Chapter 1036: Volume 33, Where to Go, Chapter 24, The Battle that Sways the City (7)
Stari’s unusual behavior caught the attention of Iris by his side. As one of the two greatest forces of the Jellyfish People, Iris had always kept her eyes on Caesar. She knew that since Komer had invited them with the health of the Jellyfish People as a bargaining chip, one could imagine the difficulty level of this war. There were many strong individuals by Komer’s side, but still, he spared no effort to bring her and Stari here, demonstrating the strength of their opponent.
"Stari, have you discovered something?"
"Iris, have you noticed that Female Knight?" Stari whispered quietly.
"Hmph, I knew it as soon as she appeared, it’s that Ice Dragon, isn’t it? Komer really has some ability, to actually subdue that Ice Dragon. I can say with certainty that the Ice Dragon was captured by Komer after our battle." Iris glanced over and then looked away, speaking indifferently.
"Oh? You noticed her early?" Stari was surprised.
"I knew as soon as she appeared." Iris kept her composure, "Komer really is sparing no expense for this battle."
"Hmph, if that Ice Dragon truly transformed to join the fight, Komer would have already secured his victory in this battle." Stari scoffed, "There’s no need for us to join the fight."
"It’s not that simple, Stari. Never underestimate that Caesar. All that we can observe and infer is just the surface, do you think he can’t feel the presence of that Ice Dragon?" Iris shook her head, "But he doesn’t care at all, such confidence must come from his strength, not arrogance. Just look at those four Silver Armored Knights behind him, each one has definitely surpassed the so-called Paladin stage of humans. Even if the two of us join forces, we might not be able to take down one of them!"
Stari was taken aback and carefully observed those four knights behind Caesar, clad in silver armor. Like statues, they stood silently behind Caesar, calmly gazing into the distance, seemingly unaware of the tense atmosphere before them.
Calmness implies a peaceful mind, which is precisely the minimum requirement of a Paladin; unflinching in the face of a mountain collapse, with only the goal in mind.
"They are ultimate experts, but those behind Komer are no ordinary people either." Stari spoke gravely.
"Judging solely by their momentum, the opponent has already secured an invincible position. If Komer doesn’t have other surprise troops, it’s unlikely he could turn the tables." Iris remained expressionless, "Even if the Ice Dragon transforms into its dragon form, it’s still not a match for Caesar. I’ve carefully probed Caesar, and I can only describe him with four words: Unfathomably deep. Aside from the four Silver Armored Knights, even the twenty or so Knights behind them have nearly reached the Paladin Level. Komer’s side simply doesn’t have the strength to contend."
Stari remained silent; in fact, he also felt that the real issue was not with Caesar and the four Silver Armored Knights. Caesar may be powerful, but if the Ice Dragon transformed and had Komer’s support, defeating the two of them together would hardly be easy. Stari and Iris could hold their own against one of the four knights, while the so-called Eagle of Basarabia and her three companions were on par with Stari and Iris joined forces, so they could take down one as well. The other two Silver Armored Knights could be fully suppressed by the strength displayed by the Black Flame Knight Order.
However, the problem lay with the remaining twenty or so Windriding Knights. This was an overwhelmingly powerful force, and the elites chosen from the Three Great Knights led by the Homer Knights were simply not enough to contend with this force. But had Komer not considered this? Both Iris and Stari harbored doubts. Komer, with his meticulous and careful plans, seemed unlikely to make such a big mistake—unless he had a hidden trump card?
Caesar’s gaze swept across Komer and landed behind him, "Mr. Lecler?"
"Sir Caesar, it’s been twenty years since we last met, and you still carry the same grace." Lecler’s face showed a complex expression. The years since that day in Gutenberg had flown by; twenty years turned him from a graceful youth into middle age, while Caesar seemed unchanged, still as imposing as before.
"Are the Homer Knights also going to get involved in this conflict that doesn’t concern you?" Caesar asked with a smile.
"Sir Caesar, do you think we could remain uninvolved?" After sighing softly, Lecler spoke bitterly.
Komer stood quietly aside, listening to the Wind Riding Knight Leader, whose cunning seemed no less than his martial arts.
He had already communicated with the leaders of the Three Great Knights, who were local nobility, before the event. He didn’t waste much time talking, simply telling them why he was determined to engage in this battle at all costs, and what the consequences of defeat would be. Secular interests should not be controlled and manipulated by a religious power that ought to be above worldly matters. Just that reason alone was enough to touch the hearts of the nobles. If secular power was to be controlled and distributed by the Church, then what was the point of being a noble?
