Chapter 454: Volume 9: Phantom of the Ancient Castle Chapter 10: Counterattack_2

Balmore, while chasing after two shadows zipping through the encirclement of his own camp like lightning, clearly realized that these two figures far exceeded his and Baron Haranto’s strength. The shadows split and joined back swiftly, and almost every lunge resulted in the death of two or three high-level warriors beneath their spears. These were the elite of his army, each capable of serving as a Centurion or higher, yet the line formed of these martially adept high-level warriors might as well have been made of paper in front of the two shadows.

Solonberg was growing increasingly impatient. These damned warriors had surprisingly tenacious strength and fearless spirits, which he and Vladimir Koff found astonishing, but that did not stop their combined attack.

However, killing the opponent with their speed advantage was too slow a process. The two enemies at their rear, despite being unable to pose a substantial threat, never gave up their pursuit, doggedly tailing them like shadows, seemingly waiting for the moment the two of them were exhausted to deliver the final blow—a naïve thought.

Exchanging a glance with Vladimir Koff who passed by, the two of them almost simultaneously soared into the sky, leaving the two pursuing enemies suddenly exposed in front of them. Having switched positions, Solonberg and Vladimir Koff struck decisively at the same moment. The tips of their Knight Spears erupted with a dark glow so intense it made one’s pupils contract.

Baron Haranto’s heart sank abruptly. Just by the burst of dark light at the tip of the opponent’s Knight Spear, he knew the extent of power unleashed, but there was no turning back. Gritting his teeth, he raised his Knight Spear to meet the onslaught.

The clash of the two Knight Spears sent Baron Haranto spinning out like a severed kite; despite his best effort to maintain his posture in mid-air, the severe damage inflicted by the strike rendered him incapable. Fortunately, several soldiers immediately caught the Baron, collectively cushioning him. The immense impact caused three of the soldiers who caught him to immediately cough up blood and collapse, but this at least saved the Baron’s life.

The cunning Balmore sensed trouble the moment the two Dark Knights swapped places and rose into the sky. With the attack coming so suddenly, he had no time to evade. Suppressing the fear in his heart, Balmore quickly dampened the power in his Knight Spear, focusing his main energy into his body. Wood Defense Magic and Evasion Technique were activated almost at once. As his Knight Spear was blown out of his hand by a powerful strike, Balmore’s body also drifted sideways and blood spurted from his mouth, but at least he managed to stabilize his form upon landing.

Vladimir Koff couldn’t help but respect the cunning of his opponent who had not retained much power in his Knight Spear. His full-force strike felt as though it had hit nothing. Even though the explosive burst of Fighting Qi still inflicted considerable injury on his opponent, it was not a substantial contact. Compared to the guy who recklessly resisted Solonberg, this one, though seemingly gloomy on the surface, had not suffered much damage to his vitality, Vladimir Koff knew.

As the two Dark Knights launched their sudden attack, the Magicians hidden amidst the Half-Beastmen Armaments also began to activate the magic feast they had long prepared.

To create a more effective outcome and achieve a swift victory, Komer and Rebury jointly initiated the pre-arranged Magic Array—"Thunder Shock."

This was a Thunder Magic Array which required not only powerful Magic Power to drive but also a sustained reserve of Elemental Magic Power to maintain. Neither Komer nor Rebury alone were at the level to complete this grand Magic Array; the only way was for them to collaborate.

In just a few seconds, the entire sky was obscured by dark clouds that surged tumultuously, resembling the roiling sea. Komer had already taken two doses of Stimulant to fully activate his potential after acquiring the Magic Crystal power along with the profound exploration of the Black crystal staff and the constant use of auxiliary magic by Rebury to help replenish Magic Power and amplify the effects of the magic. With their full effort, "Thunder Shock," a major integrated spell from the thunder-based magic repertoire, was at last unleashed.

Nearly everyone gazed at the approaching clouds in the sky with a look of terror, so much so that even a few Magicians who had escaped with their lives forgot their own peril and stared blankly at the sky.

The swirling clouds split and merged until a crack appeared, and a leg as thick as a hundred-year-old tree protruded. Soon after, the vague form of the Thunder God emerged. His thick arm, adorned with striking silver bracelets and a beautiful hammer in hand, pulsated with arcs of electricity. When the Thunder God’s indistinct yet fierce face finally materialized at the highest point in the clouds, "Thunder Shock," the integrated Magic Array, was ready to be deployed.
