the sound made by the Dark Magic Force when scorched by the holy flames of Light. Yet, with every step the Black Warrior took forward, the brilliant and bright Light Fighting Qi of the Heavenly Peng Knight dimmed by a degree.
The Ice Wind Magic Sword, imbued with endless Dark Devouring Power, stirred up countless spatial vortices in the hands of the Black Warrior; it seemed as though everything nearby would be sucked into these whirlpools. The Heavenly Peng Knight had clearly realized the power of the magic sword in the Black Warrior’s hands. The Crystal clear knight spear, illuminated by the bright holy flame, shone even more dazzlingly. Every clear clash caused both weapons to dim for a moment; then, prompted by the power of their respective masters, they would regain their brightness. The spreading black fog and scattering light beams showcased their supernatural prowess in the ceaseless collisions, while the Black Warrior’s muffled roars and the Heavenly Peng Knight’s loud, clear chants, against the backdrop of a bizarre and colorful battlefield, composed a spectacular tableau.
Light and darkness, born of each other yet eternally opposed.
Compared to the Black Warrior leader, the skeleton warriors were clearly less capable in combat, although their fighting power had greatly improved under Uma’s painstaking training.
A defensive circle formed by three skeleton warriors was often only able to handle the assault of a single Heavenly Peng Knight. The cooperation between the skeleton warriors obviously could not compare to that of the Heavenly Peng Knights, who had long fought side by side. Two of the skeleton warriors were even shattered before they could display their prowess, crushed under the coordinated attack of two Heavenly Peng Knights, reduced to trash.
With the arrival of the Black Warriors, two Dark Flame Demons stepped out of the dark passage formed by Uma’s spell. As soon as they emerged from the different space, the Dark Flame Demons seemed to be reborn, their bones cracking loudly, and their bodies, previously compressed, suddenly doubled. The Bone Spirit Flame Swords in their hands flared up with bizarre dark fire.
The appearance of the Dark Flame Demons gave Kent and Trajan grim expressions. Dark Flame Demons were more than a notch above the Black Warriors, and the Bone Spirit Flame Swords burning with ominous dark flames in their hands were extremely lethal. Being touched by that dark fire could wound even without direct contact, possibly causing internal injuries.
Four Thunderhorse Knights had just managed to engage two Dark Flame Demons, who were worthy entities from the demon world, with intelligence in no way inferior to normal humans. Their well-timed joint attacks forced the four Thunderhorse Knights into a difficult situation, their four Knight Spears finding no advantage against the madly spinning Bone Spirit Flame Swords.
The hope of achieving a breakthrough with the knights’ strength was dragged down by the continuous obstructive tactics from the Homer side. Although the Thunderhorse Knights and the Heavenly Peng Knights continued to make gains, their initial overwhelming momentum had significantly diminished.
Newman, along with several mages, had stirred up thunder and wind with the Star Space Formation in the sky, but the intervention of Onia’s Supreme Sword of Light disrupted the casting process of the formation. With the help of Lorenzo and several mages, the sharp Light Sword disrupted the formation, moving from south to north, from west to east, frequently slicing the gathering magic power into pieces, preventing the Star Space Formation from successfully accumulating the power necessary for a full-scale eruption.
The scales of the war had begun to tip towards the United Army but were gradually shifted back little by little by Komer. Such twists and turns in the battle were unexpected for both Komer and the United Army. The knights’ strength, relied upon to make a breakthrough, was being dispersed one after another. It seemed increasingly unlikely that the desired goal could be achieved quickly. For Komer, the power exhibited by the United Army was also a considerable pressure. Even at this point, the United Army still held many advantages, especially with Trajan and Kent still in reserve. Should the opponent suddenly exert their magic power, it might well break the current stalemate. Komer did not wish to let this uncontrollable situation continue.
Almost simultaneously, Trajan and the silent, formidable figure beside him looked towards the distance, while Komer’s gaze also passed over all the figures in front of him and collided with that of the two, each thinking of breaking the current fragile yet temporary balance to turn the situation to their advantage. This was a problem that both Komer and Trajan almost simultaneously considered, while the mage, who had remained silent, also realized this. At this moment, they almost simultaneously sensed the presence of their opponent.
