Chapter 1038: Volume 33, Where to Go, Chapter 26, The Battle that Sways the City (9)
To counter this type of mixed magic, the best approach was to employ the same method against the caster, and Rebry was certainly aware of his old friend Lorenzo’s magical foundation. To easily crush his opponent was clearly impossible; this was a grueling and enduring battle. It was far too early to presume who would win or lose.
The slate-grey Mage Robe bulged slightly as Rebry lightly brought his hands together, staring straight ahead with his eyes, while his index and middle fingers continuously changed gestures. His lips also moved subtly, as if he was casting some kind of silent spell.
Soon, under a brilliant sunshine-filled sky, some anomalies began to occur, as if a chill wind blew in from the horizon. The sunlight seemed to suddenly grow dim, and a sweep of black shadow flashed across the sky, stirring up a fierce wind above the Obelisk.
The violent wind stirred the air and threw the elemental aura into chaos. Magicians could feel the Magic Elements wildly scattering throughout space, much like a massive spell had lost control. The surging elemental aura was penetrating everywhere, with a rapidly growing intensity, which left the magicians both shocked and frightened. Could this be a Magic Array gone out of control, or was it a sign of a grand magical ritual? And who would be the target of this magic?
Another mixed magic?! Lorenzo also felt his opponent’s attack power. It seemed his old friend had also brought some "surprises" for him. It appeared that not only had he been advancing his skills, but his opponent had not fallen behind one bit.
The wild elemental aura disrupted the effectiveness of the Light Charm completely, and at the same time, that black shadow locked onto him. It seemed Rebry was not only intent on destroying the power of the Light Charm but also aimed directly at him, seeking to eradicate him root and branch!
The shadow multiplied several times in just an instant, striking down at Lorenzo with the ferocity of thunder.
Lorenzo’s expression turned solemn. From the moment he took that step, Lorenzo knew that this battle with his old friend would be a fight to the death, a battle that would determine the fate of both, with no one holding back.
His fingers gracefully waved through the air, conjuring a splendid wave-shaped Light Shield that proudly appeared above Lorenzo’s head. Though it was a passive response to the attack, the fierce dark shadow could not penetrate the pale yellow Light Shield, which seemed to absorb the dark shadows cast from above like endless specks of dust.
Rebry’s expression shifted slightly; this was the Shield of the Holy Angel!
Back when he first joined the Church of Light, his greatest wish had been to have the ability to unleash the Shield of the Holy Angel. It could absorb any force antithetical to it, especially those of the dark kind. Although he had successfully cast mixed magic just now, and Elemental Magic had had the desired effect he wanted to see, he hadn’t anticipated that his opponent would counter his stronger Dark Devouring Power.
Rebry slammed his Scepter into the ground with a fierce thrust, and a surge of dark energy erupted suddenly!
The entire ground seemed to tremble slightly, and before Lorenzo even had a chance to react, he felt a sucking force from the west trapping his feet, and in the blink of an eye, the ground had sunk to his knees, with boiling mud surging up as if it intended to submerge Lorenzo’s entire body.
"Such formidable Earth Magic!" Caesar couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows, although he also knew that just this move alone wouldn’t be enough to end one of the two titans of the Court, he was still somewhat worried about the damage this move could do to Lorenzo, after all, launching such a swift and aggressive Earth Magic attack at such a close distance, one couldn’t deny that the Church of Light traitor had reached a masterly level of proficiency in the use of Elemental Magic.
Lorenzo also furrowed his brows slightly; Rebry’s accomplishment in Elemental Magic was somewhat beyond his expectations. Using Elemental Magic to combat his own Light Magic—could this be Rebry’s style? No, this was definitely not Rebry’s style; it was merely Rebry’s Blinding Method. What he truly intended to do was to use Elemental Magic to numb his senses, his real cunning plot would undoubtedly stem from Dark Magic!
With a light lift of his body, scintillating Magic power infused within, Lorenzo silently recited a spell, the Light Force flowed along his body, immediately isolating that engulfing force, with a leap and a hoist of his body, he had already left behind the boiling mud terrain.
"God of Light, grant the power of saints, Master of Restoration, counterattack!" A brief pallor crossed Lorenzo’s face, a faint mist of light slipped through his fingertips into the mud, and the churning mud, like suddenly encountering a freeze, instantly solidified into a volcanic, magma-like crater.
The surging Holy Light Power at that moment passed through Rebry’s feet and barged into his chest and abdomen, the intense pain almost shattered the Dark Origin within Rebry’s body!
Rebry had already successfully cultivated dual origins within himself; the origin of Light had already submerged into the depths of his body, and the origin of Magic power that ruled his body had completely turned dark. This touch of scorching Light Power seared him almost to the point of crying out; had it not been for his timely reinforcement spells, Lorenzo’s unexpectedly ingenious move might have utterly defeated him!
Double reinforcement allowed the Dark Power to rise swiftly, eroding the intense heat within, Rebry realized that Lorenzo’s counterattack was so fierce. Obviously, his opponent thought the same as him: instead of proving oneself with Magic, it’s better to destroy the very source of Magic power directly—for only that constituted the most authentic and thorough victory. Of course, to achieve this victory, the risks involved were also much greater!
Since that’s the case, let’s have a real and earth-shattering collision!
Having successfully disrupted the Light Magic’s charm with his interference, Solonberg and his two companions finally managed to fight back from the brink, bit by bit. Such a tough battle was truly thrilling; Sword Qi and blade light raged, casting shadows, and the spiraling, dancing images of Knight Spears filled with Magic power made all the Knights on the Battlefield unable to help but fix their eyes on the epic clash, knowing full well it was a fight to the death.
"Quintana, it’s your turn!" Caesar took a deep breath, "Quick battle, quick decision, no need to hold back anymore!"
A streak of white light flashed and landed in the middle of both camps. The bright, translucent Knight Spear held by this slightly shorter Knight seemed a bit awkward, but no one dared to underestimate this diminutive Knight; he was also the deputy chief of the Windriding Knights, a Holy God Knight who had almost stepped into the sacred realm!
