Chapter 803: Volume 24: Signal Fires Link the Camps, Chapter 14: Substitute

Where on earth had Iliana gone?

If Onia and Salianco knew of Iliana’s current situation, they might go mad.

Komer looked at the unconscious body in front of him with great interest.

As he lifted the veil that had always shrouded this body, Komer somewhat regretted letting such a head, filled with true goodness, serenity, and beauty, be occupied by Uma, that perverted vengeful spirit—it was somewhat of a profanation. However, Komer liked this kind of profanation; to desecrate the Light was akin to worshipping the Darkness, and this seemed to have always been Komer’s pursuit.

Indeed, a naturally stunning beauty! Komer sincerely admired her within his heart, feeling a touch of pity.

Komer, with his hand on his chin, looked thoughtfully at the body before him, knowing that he must give Uma what he had promised, especially since Uma had indeed made many sacrifices in this battle.

The two Giant Zombies had successfully defended their Dark Origin, but the multitude of scars on their bodies showed just how hard the fight against the Light Knights had been. The continuous barrage of magic attacks had put a great deal of pressure on them, and had it not been for their tough performance, the Luminous Knights breaking into the Barbarian Warriors’ formation could have led to unimaginable consequences.

The Black Knight’s Skeleton Team was completely annihilated. Under the joint encirclement of the Light Mage Group, their survival until the final stages of the war was admirable. The most regrettable part was the Soul Eating Gnome, who was locked onto by the holy flame within the heart of the woman before him, and was burned to ashes by the most pure heart fire of the Holy Light Fire. Even Komer felt an immense sense of loss, but had Iliana not successfully drawn the Soul Eating Gnome away, his own sneak attack might not have been successful; it was worth the cost, after all.

Bear could finally have his body back. Honestly, Komer was quite reluctant to let Uma, the reckless and extravagant one, take possession of a body that had already advanced to a Golden Corpse. Komer had invested a lot of effort to train Bear to this level, and it pained him to let Uma misuse it. Komer had been thinking about reclaiming it for a while but had not found a suitable substitute until now; it seemed this body before him might just be the perfect exchange.

A faint chill spread from behind, and Komer could feel the traces of disturbance in the air—no physical substance, nobody except Uma could likely achieve this degree of skill. Despite such severe damage, this fellow was still so arrogant, truly incorrigible.

Voices teasing and provoking came from behind, now left, now right, "I could lend her to you for a few days. But not for too long. I need this body, and it will take some time for me to get used to her."

"Did I say I would give you this body?" Komer stood up and asked indifferently. He did not turn around, knowing that this was not the time to see the other party.

"What do you mean?!" The voice suddenly became shrill as if someone had grabbed onto the throat. Komer could even feel the fury emanating from behind.

"It means nothing much. I just feel that the aura of Light within this woman is too pure and intense. Considering the current state of your body, are you sure you can control her well? Don’t get melted by a backlash, now that would truly be a huge joke. I’m just looking out for you," Komer said casually with a shrug.

"Hmph, you underestimate me? To underestimate me is to underestimate yourself!" Uma’s voice turned stern immediately, "I may have suffered some losses, but the tricks of the Bright Holy Teaching won’t defeat me. Give me one month, and I’ll show you a brand-new Light Saintess."

"If you insist on it that much, of course, I have no objections." Komer didn’t want to fall out with the other party. The ensuing battles might continue, or even become more fierce and brutal. He needed stronger support, and this individual behind him was undoubtedly an essential part.

"Hmph, as long as you understand. Then be quick to recuperate, and I need some time to repair myself too. The Supreme Light Sky Net of the Church of Light was indeed interesting; they nearly trapped me. I need to properly study what new tricks the Church of Light has come up with over the years. This woman is the best research subject, and I think you need that too," Uma’s cold voice, sharp as steel wire, dispersed through the air, seemingly drifting away.

"Uma, you should first focus on repairing your origin. Don’t take the Holy Light Power lightly—arrogance isn’t a mark of confidence. There are many times when I will need you, and I certainly don’t want to see a sickly ally," Komer said bluntly, tired of the other’s hubris, which often leads to setbacks, and unwillingness to accept criticism. If lessons weren’t learned, perhaps even more defeats would befall her, which is something Salianco certainly doesn’t suffer from.

"Hmph!" A somewhat angry snort dissipated into the air behind Komer, who paid no mind to the discontent. Without a reminder of her limits, Uma always thought herself invincible. Today, had it not been for Clarence’s outstanding performance, she might have ended her days entangled in the Supreme Light Sky Net.

Clarence’s performance was commendable, and he proved his abilities and loyalty with his actions. Perhaps it was time to give him some guidance. Having an earth-based magician in his Army would greatly enhance its combat capabilities. Fran had already shown some interest in this area, a rare occurrence. This was a change in perspective, something Komer looked forward to.
