Chapter 686: Volume Nineteen: Lost Horizon Chapter Fifteen: Setting Up the Plan
Komer’s face also revealed a warm smile. He equally did not expect the Red-haired Witch Katrina, famed and invincible across the Mediterranean among pirates, to not only have a resounding reputation but also be a highly skilled Mental Magic Practitioner. Mere moments ago, the show of power she used to intimidate him allowed Komer to deduce that she had surpassed the power of a Magician and possessed the level of a Mage. For Mental Magic Practitioners to reach the status of a Mage differs slightly from other Magic Practitioners; it requires a greater demand for mental control. To some extent, Psychic Mages place more emphasis on exercising their own spirit, with greater risks involved.
No wonder this Red-haired Witch could command the winds and waves in the Mediterranean. A Psychic Mage as a leader naturally has an absolute advantage in maintaining loyalty and unity within a pirate group. It’s also no wonder the Gray Skull, even after obtaining the Mirror of Thousand Miles and the Magic-armed gun I provided, still could not defeat the Carter Fleet in the North Mediterranean completely.
"Miss Katrina, I am nothing but a wandering Bard, and I am very interested in the legendary tales of Miss Katrina in this region. I would like to interview you to understand your legendary life experiences to gather material for creation. Would that be convenient for you, Miss Katrina?"
Komer’s courteous manner of speaking surprised Katrina even more; things were getting increasingly interesting. A Bard wanting to interview her for material to compose stories to sing her glorious deeds far and wide—did he not know what she does? Katrina couldn’t help but smile, realizing that this Bard was no simple character. But she didn’t care. On her own turf, she was confident in controlling the situation, no matter who it was—and her intuition told her that the other party didn’t seem to harbor much hostility.
"Oh? Interviewing me? Sure, most welcome. What exactly would you like to know? I’m very willing to cooperate with you. My Carter Fleet needs someone to highlight its reputation too." Katrina leaned her elbow on the chair’s armrest, becoming even more relaxed. The black dragon pattern intricately embroidered on her left leg’s riding pants seemed to come to life, and her suede boots covering her calves made her appear even more dashing. She seemed rather interested in Komer’s request.
"Uh, I’d like to learn a bit of everything. I’m planning to stay here for a period of time, to understand the everyday life of the Carter Fleet ruling the Mediterranean and at the same time, I hope to know more about the Carter Fleet in order to lay a good foundation for depicting and bolstering your grand image. Would you agree to this, Miss Katrina?"
Komer smiled and nodded, finding humor in how this female Devil was keeping her cool, still willing to banter with him at this time. He wanted to see just how long she could keep up her charade with him.
While Katrina’s inner turmoil mixed with slight fear and unease, her exterior remained as gentle as a spring breeze. The psychic probing spell she had been using to explore Komer’s presence had been roaming around him for some time, yet the various signs emanating from within him made Katrina unsure of herself. The complex and fluctuating mana made her probing spell totally ineffective, confirming nothing other than her opponent’s boundless power and solid spiritual strength. This made Katrina even more suspicious and wary. Could it be that her opponent, a top-notch master sent by her enemies, had come here alone to capture her in a swift strike?
Even as Katrina felt increasingly unsettled, she gathered her Fighting Qi while quietly elevating her spiritual power to the highest realm, all while maintaining a composed exterior. This amused Komer, who already knew every variation in the female Devil’s body quite well.
Having returned from a Different Realm, the Dark Magic Force within him had reached a terrifying level; the magical power left by Kennifer III was finally fully ignited in this life-and-death battle that had stimulated Komer’s endless potential. Not only was Kennifer III’s magic power and memories completely released within Komer’s mind and body during this peak showdown, but also the spiritual control power that Komer had not hitherto absorbed was slowly melting into his heart in this struggle across space.
The ten days of desolate life on Zago Island were also greatly beneficial to Komer. Previously somewhat out of control due to the sudden surge of magic power within him, he took this time to adjust himself properly. Watching by day and meditating by night, he was able to sort through and digest Kennifer III’s past life memories and the various scholarly knowledges contained in the treasure of Damarlinsk Castle. Now, Komer was confident that while he might not claim to have undergone a complete transformation, if he were to confront Lorenzo or Noyola again, he would have no fear.
Though this female Devil increasing her power might far excel him in martial arts, her spirit magic seemed pitifully weak before him. It was clear that she had realized that he was not an easy opponent, yet she did not quite comprehend his intentions.
Looking at her somewhat mocking and arrogant pose, her arms crossed in defiance, Katrina felt a chill in her heart; undoubtedly, an extremely skilled master! Facing her nearly substantial Fighting Qi with an attitude of careless indifference, Katrina couldn’t believe that her opponent would be completely unaware of her Fighting Qi, now radiating from within her. To display such composure, besides having absolute confidence in his own powers, Katrina could not figure out what else could account for his fearless demeanor.
