Chapter 348: Volume 6: Cautious Planning Chapter 8: Earth Dragon Warrior_2
"An attack initiated from outside the battlefield? Lordship, are you out of your mind? Ogre hide is impervious even to swords and spears, and javelins are equally ineffective. How could we possibly launch an attack? Apart from the Earth Dragon Warrior’s Dragon Spears that can inflict some damage, I’m afraid only this knife in my hands could do anything. Your suggestion, is it... Forget it, you two had better get away and hide sooner rather than later, before the horrific spectacle here scares you noble lords stiff." He abruptly stopped himself, remembering that Komer had once helped his own people through a difficult time, and even the Chain Bead, used by the Great Chieftain as a token of trust, was still in the other’s possession. The towering man, his face burning with anger, turned his head away, no longer wanting to pay attention to this Lord with somewhat questionable thinking.
"Mr. Wollin, please hear out our Boss’s words. Without three parts of bravery, who dares to climb Mount Liang? The three skins of ogres on my back are artworks of us two, their stench of blood still not faded. Surely that’s somewhat better than those who spend half a day surrounded by hundreds and fail to come up with a solution," Ilot couldn’t help but burst with anger. The other side clearly regarded his group as nothing but pushovers, not considering for a moment that if the two of them dared to come here, they were surely not so easy to contend with. He completely forgot the sorry and pathetic situation they had found themselves when facing the ogre just before.
"What?!" A dazzling gleam suddenly exploded in the towering man’s eyes, sweeping across the faces of Komer and Ilot like needle-sharp bristles, making them both feel that the person before them was far more than just a common Barbarian officer they had first imagined.
But at this moment, Ilot, too, felt as strong as a bull. With these incredibly formidable Barbarian Warriors as shields, and his own Boss, a magic genius, casting from behind, surely this battle would not be as life-threatening as the last one, no matter what.
"Look, what is this? This is the skin I just stripped from a three-headed ogre, no fake. I tell you, it takes both strength and wisdom to deal with these cretins, sheer bravery can’t solve everything. Even with peerless martial power, here we have eight ogres. Could you slay eight ogres alone?"
Those somewhat sharp words did not anger the towering man; his attention was fully captured by the ogre skin spread out by Ilot, truly freshly peeled, the pungent smell of blood enough to prove the ogres’ time of death was not more than two hours ago, which means the howls that came from the north earlier were indeed from these two men as they were slaying the ogres.
"Lordship, so it’s truly the case that you two personally slew these three ogres?" Although he knew it was somewhat impolite to ask, the towering man still wanted to hear the answer from their mouths.
"Hmm, that’s about right. Ilot took action, but I also lent a hand." Komer knew the implication behind the other’s words and his calm composure didn’t waver the slightest.
"Just you two killed three ogres?" The towering man pressed on, unable to believe that the two in front of him were capable of such feats. The young man who claimed to be a Caucasus Lord did not look impressive, with no signs of extraordinary features on him, and the other one appeared to be an incomplete bottle of vinegar. To think that he could have managed to escape from an ogre’s clutches was already a miracle, not to mention slaying one. The towering man’s brain was at a loss.
"Hehe, it seems Mr. Wollin finds it slightly unbelievable. Would you like our Boss to give you a little demonstration?" Ilot cheekily responded.
Seeing the assured confidence of the duo, the towering man’s eyes contracted slightly before he earnestly said, "If you could demonstrate, Wollin would be greatly grateful."
Komer looked at the towering man before him with some admiration. Barbarians were known for their pride. It was hard for them to humble themselves before others, with their ethos being that heads may roll, blood may flow, but their dignity was never to be lost, especially in front of Mortals whom they typically held in contempt. Yet this towering man, for the sake of his subordinates, could lower himself to ask for help, and that moved Komer.
A Magic Wand, as white as jade, silently appeared in Komer’s hand, sparking astonishment in the towering man’s eyes. It was at this point he finally realized why Komer and his companion were so confident. So that was it!
"So Lordship is a Mage?!" The towering man nodded vigorously without a word, "To think Lordship is proficient in magic, no wonder you could eliminate the ogres with such ease!"
"You flatter me. Komer has merely dabbled in magic, far from proficient. However, I am indeed willing to help in getting rid of these damned creatures," Komer’s tone was very modest, but he was full of confidence in dealing with those ogres.
"If Lordship assists us with his magic, then these Magical Beasts surely won’t be any trouble." The towering man finally accepted the reality that having a Lord adept in magic was an unavoidable fact. A Mage with powerful Magic Skills becoming a neighbor of his people, whether this was good or bad was unclear to him, and a shadow passed over his heart, but this wasn’t the time to ponder such thoughts.