A flash of cold sharpness swept past Caesar’s eyes, it seemed that Noyola and Lorenzo were right—his opponent was a master of calculation. Not only had he drawn the Dark Forces here, but he had also successfully rallied the entire power stratum of Nicosia under his command, even inciting a dragon to bolster his ranks, no wonder this man was confident he could fight a battle.
It appeared that this battle was indeed beyond his expectations, but such a war was interesting. He would soon make his opponent understand what it meant to ’lash out against overwhelming odds.’
"Lord Komer, it seems that the differences between us are irreconcilable, and I presume you never intended to compromise, did you?" Seeing the calm yet resolute look in Komer’s eyes, Caesar sighed with some regret and shook his head. "You might despise it, but I still plan to give you a chance. If you can let go of everything now, I can guarantee your life’s safety, and even everything you have in the secular world, as long as you..."
Komer let out a light chuckle, interrupting Caesar, "No need to say more, Sir Caesar, you have already answered for me, haven’t you?"
"What a pity, then we might have no choice but to resolve this in another way," Caesar said with a graceful shrug of his shoulders.
"Isn’t that so? To think that my first meeting with Sir Caesar would be in such a manner, I too am filled with regret," Komer replied with a slight nod and a smile.
"Then let us begin, to fight for our respective pursuits and dreams!" Caesar said with a nod, standing tall, "Macroni!"
A dazzling rainbow of seven colors suddenly unfolded in front of Komer, the fan-shaped arc of light slowly but swiftly expanding, threatening to swallow Komer in an instant.
"Illusionary Sword of Mirage!" Lome exclaimed in surprise, as Rebry’s eyes also sparkled with amazement, never expecting that the supreme light technique of exorcising demons, which had been lost from the Continent for nearly one hundred years, would appear in Macroni, a Sky-level Saint Knight of the Wind Riders.
Komer’s ghost-like figure darted out ten meters in an instant, but the slowly approaching rainbow of light, like an endlessly expanding mirage, suddenly grew threefold, seemingly about to sweep up everyone behind Komer.
Black wheels of light floated up in time, like a roaring black dragon entering the fray with a flash, stirring up a sky full of formidable torrents.
Solonberg clenched his teeth tightly, the burning power from the Illusionary Sword was exceptionally strong, nearly eroding half of his freshly unleashed Frost Fighting Qi, the force of the penetrating power squeezed his Frost Fighting Qi continuously, shrinking it. Other than constantly urging his Fighting Qi to burst out, he found that he seemed to have no other way to resist, but how long could such a battle last?
A tremor went through Komer’s heart, as he had not expected Solonberg to almost immediately fall into a tough battle upon engagement, it was no wonder the Wind Riders were so arrogant with such capital at their disposal.
Two shades of grayish-blue spear shadows, one above and one below, joined the fray—Morssen and Peter, two Fallen Knights who could hardly contain their excitement. The chance to cross spears with the knights of the Wind Riders, hailed as the first knight order on the Continent, was an opportunity of a lifetime for those who had long wandered the Dark World. Experiencing the tempering of Light Power was undoubtedly a brilliant opportunity to stimulate their hidden potential, even if it might come at a considerable cost, it was worth it.
A cross-shaped tear mark formed from their intersecting shadows, the Fighting Qi concentrated fully on their weapons coiled into countless strands of lethal aura.
Macroni swung his Knight’s Sword, and as the spinning seven-colored light accepted the two strands of Sword Qi, it became significantly slower. Yet, he maintained his aggressive attacks on the three men, the flickering sword shadows launching countless fierce assaults from every conceivable angle, stirring up the air into a maelicious turbulence, creating a series of blurry illusions as if they were enveloped in mist.
Caesar, unnoticed by others, furrowed his brow. Macroni was actually held back by three nobodies. Though he still held the advantage, it was not enough to secure a victory unless Macroni changed his current mode of attack. However, Caesar was not yet ready to let Macroni take risks; he had far too many cards to play.
"Hilton, it looks like they want to witness more of our Wind Roses Knight’s brilliance, what do you say?" Caesar’s gaze shifted to the knight whose eyes were narrowed.
"As they wish," The knight’s eyes suddenly opened wide, and almost at the same time, the figure leaped forward in a sinister glide, rapidly ascending in mid-flight, the two sections of his lance already combining into a double-headed Knight Spear!
