Chapter 651. Get Jael

Chapter 651: 651. Get Jael

Mauve was sleeping by the time Jael took her out of the tub. He dried her off and then placed her on the bed before attending to himself and joining her. She felt his naked body against hers and tried to scold him, but she was too sleepy to.

"Don’t worry," he said, kissing the top of her head. "Just get some sleep. I know better than to push you past your limit."

She smiled and partially opened her eyes before closing them again. She was asleep in seconds. Mauve couldn’t clearly remember what she dreamed about as she slept. It felt as though she was running in a field of flowers, she wasn’t alone but for the life of her she couldn’t remember who else was there.

She woke up with a jerk. The first thing she noticed was Mill staring down at her, and the second thing was that she was alone. Jael wasn’t next to her or anywhere in the room. Mauve frowned slightly as she looked around.

"Finally," Mill cried. "I have been trying to get you to wake up for a while now. What happened? Did you have a rough night? You’re usually not this much of a deep sleeper."

"I don’t know," Mauve yawned. She felt a little weird. It was hard to pinpoint what it was, but she concluded that her body hadn’t completely recovered from yesterday’s escapades.

"Are you okay?" Mill asked, peering at her face closely.

"Yeah," she said absentmindedly. She slowly sat upright, and the covers fell forward, revealing her naked frame. Mauve paid it no mind.

"Are you sure?" Mill asked, concerned.

"Yeah," Mauve replied and tried to get out of bed. "I just feel a little weird, hot."

"Are you sick? Do you have a fever?" Mill asked, her brows furrowed in worry.

"I don’t think so," Mauve said as she sat on the edge of the bed. She was naked and didn’t care, but she was in front of Mill, so it didn’t really matter right now as she was trying to understand how she felt.

Mill touched her forehead. "Your temperature seems alright. Would you like me to make your bath water a little less warm?"

Mauve nodded and stood up. Mill pushed the covers from the bed and wrapped them around her. "Do you want me to call for the Primus?" Mill asked, still sounding very worried.

"No, I am okay." Mauve forced a smile as she held onto the covers. "Where did Jael go?" she asked.

"Lord Kieran is leaving the castle, and the Primus stepped out early to see him off."

"Oh," she said, hugging the covers tighter. "He could have woken me up." She yawned.

"I couldn’t even get you to wake up. Are you sure you don’t want to sleep some more?" Mill asked.

"No," Mauve replied and walked to the connecting door. "Is my bath water there yet?" she asked as she walked into her room.

Mill shook her head. "But the servants should be here any minute with it."

"Okay," Mauve replied and walked to the bed to sit down.

"If you don’t mind waiting, I will go speed them up."

"No problem," Mauve said with another yawn. "I will sit right here wrapped in these sheets."

Mill nodded and gave her a stern look as if she didn’t believe Mauve’s words, but she didn’t say anything else before skittering to the door. Mauve heard it open and shut.

Mauve adjusted on the bed and folded. She shut her eyes, trying to assess and understand how she felt. It felt like her lower half had a heart of its own, sending a thrumming sensation up the rest of her body. It was easy to ignore, but it made her feel weird and hot. She wanted to undo the covers, but Mill would be here soon, and she could wait until then.

Mauve managed to push herself to a sitting position when she heard the doors open. Still wrapped in the sheets, which she held as if her life depended on it, she watched Mill and the servants place the bathtub and bath water in the corner.

The servants walked out of the room without looking in her direction. Mauve watched them, not because she cared, but because she wanted to get into the tub as soon as they were out of the room. No sooner did the door shut than she dropped the covers and fled to the bath.

She sank into the slightly warm water and let out a sigh of relief. It made her feel better, and she instantly concluded she was just sore from yesterday.

"Is something wrong?" Mill asked, eyeing her suspiciously.

"I am okay."

Mill nodded and helped her wash up. The bath was fast, and she was out of the water again. It didn’t take long for her to feel a tad bit uncomfortable again, and she knew she wasn’t overreacting.

She squirmed on the seat as Mill dried her hair, barely able to keep still. Mill didn’t ask her any questions, and she was grateful as she didn’t have the answers. Mill dressed her in her underwear, and to ignore how she was feeling, Mauve tried to strike up a conversation.

"How much longer before the first meal, and do you know when Jael is coming back?" she asked.

"A few more minutes tops. The Primus should be here soon."

"He is running a little late," Mauve replied with a stiff grin. She twirled her hair to distract herself.

"I am sure he will make it back here in time. What do you think about this dress?" Mill asked as she stood in front of the wardrobe.

Mauve stood up, wanting to walk closer to Mill, hoping it would distract her from what she was feeling. "Let me see." She had barely taken two steps forward when she fell to the floor.

"Mauve," Mill cried. "I knew something was wrong."

"Get Jael," she blurted out, holding her abdomen as she folded on the floor.
