Chapter 438: Volume 9: Phantom of the Ancient Castle, Chapter 5: Rebirth
In contrast, the weapons and armor wielded by the two Dark Knights seemed rather inferior. The dull, lusterless long sword in Vladimir Koff’s hands was clearly an antique, yet Komer evidently lacked knowledge in this area.
However, the Dark Knight generously informed Komer that it was one of the creations of the famous Dwarf forge master Ou Yezi from hundreds of years ago, and its rarity could be discerned simply from the choice of materials used to forge this long sword.
The sword, which appeared unadorned to the eye, was entirely forged from a dark series magic metal—Ghostly Sand.
Ghostly Sand was not originally classified as a magic metal, but it possessed certain properties of magic metals and was exceptionally tough. However, to refine the fine grains of Ghostly Sand, melt them into shape, and finally craft them into a Hundred-refined long sword, not only did it require considerable time and effort, but it also demanded expert control of the firing temperature by the Caster.
If the smelting was insufficient, the resulting product would be fragile and break easily, rendering it scrap. On the other hand, if the smelting was excessive, the product might have enough flexibility but lack stiffness, diminishing the sword’s sharpness. Therefore, over the hundreds of years on the Blue Continent, no one but a Dwarven smelting master could undertake such crafting.
Vladimir Koff was also not clear about the name of this long sword; after all, Ou Yezi had produced many famous weapons in his lifetime. Many peerless masterpieces have been passed down, but many others remain undiscovered, and their true names are difficult to know.
The flexible armor that Solonberg was meticulously wiping was also a masterpiece by a dwarven giant. Komer could discern some clues about this piece; it was unequivocally Anti-magic Armor, the type of armor favored by Knights to withstand Magic Attacks.
For a long time, Knights who pursued Martial Dao and Magicians who explored the laws of Magic Heaven had different goals and, in principle, should not have conflicts. However, living on the Continent, no one could truly escape from secular interests, and often for their own benefits, Knights and Magicians could stand on the same front line, and naturally, they could also stand on opposing stands.
The confrontation between Knights and Magicians has always been a focal point of interest, with the question of who truly rules the Continent troubling every race since the existence of the Continent, but to this day, there is still no clear conclusion.
Simply put, when a Knight surpasses the Magician they face, they can use their powerful Fighting Qi to withstand the Magician’s Magic Attacks and then defeat the opponent with their Martial Arts. Likewise, if the Magician’s strength is greater than the Knight’s, they can naturally cast powerful spells to directly eliminate their foe.
This has always been a paradoxical union, and no champion can claim victory before facing the strength of their opponent. Many of the most glorious moments on the Continent entail confrontations between Knights and Magicians, with the outcomes seeming to split at an even fifty-fifty. This debate seems endless.
In response to Magicians who often had the advantage of striking first, landing an initial hit on the Knights, Casters sought ways to develop Anti-magic Armor.
Of course, these Anti-magic Armors could not completely defend against various Magic Attacks from Magicians, but in addition to resisting Physical Attacks like typical armor, Casters also experimented with incorporating Magic metal minerals and Magic non-metal minerals into the raw materials used to make armor, endowing the armor with additional properties and counteractive attributes unique to these metals or non-metals.
Some Magicians later joined the casting and smelting profession, further utilizing Magic blessings and Condensation Spells in the manufacturing process, which significantly elevated the production level of Anti-magic Armor.
The construction of Anti-magic Armor demanded precise craftsmanship and high difficulty, with a substantial failure rate; coupled with expensive materials, this type of armor inevitably commanded a high price and even became a luxury good circulating in high society. Besides a few wealthy upper-level Knights, ordinary Knights naturally dared not inquire about it.
The flexible armor Solonberg was holding was clearly a highly precious piece of Anti-magic Armor.
The smooth helmet seemed more suited to Warriors or Warriors than to Knights who valued appearance and poise, but this radiant set of silver armor was quite soft to the touch. It felt delicate and thin, and if worn under a Knight’s coat, it would not show any sign of being out of the ordinary.
Komer could feel the flow of restrained water-based Magic power, indicating that this was a set of Anti-magic Armor designed against Fire and Thunder Magic, with considerable protective ability against Earth Magic as well. There was also a highly conspicuous Magic incantation mark on the right shoulder of the armor, a sign a Mage had applied additional Magic to it. To ascertain which spells the Mage had employed, one would need someone who specialized in studying these intricate and peculiar Magic incantations.
Yet, the greatest gain for Komer was not in possessing the Aladdin Scepter given up by Rebry, nor the shelves full of precious Magic books and ancient Continent history books. It was the Light Mage he held in his hand. Ever since this Woman had arrived, that uneasy feeling of oppression in his heart had vanished after she was bound, leaving him in an unexpectedly pleasant and comfortable state.
In light of the complex geography within the Damarlinsk Castle underground palace, as well as the likelihood of unknown dangers lurking within, the adventure group unanimously agreed that it would be best to hold off on proceeding with the next step in their exploration plan. Especially the emergence of numerous Exotic Magical Beast Variants served as a warning to everyone.
