Chapter 799: Volume 24: The Signal Smoke Spreads from Camp to Camp, Chapter 11: The Great Battle
Onia realized the gravity of the situation. The tenacity of the Black Warriors was extraordinary, and their resistance to Light Magic far exceeded his expectations. Even though multiple Mages and Magicians had joined forces to construct a Light Array that firmly controlled the battle, the two Black Warrior Chiefs—who withstood the relentless onslaught of Light Power—remained savagely fierce. Onia was eager to join the ranks of the Mages to lend a hand in thoroughly dealing with this group of Black Warriors leading a skeleton army, but he was already too busy dealing with two Giant Zombies. Despite the assistance of two Semi Holy Luminous Knights, Onia still felt a considerable strain managing the Giant Zombies’ ferocious assault.
The massive axes wielded by the two Giant Zombies stirred up a deathly chill wind that constantly swirled around Onia and the three Luminous Knights. The Luminous Knight Spears, forged from special Luminous Iron and blessed with Light Blessing, were of much greater strength and toughness than ordinary knight spears. But under the impact of the two Giant Zombies, the mottled scars on the spears testified to their struggle; even the Luminous Knight Spears struggled to withstand the assault of the Giant Zombies. Had it not been for Onia’s continuous release of Light Magic and support spells to bolster the three Luminous Knights’ defensive line, the honor of the Luminous Knights would have been trampled underfoot by the Giant Zombies long ago.
Onia was quite troubled by the apparent numbness of the Giant Zombies to Light Magic. In fact, he knew well that the Giant Zombies weren’t insensitive to the power of Light; on the contrary, only the Light Magic Power could truly harm the dark hearts of the Giant Zombies. Physical attacks could hardly cause substantial damage to them, unless one possessed the extraordinary realm of the Sword Saint Dominator, capable of utterly destroying their essences. Otherwise, such superficial damage was futile.
The three Luminous Knights had indeed done their utmost. These were Semi Holy Knights, the Luminous Holy Guardians who surpassed ordinary high-ranking knights in combat strength. Yet in the face of the Giant Zombies, they seemed quite inadequate: their knight spears could only leave some scratches but cause no significant damage to the resilient zombie bodies. It was only when the Luminous Knights infused their attacks with Light Magic Power—directing it into the bodies of the Giant Zombies to target their dark hearts—that they were more than just shields.
After a frenzied clash of magical forces between the two factions’ Magicians, the surging tides of power finally converged.
With a graceful leap, Vladimir Koff’s knight spear conjured a two-zhang wide halo of light, locking onto the proudly charging Lecler. Lecler’s eyes shone divinely too; the fierce wind generated by his knight spear seemed to draw in the surrounding air, emitting a piercing shriek that nearly ruptured one’s eardrums.
Solonberg unleashed his best Frost Magic Freeze, intertwining with the straight-shooting shadow of the knight spear and meeting head-on against the oncoming Bronin Knight. Bronin’s knight spear was already wreathed in a dazzling disc of silver, brilliant as a full moon in the sky. The humming vibration of the spear trembled like the buzzing of bees and the quaking of the earth, spreading tremor waves through the air, showcasing the immense importance both sides placed on delivering their first strike!
All four leaders left their subordinates far behind, each locking onto their respective targets, aiming to resolve each other in the shortest possible time to maximize their engagement in the assault on the enemy’s camp. But after the first strike, they realized that a quick resolution—a hasty escape from each other’s Restriction—was an unrealistic dream for either side. That one strike brought both parties to a sobering awareness that it would be improbable to resolve or even disentangle from each other in an instant.
Solonberg’s Frost Magic Freeze was countered with a powerful blast of Light Magic Power from Bronin, the bone-chilling coldness nearly causing Solonberg’s own body to stiffen. The Light Magic Power that surged along his own knight spear almost penetrated his body’s depths; had he not promptly activated his Frost Fighting Qi to counter it, Solonberg would have been utterly humiliated from the very first move. Bronin did not fare any better, as the intense wave from the Frost Fighting Qi and the doubly impactful Frost Magic made him break into a cold sweat before his leaping body finally found relief upon landing. A stiff landing would have spelled the end of his life’s knightly honor. After this collision, both parties dared not underestimate each other anymore, realizing that a full-powered life-and-death struggle was key to victory.
The showdown between Lecler and Vladimir Koff turned into a life-or-death situation as soon as they faced each other. The real clash between Dark Fighting Qi and Light Fighting Qi left no room for tricks; the incompatible Fighting Qis interwove in midair, swallowing each other, casting myriad bands of alien light. The intense collision and conflict took both proud Knights by surprise; the mutual strikes of Dark Fighting Qi and Light Fighting Qi made the air within a radius of three zhang hum with the howl of Fierce Wind and rumble of thunder, signifying atmospheric anomalies and visible deformations of air waves as powerful forces collided, twisting the very space, keeping both Homer Knights and Barbarian Warriors from coming any closer.
