Chapter 917: Volume 29, Remote Sword Qi, Chapter 11, Hand in Hand
The guard rushed over, giving Komer a bad feeling. When the letter in the guard’s hand was handed to Komer, he couldn’t help but mutter to himself, "Who would be sending a letter at this time?"
The elegant handwriting on the letter seemed familiar, and Komer immediately recognized it as Renta’s. His confusion grew; was there an urgent situation in Poznan that compelled Renta to send a message from so far away?
Komer skimmed through the letter and his expression turned much more serious. Fran sensed the change in his master’s mood; it must be some troubling news that had caused such a transformation in Komer, yet it was unclear what the situation was.
Taking a deep breath to calm his emotions, Komer realized the complexity of the situation. The information the Anson family had received must have been quite accurate. Katya and Hoffman had met quietly with representatives from Galle and Silesia in Godeburg. What this meant was clear to anyone with eyes; the worst-case scenario had finally unfolded. The Romanov family could no longer restrain themselves and had decided to align against Komer. Thus, it meant he had to consider the involvement of not only the Blue Dove Corps but also the Golden Oak Legion. With Galle’s inherent military power, the previously one-sided war scales were starting to tip quietly in the enemy’s favor.
Fran took the letter from Komer’s hands, frowning slightly. The participation of the Blue Dove Corps and the Golden Oak Legion wouldn’t change the fundamental situation of the war. Fran didn’t think the entry of these two corps could reverse the situation, but it was indeed an ominous sign.
"Fran, it seems that ’the tree wants to stay still but the wind keeps blowing’. The characters of the Romanov family have finally grown tired of staying out of the limelight. What do they want to do? Do they want to help the Galleians defeat us so they can carve a piece for themselves, or do they dream of restoring the past glory of their Romanov family?"
"Perhaps both, but they are underestimating us and oversimplifying the Galleians. No matter who wins the war, one thing is certain: the Romanov family won’t be able to return to what they were, because once the foundation is lost, the building above will not stand," Fran shook his head. "If I were Hoffman, I wouldn’t get involved, at least not so blatantly. He overestimates the power of the Galleians."
"This is a wake-up call for us. Perhaps there are many more jesters ready to jump out," Komer said coldly.
"Does the Lord refer to those fellows from the Church of Light? The Court? Or the people from the Vazinsky Clan?" Fran nodded.
"Hmm, we can’t underestimate our opponents. Like a cornered dog, they might band together by any means necessary," Komer lowered his head, pondering for a moment before speaking, "Perhaps it’s time we also lay out a new plan properly. It would be a colossal joke to be capsized in a gutter."
Seeing the approaching vigorous figure, Kent’s eyes glowed with an even stronger unusual light. It was said that Trajan was seriously injured in the battle at the Marco Fortress, but now it appeared not as bad as imagined, at least on the surface, he still maintained a high level.
The Thunderhorse Knight Group and the Sky Peng Knights had always been competing for the second rank among the knights of the Blue Continent. Apart from the unshakeable position of the Wind Riders, the Bohemian Magic Knight Corps, Thunderhorse Knights, Heavenly Peng Knights, and the Knight Corps of Thousand Phantoms of the Knossos Kingdom Palace each had their own opinions on this second rank. The complex relationship between the competitors, as well as between Pericles Church and St. Vasily Church, made Kent’s feelings about Trajan equally complicated. He wished to lead the Thunderhorse Knights to defeat the opposition but didn’t want to see the Heavenly Peng Knights lose their luster.
"Lord Kent, it has been years since we last met, and I must say, you still have an impressive bearing that is truly enviable," Trajan said with a gentle smile that seemed sincere. He quickened his pace to greet the approaching figure, and finally, their hands met in a firm handshake.
It was not until that moment of contact that Kent was certain Trajan had indeed been seriously injured in the battle at Marco Fortress. The slightly erratic flow of his qi could not be concealed at such close quarters, especially since Trajan seemed to have no intention of hiding it. It was incredible to think that those people could have inflicted such heavy injuries on Trajan and Michelangelo. Kent found it unbelievable.
Trajan appeared remarkably composed, and the brightness in Kent’s eyes was also reflected in his own. During that handshake, a surge of pure and profound energy flowed vigorously into Trajan’s body. Trajan raised his eyebrows in mild surprise at the warmth in the other man’s smile and felt a touch of emotion. Although they were competitors who belonged to different factions, they shared an understanding when it came to the dignity of a warrior.
No matter how pure, Light Fighting Qi could not heal injuries instantly, but this kind of pure energy from a fellow powerhouse could indeed help clear any blocks in Trajan’s body, laying a solid foundation for his recovery. Only a handful of warriors in the Church of Light had the ability to do this, and Kent was certainly one of them.
The powerful flow of qi raced through Trajan’s meridians. To an outsider, their handshake seemed to last only marginally longer than usual, but within those brief seconds, Trajan felt the blocked and depressed parts of his meridians suddenly clear. This was the true grace of a powerful being.
Sensing the gratitude in Trajan’s eyes, Kent shook his head slightly, "There’s no need for that, Lord Trajan. If our positions were reversed, you would do the same for me, right?"
With an easy shrug of his shoulders, Trajan chose not to dwell on it. To them, fussing over such details seemed disingenuous.
"Lord Kent, I hope that our combined efforts this time will purge the evil and restore Nicosia to a bright and clear world."
"To fight side by side with the Sky Peng Knights in vanquishing evil has always been the Thunderhorse Knights’ wish. When can the Three Great Knights unite and move forward or retreat together for the sake of the Blue Continent’s glory—that will be a fortunate event for our Continent," Kent replied with a smile, continuing the conversation.
"Heh, standing shoulder to shoulder in battle with the Thunderhorse Knights is likewise an earnest desire of the Sky Peng Knights. Let’s show those dark scum the true valor of Light Knights and the irresistible force of our Light Power. I’m confident that our alliance will teach those arrogant fools a profound lesson," Trajan said, his words tinged with a hint of resentment for the first time.
