Chapter 800: Volume 24 Beacon Fire Linking Camps Chapter 11 Major Engagement_2

Under the astonished gazes of the spectators, Komer had already pulled out the seven-string harp. Mihailovich’s expression was complex, while Newman’s face was full of joy. As Komer’s fingers pressed on the harp, the dark black and blue-grey cloud patterns on the harp quickly began to fluctuate, creating an illusion of flowing clouds in motion, and the dull sound of yin thunder and a sharp whistling of wind were faintly directed.

"Lord, if I’m not mistaken, is that the legendary Wind and Thunder Magic Harp?"

Newman, excited and nervous, continuously licked his somewhat dry lips, his breathing became rapid as his eyes fiercely fixed on the increasingly fast fluctuating dual-colored cloud patterns on the harp, which gradually blended together, presenting a vague mist-like state—a prelude to the imminent explosive release of magic power infused into the harp.

"Hmm, Newman, you have good eyesight. Since the mages of the Church of Light can use thunder-based magic and fire-based magic against my warriors, it’s only fair for me to respond in kind," Komer said, his lips curling into a sinister smile. His fingers moved even more dramatically across the harp strings, and the clear sound of the strings danced out like flowing water, blending into the increasingly intense elemental air around.

Iliana looked up in astonishment at the sky above the opposing camp, which had darkened instantly, the shrill sounds of the wind suddenly magnified, and the clouds seeming to shift space, moving toward their side in the blink of an eye. Meanwhile, black clouds incessantly rained down aerial strikes, with golden lightning snakes twisting out from the gaps—what was this?

Why were the opponent’s wind and thunder magic arrays activating simultaneously? Where did such powerful magical forces come from? Iliana couldn’t believe it, her gaze also turned towards Onia, who was still tirelessly supporting the Nirvana Knights battling the giant zombies. He should have known the enemy’s capabilities like the back of his hand. How could such a big error occur?

Onia’s attention was also drawn by the changing skies. The tumultuous alteration of the clouds clearly marked the onset of a large-scale spell. Meanwhile, their own mages were embroiled in a tough fight, utterly lacking the energy to activate their magic arrays, and there was no plan for the activation of both the wind and thunder magic arrays simultaneously—what was going on? Could it be an opponent? However, he was very familiar with the few mages on the other side, and there was no way they could launch two large spells at once!

As the piercing sound of the wind mixed with the rolling boom of the yin thunder approached, Onia and Iliana’s faces turned an ashen blue. This was clearly the sound of two large-scale spells launching simultaneously, and their target was directly aimed at their camp, now entangled in hand-to-hand combat with the barbarian soldiers. These guys picked a good time! And now, they could only watch helplessly as it all unfolded!

Komer chose a slightly rearward point of attack. The front-line clash had mingled knights and warriors from both sides together, and the attack of wind and thunder magic would cause losses to both sides, but choosing the rear area where the knights were gathered as the strike point was most appropriate. This would severely impact their follow-up strength, rendering them incapable of continued fighting, and provide an opportunity for his own Dragon Warriors and Thunder Peng Knights to launch their final attack.

Droplets of sweat seeped out of every part of Komer’s body. Utilizing the Wind and Thunder Magic Harp to drive large-scale spells greatly enhanced the magic power and efficiency, but it was also a great test of the musician’s magical energy expenditure. The tremendous drain of magical power made Komer feel somewhat overwhelmed, but it was a critical moment, and he dared not slacken in the slight, even if it meant making some sacrifices himself.

All magicians on our side had been fully deployed to counter the attack of the Homer Knights. In the true clash, the Homer Knights still held the absolute upper hand. Their fearless and resolute demeanor in the face of death and danger, their iron discipline and strict adherence to orders during the battle charges, left Komer in awe and made him realize the absolute necessity of establishing a knight force once he had enough power himself. If it hadn’t been for the help of the magicians, perhaps the second wave of four warrior formations from the Caucasus would have already collapsed.

A series of Wind Blades and Thunder Strikes finally began to descend on the rear forces of the knights. Facing the magic strike from the heavens, the knights’ response vastly differed from that of the barbarian soldiers of the Caucasus. They methodically adjusted their formation, using anti-magic equipment to ward off the celestial onslaught. They gathered around knights equipped with anti-magic gloves, connecting two knight spears and raising them high, channeling the Thunder Strikes through the spears into the ground, minimizing the impact area of the Thunder Strikes. Facing the oncoming Wind Blades, they also carefully prostrated on their horses, minimizing the area exposed to attack, maximizing their chances of survival.

Komer once again saw the gap between his hastily assembled armed forces and a regular army, particularly the difference with the knight forces. Although the barbarians and Half-beast Warriors physically far surpassed ordinary mortals, mortals far exceeded other races in adaptability and responsiveness. But more importantly, their adherence to and understanding of discipline, was something other races could hardly compete with.

Perhaps the Homer Knight Order might not rank within the top three knight orders in the Kingdom of Nicosia, whether it’s the kingdom’s Fire Shadow Knight Corps, Galle’s Nirvana Knight Corps, or Silesia’s Blazing Flame Knight Corps, all rank above the Homer Knight Order. Even Poznan’s Wave Knight Corps is no less formidable than the Homer Knight Order, especially since the current Homer Knight Order is actually quite weakened. Imagining facing those well-equipped and powerful knight corps in the future, Komer realized the challenging path that lay ahead against these knight forces. Simply relying on these barbarian and Half-beast Armies to conquer was an underestimation of the heroes of the world.

The knight forces in the Southern Region are even more solid. Perhaps forming a knight corps in Flanders, recruiting distressed knights and squire knights to rapidly build up a knight force, would be a good choice. Otherwise, facing the powerful knight forces from various places in the future could prove tricky, Komer thought.

The self-rescue operations of the Homer Knights had some effect, but such passive defense against dual magical strikes was exhausting even for experienced knights. This chaotic situation intensified especially after Mihailovich purposefully deployed two Metal Magic Dolls into the battlefield attacking the knights. They had to face constant magical strikes on one hand and two relentless metal killing machines on the other, leaving the knights hard-pressed to manage both.

Meanwhile, the skeleton battle team led by the Black Warrior, in coordination with the Soul Eating Gnome, firmly entangled the Royal Court Magicians. They obviously lacked the experiences to deal with this onslaught from undead warriors from a different world. Despite having an absolute advantage, they always found it difficult to turn their advantage into victory, particularly with the pervasive Soul Eating Gnomes, almost natural born undead killers, having already slain three magicians and one mage, another mage was severely wounded.

The only mobile force, Salianco, had already wholly devoted himself to rescuing Maldono. The dense zombie poison within the Soul Eating Gnome brought Maldono close to death, and despite using various magical means, Salianco could not fully bring him back, only able to sustain his life force.

Iliana had lost all hope of a certain victory in this war. The opponent’s endless tactics made her realize the complexity and cruelty of a real war, that such a victory in a war is definitely not something that a few magicians could influence.
