The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 541. Shameless
Chapter 541: 541. Shameless
"Are you embarrassed?" He asked with a smirk.
"Are you doing this on purpose?" She had to remind herself not to raise her voice. Vampire hearing was already good enough.
"Maybe," he replied.
Mauve fought back the urge to smack him. That wouldn’t do anything.
She was seated on one of his legs while he leaned back against his seat with his legs apart. Her dress covered most of their lower part.
Mauve tried to stand up but he stood her, holding onto her waist in a deadlock.
"You don’t really mean for me to sit here, right?"
She asked.
"What’s the problem?"
"This!" She exclaimed in frustration.
"What do we have here?" A familiar voice asked.
Mauve realized she didn’t notice him until he spoke. "Louis!" She squealed, turning around to look at him.
He climbed up to where she sat on Jael’s legs with a cup in his hands. It was hard to see the contents as it was a metal cup.
"I am happy to see you too," he replied with a frown. "What’s going on here? I guess I won’t be the only one to suffer at the hands of your... Nevermind."
"What are you talking about?" Jael asked.
Help me, Mauve mouthed.
Louis chuckled. "This is one of those times when you’re on your own. Would you like something to drink?" He asked her instead. "I can definitely help you with that."
"I’d like my seat please," she whispered.
She doubted she wanted to start the night off with drinking. Her last experience wasn’t so great as the chance that there might be a repeat of that was pretty clear.
"I am sure this is comfortable enough," Jael whispered.
"What he said."
"You’re on Jael’s side?" She asked in horror.
"He is my Primus. Of course, I am on his side." Louis looked at her as though he couldn’t believe she was asking that.
"Am I stuck here?"
"I am afraid so, look on the bright side. You’re practically untouchable here."
She squinted her eyes at him. "Surely I can’t sit like this in front of everyone?" She cried.
"I don’t see what the problem is," he replied, twirling the drink on his cup. "I am sure they’ve seen worse."
Mauve winced at the red she could see at the rim of the cup. She hoped it was red wine.
"How do you find the party so far? Delightful, I am sure." He answered the question before she could even get a chance to open her lips.
"It’s not bad," she replied truthfully and looked around.
The Lords were going about with drinks in hand. They looked to be having a swell time. Some were seated while the others remained.
It didn’t look any different from the regular balls her father held but it was hard to say for sure. She only just got here.
Maybe she would see how different it was in a few minutes or hours. She wondered how long the party would be.
She knew she wouldn’t be able to stay to the end of it if it went the entire night.
"Just not bad?" He asked.
"I just got here," she responded.
"Any complaints?" He asked.
Mauve shook her head, "None so far," she replied.
He smiled at her and asked again. "Would you like anything to drink?"
Mauve started to shake her head but stopped. "As long as it’s not ale or fermented wine," she replied.
"You’re no fun," he whispered.
Jael must have looked at Louis a certain way because he raised his free hand and said. "I am joking, just joking."
"I will ask a servant to bring juice your way," he said.
Mauve didn’t miss the tone he used but she knew better than to try it. The last time she had some vampire alcohol, she did the unthinkable.
"Thank you," she replied.
He nodded and started to walk away, leaving them alone. Mauve noticed that no one approached them but the stares didn’t reduce it only got worse.
She was almost wishing she stayed back in her room but even though she wasn’t having a swell time, she would be lying if she said it was better than sitting in the dark room all by herself.
Mill wouldn’t have been able to keep her company as the vampire would be here at the party. Mill spun her head, trying to see if she could pick Mill from the crowd but there was no luck of that.
One person that she could point from a mile away was Jevera. Her red hair bounced as she stood next to her father. He was discussing something with another Lord and Mauve saw them laugh.
She leaned forward lost in her stare. Suddenly, Jevera turned her head in her direction and Mauve felt cold. She looked away immediately wondering how the vampire had noticed even though there were a lot of people between them.
As she turned away she noticed someone approaching them. It was Lady Sabrina, her long blond hair poured over her shoulders.
She stopped in front of them and bowed her head. "Sire," she called and waited.
"You may step forward," Jael responded.
"Thank you," she responded.
Mauve jumped from Jael’s legs knowing the vampire was here to see her. He held her wrist but slowly let go of her.
She walked to where Jael stood which was still in his line of sight. However, it was down the podium, and by the glare on her back, Jael wasn’t pleased about it.
"I didn’t think you’d be here," Sabrina smiled. "Enjoying the party?"
"A little but I don’t think a lot of vampires want me to be here," she whispered, voicing her fears before she could even think about it.
"Don’t even worry about them," Sabrina replied. "You’re with the Primus."
Why does everyone keep saying that? She doesn’t exactly enjoy the idea of being hated but she simply nodded.
"Have you seen Mill?" She asked, changing the subject.
Sabrina frowned and looked around. "Not yet but if I do, I will be sure to send her your way."
"Thank you," Mauve said with a huge smile. "I’d really appreciate that."
"My pleasure," Sabrina said with a smile. Leaning forward, she whispered. "I love your dress."
"Oh," Mauve blushed and looked down. "Thank you," she had not expected the compliment. "Your dress looks even nicer."
Sabrina giggled and said, "I better let you go. The Primus has been glaring at me as though he would get out of his chair and drive a knife through my heart any minute now."
Mauve gasped at the horrifying description but she knew Sabrina wasn’t exaggerating.
"Thank you for coming to see me," Mauve said with gratitude in her eyes.
She could not imagine what it meant for Sabrina to approach her among all the vampires. It made her happy.
"What are you talking about!" Sabrina giggled. "I’ll let Mill know you’re looking for her."
Mauve nodded and watched Sabrina before she turned around and walked up to Jael. He narrowed his eyes but didn’t complain. He tapped his legs instead and Mauve sat down with an audible sigh.

Sabrina smiled to herself as she accepted the cup from the servant. She sipped it, pretending she didn’t know someone was walking towards her.
The blood tasted sweet but there was a weird aftertaste. It wasn’t bad enough to take away from the taste but it was pretty bothersome.
"Shameless, aren’t you?" The voice said behind her.
Sabrina pretended to be taken aback as she did a little spin to find where the voice was coming from.
"Jevera," she called out. "What are you talking about?"
"You know exactly what I am talking about. There is no need to act like you don’t know. Still, I expected someone like you to have some class. To think you’d stoop so low."
"Low?" Sabrina asked. "You are the same, aren’t you? You walk up to me and you still don’t have something nice to say."
"Nice," Jevera chuckled. "That’s rich coming from you."
"I am trying to enjoy the party, okay? Who knows when the Primus will throw another one? Perhaps it might be to let us know he has chosen a mate."
She smirked at the end of her words and brought the cup to her lips again, gulping down the rest of the contents.
"Shut up! You don’t know what you’re talking about. He would never do that with a human."
"Who mentioned a human?" Sabrina said with a shrug and signaled a servant to come take her cup.
"Are you trying to get to the Prinus through her?" She asked with a laugh. "I knew you were not right in the head but I didn’t think you were this bad. Come off it, whatever your plan is, it won’t work."
The servant stopped in front of them and Sabrina handed her cup to him. He left almost immediately.
"Then why are you here? If you’re so certain, why did you walk up to me?"
