Chapter 1007: Volume 32 Dark Clouds Roll In Chapter 25 Slave Hunter Team
Between the surprise of the three slave hunters’ swordsman and crossbowman, Vladimir Koff also didn’t give them any chance. His sharp long spear, like a thunderbolt, whipped up a dark energy. Merely in two exchanges, two of the slave hunters’ swordsmen found that this expressionless fellow was so dominant. Without giving them any opportunity, their long swords were forcefully split into four pieces. The other swordsman and the crossbowman found themselves embarrassingly dodging a barrage of the fireball technique, struggling futilely before lying rolled on the ground, eventually ending up at the feet of a few Black Flame Knights who disdained to draw their swords.
Both the two dark elves and the four members of the slavery crew were slow to react, not understanding who these people emerging slowly from the bushes were. They struck mercilessly without any warning, not even giving the opportunity for questions or explanations.
Vladimir Koff’s expression remained indifferent as he smoothly returned the knight spear to its sheath, watching the few before him coldly.
It should be said that Vladimir Koff held no fondness for these fellows. Dark elves, needless to say, were the intended targets of this encounter. It was obvious that dark elves infiltrating behind the Red Tree Forest would be up to no good—spies, if not scouts.
As for the defiant-looking members of the slave hunter team, Vladimir Koff had even less regard for them. Although he wasn’t a staunch anti-slavery advocate, he abhorred the slave trade, especially those who engaged in violent abduction for slaves, which he saw as an odious defilement of life.
"State your names,"
demanded Vladimir Koff, his cold voice carrying an undeniable firmness and authority.
The two dark elves seemed to recognize this as a chance to change their fates of being captured—the identities of this group were unclear, but most certainly they were not aligned with the slave hunters. On this land but for the distant slave hunters, only the Assyrian People would possess such dominance.
"Dillingha, Demu,"
"You’re dark elves?"
"Yes. May I ask if you come from the Assyria Kingdom?" In the eyes of regular elves, there was no difference in the appearance and speech of mortals, just as humans found difficulty distinguishing between elves. Although the aura emanating from Vladimir Koff’s group was different from the Assyrians they had encountered before, it was not peculiar since the Assyrians had now allied with the dark elves and cave elves and would naturally send their strong to deal with various affairs.
"Assyria Kingdom?" Vladimir Koff echoed. He didn’t normally resort to such methods to gain information, but when asked like this, he might seem overly proud if he refused the offered goodwill, "Well, what about it?"
The two dark elves were very astute and immediately sensed that Vladimir Koff was definitely not from the Assyria Kingdom; if they were, they wouldn’t treat them this way.
"You are not Assyrian People?!"
"When did I say we were Assyrian?" replied Vladimir Koff coldly, "We are not Assyrian. That’s irrelevant. Now, you two need to answer some questions for me."
The two dark elves showed angry and indomitable expressions, clearly provoked by Vladimir Koff’s manner.
"Why should we answer your questions?"
"No reason, but because your lives are in my hands, just like theirs," Vladimir Koff replied without any superfluity, "If your answers don’t satisfy me, I’m afraid your time comes to an end here."
Vladimir Koff’s calm yet chilling words carried a bone-deep coldness, leaving both the dark elves and the slave hunter team looking at each other, realizing he wasn’t jesting.
"What do you want to know?" one of the dark elves grudgingly asked.
"Why did you come here? Don’t lie; this isn’t your territory," Vladimir Koff declared, dispelling any other misconceptions the two dark elves had harbored.
"We came here to understand some matters."
"Understand some matters? What matters?"
"I’m sorry, we cannot disclose," the dark elves became defiant, "No matter who you are, you have no right to treat us like this."
"Is that so? I’m sorry, then. If you won’t speak, the two of you will just have to wait." Vladimir Koff did not wish to question further in front of the slave hunters; he had plenty of time to deal with the two dark elves, "How about you? Tell me, where do you come from? What are you doing here?"
Feeling Vladimir Koff’s gaze on them, the members of the slave hunter team grew restless, "Honorable Sir Knight, we hail from the Micah autonomous region of the Continent. We believe you are already aware of our purpose here; we possess a duly authorized slave hunting permit from the Micah autonomous region. We belong to a legal and regulated slave hunter team."
"Legal and regulated slave hunter team?" Vladimir Koff’s smile became stranger, "Legalities of your Continent are valid here on the Blue Continent as well?"
"Ah, Sir Knight, our apologies. Although there is no legal reciprocity agreement between the Continent and the Blue Continent, this land does not belong to any mortal power per se. This area is, more accurately, an elven residential territory. According to the laws of the Micah autonomous region, elves are not protected by mortal laws until they have secured recognition of status by mortal powers. Therefore, we have the right to capture them."
One swordsman argued vigorously, clearly well-prepared for such legal baiting—after all, coming from afar required comprehensive preparation.
"Hmm, how long have you been here? From where did you arrive? And how long do you plan to stay?"
"We’ve been here for over two months. Of course, we came by sea. As for the duration of stay, that will depend on our ’harvest’," the slave hunters also probed Vladimir Koff’s intentions.
"Come by sea? Hmph, I mean where on this land is your encampment? Have you been anywhere near the Mist Flower Hills?" Vladimir Koff began to lead the questioning.
The slave hunters were vigilant, "Sir Knight, it seems you wish to know something?"
"You are very perceptive," said Vladimir Koff, managing a hollow smile, "Answer my questions."
