The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 480. His Embrace

Chapter 480: 480. His Embrace

"My Love," Jael announced as he walked through the connecting door. "I see you’re ready."

Mauve didn’t know who looked more surprised between her and Mill. Mill, however, recovered quickly as she bowed to Jael.

"Sire," she said and took a step back from Mauve who was still seated by the dresser.

"Mill," Jael said. "Good to see you."

"I heard you came back pretty late this morning, I am glad you got here in one piece," she said.

Mauve watched Mill twirl her hands as she spoke to Jael. Mauve couldn’t help but think this was the most Mill had said to Jael without needing to.

"Thank you," he smiled at her. "Are you ready, love?" Jael turned to Mauve.

"I suppose," she whispered.

He closed the gap between them and stretched out his hand to her. "Let’s go."

She nodded and accepted his hand. He pulled her up effortlessly, she staggered a bit and had to cling to him to steady herself.

"Thank you," she said and he started to lead her to the exit.

She glanced back at Mill and saw the vampire giving her a questioning look. Mauve quickly turned away, she knew she would have to answer questions later.

She should be just happy, shouldn’t she? But she just felt anxiously happy. She was beside herself with joy but with a sprinkle of anxiety. It didn’t make any sense.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

She nodded, "I am. I am just a little worried. I don’t know, it must be the whole situation or something."

Jael stopped walking, just before they got to the staircase. "Want to talk about?" He asked.

"Not right now," she whispered, looking away from him. His intense gaze made her feel even more terrible.

"Okay," he said and grabbed her arm. "Just don’t let it get to you so much. You know I’ll do everything in my power to make your worries go away."

Mauve chuckled and wiped her eyes, "I know," she grinned.

"Well then, let’s go get you all filled up so I can eat too."

"Jael," she cried. "When you say it like that, it sounds weird."

He didn’t respond but just squeezed her palm tightly as she realized he never let go of her hand after picking her up from the chair.

It just kept getting better and better, surely it was too good to be true. It couldn’t be that she could be happy for this long without anything interrupting it.

Jael told her he loved her and he proudly announced it in front of Mill and a huge part of her feared he was loudly going to announce it in the hall too.

She took a deep breath and walked into the dining hall, clinging on to Jael tighter than usual.

The air was tense and Mauve winced as she got a whiff of reality. Just because Jael and her were on happy terms didn’t mean it was the same everywhere.

The attack was still very fresh. It was written on all the vampires’ faces. All of them had a sullen look as they rose from their seats to welcome Jael.

Jael helped her to her seat before he got to his. He was barely seated when Otis opened his mouth to speak.

"Sire, what happened? It’s been nothing but rumors. Surely, we should have heard proper information by now. You were back before sunrise, yet the situation on Francine’s estate is unknown."

"Shit up!" Louis said without hesitation. "Unlike the sire, all you’ve had to do is run your mouth. Have some courtesy."

Mauve’s eyes widened and she looked up at Louis. It was rare to see him directly show his anger, he must be really pissed.

"I apologize," Otis said and bowed to Jael before taking his seat. "I guess my worry hastened my impatience. I apologize for being rude and inconsiderate."

Jael didn’t respond, instead, he turned to Mauve and said, "Is there anything in particular you’d like to eat?" He asked.

Mauve jerked as she turned to look at him, shocked that he was talking to her. She was so engrossed in the drama, she didn’t think that he’d speak to her.

"Ahh, no," she forced herself to reply. "I am fine with whatever’s available. I am sure it will be delicious. Mister Herbert truly never disappoints."

Mauve wished she could shrink. She could feel the glare. Otis had never paid her any attention before but he was practically burrowing a hole in her head.

She couldn’t blame him, not only did Jael ignore his question, Jael was practically beaming at her.

She quickly bent her head, hoping the first meal would end faster. Thankfully, it did without any more incidents.

"Shall we?" Jael asked at the end of the meal.

"Surely Sire, you don’t intend to leave without giving us an explanation." Otis looked angry as he spoke, he stood on his feet as if ready to face off Jael if he had to.

Jael didn’t even bother looking at him. He just kept his gaze on Mauve. "Damon, Danag, and Erick should be back before the second meal. We will speak about this then. And one more thing—" he paused and looked at Otis.

"Learn not to speak out of turn. You’re lucky I am in such a good mood. I won’t be so generous next time."

Mauve felt cold and she could see the brief fear that crossed Otis’ eyes. Mauve could blame him, she would have a worse reaction if Jael spoke to her in that manner.

"Yes, Sire," Otis replied with a bent head.

He turned to Mauve and smiled slightly at her before leading her away from the dining hall.

She peeked at him and no sign showed any of the expressions she had seen when he spoke to Otis.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing," she smiled at him.

It reminded her of the first time she met him. She had been so terrified it was a wonder she didn’t pee her wedding dress. Look how far they’ve come. She giggled and leaned closer to him.

"I am glad you’re in a good mood," he whispered.

"Yeah," she said and her expression fell.

Did she have a right to be so happy now that things were falling apart for others? Maybe she didn’t but I didn’t mean she could enjoy this. It would be a waste, wouldn’t it?

Jael led her to his room, his fangs were already engorged before they got to the door. Just how hungry was he and why did he have to wait so long?

"Should I take off my dress?" She asked.

He raised a brow as they stood behind the closed door. "I am glad that you have the same thought as I do."

"What? No, I don’t. I figured it would be easy to access my neck this way."

"If it’s any consolation I’ll tell you now that you don’t need to take your dress off for me to access anything."

Mauve blushed, "Be serious. I know you’re starving. Your fangs are already so obvious."

As she spoke she pulled on the shoulder of her dress to expose her neck enough for him to access and to avoid getting blood stains on the dress.

"Are they?" Jael asked with glowing eyes as licked his lips.

"It’s funny how you don’t fear my hunger," he said.

"What’s there to be scared of?" She grinned at him, closing the gap.

"Aren’t you worried that I’ll drink too much blood?" He asked.

"Wouldn’t that be a small price to pay to please you?"

Jael blinked and covered his face. "Sometimes, I don’t think you’re aware of the words that come out of your mouth."

Mauve blushed and looked away from him. "I meant it," she pouted.

"I know," he said and picked her up. "That’s what makes it so concerning."

He walked to bed with her and sat down. She straddled him easily, her dress gathering around his waist.

"I wish I could penetrate you with more than my fangs."

It was Mauve’s turn to cover her face now. "Why do you easily say vulgar things?"

"Because you like to hear them," he said.

"That’s a lie," she replied.

"If you say so," he grinned and kissed her on the neck.

Mauve relaxed immediately giving him access to her neck. She gathered her hair to one side, so as not to interfere with his feeding.

"I truly won’t be satisfied with just this but I’m so starved for blood I don’t want to put you through more strain than you need to go through."

Mauve opened her mouth to tell Jael that he didn’t need to be so worried about her but she didn’t get the words out as Jael chose that moment to sink his fangs in.

Mauve gasped and the familiar pain but what was even more distracting was how lovingly he held her. She sank into his embrace as he drank her blood.
