The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 766. To the Primus

Chapter 766: 766. To the Primus

"What’s this?" Danag asked Corbin as he stood in front of him. They were in a walkway in the right section of the castle, and the young vampire suddenly appeared in front of him as though he had been waiting for him.

"Can you please look at the contents?" he asked as he stretched a letter toward Danag.

"It’s best you give this to Lord Erick. He takes care of letters that come and leave the castle." The words were barely out of his lips when he started walking again, but Corbin cut into his path once more.

"I can’t give this to Lord Erick. I-I need your help."

Danag squinted his eyes. "Erick would do a better job with this." It wasn’t that he didn’t want to help, but for the past few nights, things had turned upside down. They discovered the Primus’s mate could literally set Palers ablaze and turn them to ashes, but that wasn’t what had him in shambles. Rather, it was the fact that Damon had quit.

It had come out of the blue, but suddenly he was called into the study and given his title of commander back. When he asked the Primus why, he responded that Damon was going back to where he came from.

The next night, they had all taken Lord Levaton back to his estate, and Damon had refused to come back. Danag didn’t even get the chance to speak to him about it. Erick had completely pretended it didn’t happen and was now acting like Damon didn’t exist.

Danag wasn’t surprised he did it; he was more surprised that the Primus let Damon go. He would have assumed the Primus would stop him, but Damon, like Erick, wasn’t originally from here. Damon had followed Jevera here over a decade ago and somehow never left. It was clear to anyone that he would leave eventually.

"Please, Danag," Corbin called.

Danag snapped out of his thoughts and started walking away. "I told you, give it to Erick."

"It’s a letter from Lord Seraphino."

Danag stopped in his tracks so fast he almost lost his balance. "What did you just say?" he asked as he spun to face the young lord.

"I said it’s a letter from Seraphino."

"Impossible!" Danag stated. Erick usually went through all the letters that arrived and left the castle. If there was something like Seraphino sending letters to Corbin or anyone in the castle, for that matter, the letter would have reached the Primus before the recipient even knew about its existence. It was practically impossible for such a letter to bypass Erick.

"It’s not," Corbin replied, taking a step back. Fear oozed out of him.

"Explain how you got a letter from Lord Seraphino."

"My father. My father sent it, but please don’t get the wrong idea. We have no plans to go with his request. T-that’s why I need your help. My father and I both. We have found ourselves in quite the sticky situation."

Danag frowned. It would certainly explain how Erick didn’t see it. If it had just seemed like the regular letters Lord Phelan sent to his son, there would be no need to check it. "You better start speaking."

"Not here," Corbin said, looking around the dark pathway. No one had come around, but he knew that would not remain so, and the chance that someone might be eavesdropping now wasn’t completely zero.

Danag narrowed his eyes at him. Corbin clearly wanted a favor or at least fewer repercussions for this, which was why he came to him first. Regardless of the situation, he would have to report to the Primus, but first things first, he had to find out what this was about.

"Walk with me," Danag replied and turned around.

The young lord simply nodded and rushed after him. Danag didn’t stop walking until he got to the door of his room. He was guaranteed some privacy here, and more importantly, Erick might be inside. He didn’t think it was right for him to see this alone right now. He should be taking it to the Primus, and he would as soon as he figured out what was going on.

Danag opened the door and was immediately greeted with a glare from Erick, who, before the door opened, had his gaze glued to the table where he was busy with work. "What do you thi— Who is that?"

Corbin looked from Danag to Erick and shuffled on his feet, squeezing the papers in his hands.

"Good thing you’re here," Danag said and stepped into the room. "Get in here."

Corbin was hesitant at first, but it didn’t take him long to resign to his fate. As soon as he stepped into the room, the door closed behind him.

"Just what is going on?" Erick asked as he stood up from his seat.

"Corbin here says he got a letter from Seraphino," Danag roughly explained.

"Impossible!" Erick repeated his words with the same gusto Danag did. "And if that is the truth, why are you here? Shouldn’t you be informing the Primus?"

"I think Corbin has more to say..."

"To the Primus!" Erick cut in. "You know what it would mean to have relationships with a man like that. You should be prepared to face the consequences."

"I know, but at the same time, I was hoping you could appeal my case."

"We are his personal guards, not his advisers. Besides, I have no sympathy for people who would deal with someone like Seraphino. You know how he feels about our Primus and his mate."

"Can we at least hear him out? I am sure this is important. We will let the Primus know, but we can’t exactly do that without knowing the full story now, can we?" Danag asked.

Erick sighed and sat back in his seat. He looked toward the window, which was on the left of where the desk was situated, he watched the curtains flutter in the wind. The night was a little warm, but not that this mattered to a vampire.

He slowly turned his head back to Danag, who was still standing toward the door. There was nothing but space between them. The bed was on the left side, neatly made, and not a wrinkle to be seen. The bed took most of the space in the room, it wasn’t a small room; it was a big bed.

"Do as you want," Erick replied before turning his attention back to his desk.
