Chapter 228: Chapter 3: Frenzy
The Door slowly swung open, and under the illumination of the Sphere of Light Spell, every detail of the dark Passage inside and out was visible. Yet to everyone’s surprise, no reaction came from the opening of the Door. The dazzling light of the Sphere of Light Spell pierced through, revealing an inner passageway that seemed long abandoned. Suddenly, as if someone had opened the Door, a thin mist, dust-like and faint, began to seep out unnoticed, subtly permeating into the outside air.
"What’s going on? It seems like there’s nothing unusual. Newman, are you sure this is our target?" Rebry looked into the empty space beyond the Door with some confusion,
"Yes, Rebry, look at this passage we’ve reached the end, and no matter whether it’s the end of the entire secret path or not, think about how many ambushes and traps have been set here. Then think about the dangers we’ve encountered. I bet there’s definitely something worth coming here for. Look! There’s another Secret door, and, hmm, there seems to be a Ban here as well. Let me take a closer look." Newman, the first to step into the Passage’s Doorway, couldn’t wait to draw out a Detection Ruler and started to probe carefully. This Detection Ruler not only had extremely sensitive Magic power sensing capabilities but could also deduce and calculate traps, making it one of Newman’s favourite Instruments.
After a tense period of probing and calculating, Newman finally let out a sigh of relief. The Secret door appeared to have no traps according to the Detection Ruler and was quite normal. Still, it required a series of complex calculations to find the method to trigger it open. Luckily for Newman, this set of calculations were his forte. Through mental arithmetic, Newman had figured out that to open the Secret door, he only needed to press and turn the center of the seventh circle counted from the left on the countless circles on the door’s surface.
The Sphere of Light Spell suddenly went out, and it was replaced by an even brighter Holy Light Spell that illuminated the entire Passage inside and out. Amidst the startled gazes of the others, the Mysterious Magician’s eyes seemed to flicker with confusion and disarray. The sudden rise of the Holy Light Spell at this time seemed somewhat meaningless and possibly even provocative, as most of the people present were harboring Dark Magic Power. On some level, the Holy Light Spell that unabashedly shone on everyone was akin to a declaration of war, the Holy Light Power engulfing everyone present and potentially weakening the Dark Magic Power, even Mihailovich sensed something amiss.
"Miss Lome, what’s wrong with you? Please put away your Holy Light Spell, it’s not suitable here!" Although his tone had grown much harsher, the Puppet Mage still managed to maintain considerable politeness in his words.
Ignoring the Puppet Mage’s words, the Mysterious Magician’s fingers snapped together, and then she abruptly scattered something into the air as if throwing an object. A series of Light magic attacks were launched fiercely at the Dark Knight, who remained highly vigilant. "Azure Holy Flame" and "Flying Snow Filling the Sky," two consecutive high-level Light spells, appeared unannounced above the Dark Knight’s head. "Azure Holy Flame" formed a Light Ball that quickly became a fire basin-sized sphere of Luminous Flame in mid-air, seemingly attracting all nearby light and shadow, casting it upon the Dark Knight’s head who was already prepared for the onslaught.
And "Flying Snow Filling the Sky" erupted from a wide band of Luminous Flame, fluttering down and locking onto the Dark Knight’s entire body. Despite the fact that Vladimir Koff’s Fighting Qi had reached its peak, each flake of Luminous Flame that fell sparked a series of tiny, crackling explosions upon contact with the vigorous Fighting Qi.
In a mix of shock and rage, the Dark Knight could no longer care about decorum. His Knight Spear surged forth, drawing a long, dark shadow aimed straight for the throat of the Mysterious Magician. The Mysterious Magician moved fluidly a strange footwork enabling her to swiftly change direction while her hands continuously unleashed pure and grand Light Magic attacks, growing more fierce and aggressive, as if she were fighting a mortal enemy, and enveloping another eager Dark Knight who was nearby as well.
Solberg had been prepared mentally; the Fierce Wind from his Knight Spear collaborated with Vladimir Koff to block the Mysterious Magician’s drifting silhouette. At that moment, the Mysterious Magician’s body was already floating, chanting spells non-stop, with her large cloak slowly wafting in the air and her face securely hidden, making her look more like a Dark wizard casting a spell.
Komer, with his arms crossed, watched everything unfold with a cold gaze. An unusual emotion surged within him. After taking a deep breath, he was surprised to find his emotions fluctuating, and the notion of testing his mettle against this Mysterious Magician grew stronger. Moving his attention inwardly, he examined himself and realized that an inner tide of anger was increasingly turbulent—a clear sign of external influence. But the struggle between the Mysterious Magician and the two Dark Knights surely couldn’t cause such turmoil in his heart, could it?
Taking a sharp breath, he concentrated on distinguishing the almost imperceptible scent in the air. Glancing at Rebry and Mihailovich, who both seemed excited, thirsty for blood to the point of licking their lips, even Newman had set aside his tools, eagerly focusing on the battling pair, "Fog of Madness!"
