Chapter 545. Dancing
Chapter 545: 545. Dancing
Jael was only a few steps away from Mauve when Lord Garth walked up to him with his mate in hand. Lady Arora clung to her mate as though she had no strength to hold herself up.
Jael watched this with keen eyes, wondering if he would feel even stronger for Mauve if he were to mark her and vice versa.
He wiped the thought from his head, it must be all the stress of having to deal with the Lords that was getting to him.
"Sire," Lord Garth said with a bright smile. "A wonderful party, I must say."
Jael nodded at him, "I am glad you like it. Should there be anything you wish for be sure to let the servants know."
"There couldn’t possibly be anything more that I haven’t gotten," Lord Garth said with glee.
Jael knew he wasn’t just trying to make conversations. By the look in the Lord’s eyes, he could tell Lord Garth was having a swell time.
"Sire," Lady Arora said with a small smile.
Jael frowned slightly from the tone of her voice he could tell she was about to say something he wouldn’t like to hear. Thankfully, she was cut short by Lord Levaton joining the group.
He approached them with a cup in his hand and a nice jog to his walk. Jael could tell he was in a good mood.
"Your Grace," the old vampire’s voice boomed. "How nice of you to step down and join us."
Jael’s eyes narrowed, he could tell the Lord was being both sarcastic and serious at the same time.
"What are you talking about Lord Levaton? Even up there I was a part of the party," Jael insisted.
"I know. Forgive my words, I seemed to have phrased them wrongly. It is absolutely delightful to see you with us."
"I am glad you feel that way," Jael replied. "I guess it is best to assume you’re having a swell time at the party."
"Is it that obvious?" He asked with a hearty laugh.
"Yes," Jael returned. "Which is a good thing."
"Thank you for organizing this, Sire." Lord Levaton said and turning to Lord Garth and his mate, he gave them a small nod.
"Well, it wouldn’t have been much of the party without its attendees." Jael tried to force a smile but his face felt stiff
"Sire, as I was saying," Lady Arora suddenly said. She didn’t look to appreciate the interruption.
"What is it, Lady Arora? I hope it is not an issue that requires my immediate attention." He was hoping it didn’t require any of his attention.
Lady smiled sheepishly, "It is."
"Well then, I shall do my best to attend to it. Pray, tell me what it is?"
Jael almost bit his tongue as he tried to appear interested but he figured as long as it wasn’t something ridiculous he should be able to either give out a proper answer or fulfill her request.
"You would?" She clapped her hands together, freeing herself from her mate’s grasp.
"You have my word," Jael replied.
"Well," she whispered and tucked a little of her hair behind her ears. "If it isn’t too much to ask, I was wondering if you would dance with my daughter."
Jael nearly choked at her request but the person who even had more of a reaction was Lord Levaton.
"My Love, you can’t do that," her mate scolded.
"I was just wondering if he could," she replied and twisted her fingers. "I didn’t mean any harm. Sabrina is a sweet girl and..."
"I will," Jael said.
"Really?" She brought her arms down and looked up at him with wide bright eyes.
"Yes," he replied.
"You don’t have to indulge her, Your Grace," Lord Garth said but there was no sincerity in his words.
Jael held back his laugh, even the father wanted him to dance with his daughter. They didn’t have to put up such an act.
Besides, maybe it was high time he gave the Lords what they wanted, something to gossip about. It will definitely take off the glare on his back.
"No, it’s fine. It will be my pleasure to dance with your daughter." At this point, Jael was sure his tongue would die and fall out of his mouth. "If you will excuse me, I shall go find your daughter as she owes me a dance."
Lady Arora’s reaction almost made his decision worth it. She jumped on her feet and glanced at her husband, grabbing his arm and slightly shaking it. Jael didn’t miss that Lord Garth could hardly hold back his smile. Lord Levaton on the other hand was hardly impressed as his lip formed a thin line.
Jael walked past them and further into the crowd. Spotting Sabrina wasn’t hard, he was tall and her blond hair was very obvious.
She sat next to her sister, half turned with her back to him speaking, she seemed oblivious to the fact that she was walking towards him.
Her sister on the other hand looked like she was about to fall from her seat. Sabrina turned around to see what the issue was and her eyes fell on him. He could see the surprise in them but nothing more.
"May I have this dance?" He asked with a palm stretched out.
Her eyes widened and she looked from his palm to his face. "Of course," she said with a huge smile as she accepted his hand.
He lifted her and was disappointed. She felt nothing like Mauve and he wanted nothing more than to turn around and walk away.
However, it wasn’t like he would have to dance with her for a long time. A few minutes should be more than enough, they didn’t have to dance to the whole song.
He carefully led her to the middle of the floor listening to the whispers and the gasps in the air. He couldn’t help but notice the proud look on Sabrina’s face.
Maybe this was a bad idea but there was no way he could back out of this situation without making it worse.
