The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 463. Kiss Me
Chapter 463: 463. Kiss Me
Jael was watching her very closely as she approached the front doors. She glanced back to look at him and he just stood at the bottom of the stairway, staring hard.
He had wanted to go out the doors with her but she had insisted he didn’t as this wasn’t going to be a quick trip and from what she had heard, Jael was more susceptible to the sun than other vampires.
She didn’t want to put him at any risk especially when she was sure she would be fine. Worst case scenario she runs for her life.
The night had passed faster than she had expected it to and now it was sunrise already. As soon as she saw what she needed to see, she would be back in the house and fast asleep in no time.
She suppressed a yawn as she stood in front of the doors waiting for the guards to open it. She swallowed, feeling antsy for some reason.
She was just going outside, it shouldn’t be that much of a big deal but then she realized she had never stepped out those doors by herself.
It felt exhilarating and scary at the same time but it also spoke volumes about how far they’ve come. She was proud.
She glanced back at Jael and he had a mean look on his face. She was grateful he was holding himself back and his expression showed just how hard it was.
She chuckled to herself and turned away from him to face the now-open doors. She winced at the sunlight, the rays just stopping behind her, they weren’t anywhere close enough to reach Jael.
The guards at the door were at a higher risk of getting sunburnt but it was obvious they had perfected the skill of opening the doors without getting any sunlight with the way they shielded themselves with the huge doors.
"Ten minutes!" She heard Jael yell out as she started working. "You get only ten minutes."
She smiled to herself but didn’t look back, there was no way ten minutes would be enough but she didn’t say this.
She didn’t want to give Jael more reasons to not let her out the door. She could already tell by the sound of his voice that he was regretting this.
She giggled to herself as she walked down the stairs. She stepped on the gravel and shuffled her feet, enjoying the sound of the pebbles under her shoes.
Mauve looked up from the ground and the first thing she saw was overgrown grasses and bushes. The path leading out of the castle was the only thing that looked well-maintained.
She tried to look down the path and she could tell she most likely wouldn’t see the end unless she walked forward and she wasn’t too keen about that.
To be honest, all she wanted to inspect was the surroundings closest to the castle. She knew she wouldn’t have to do too much about the rest of the area.
The trees on the sides of the path were pretty tall. It made her think of a forest. She knew she wouldn’t want to change the trees however, she would definitely have to find a way to make it seem homely, not a freaking forest.
She took a step forward and that was when she realized that the door wasn’t closed. She wondered if Jael could see her from where he stood. She didn’t look back, just started walking toward the side of the castle.
Going around took a while and she didn’t return until almost an hour later. She braced herself as she turned around the corner and the stairs appeared in her view.
She was sure she was going to get an earful and she prepared mentally for it. She knew she had gone a bit overboard but who knew when she would get an opportunity like this again?
She had gone around to her heart’s content and if she wasn’t so tired of being on her feet for so long, she would have kept walking.
She knew the compound was big but she had underestimated just how big. It was huge, especially the back of the castle. It was big enough to be the size of a small city.
The sun felt warm against her skin but maybe it was because she was spending all her time in the dark, she found that she couldn’t wait to get out of it.
The doors were still wide open and she went up the stairs as fast as she could. As soon as she went through the doors, it was shut close and Mauve felt arms tighten around her.
She could barely see him move. The sun was still affecting her eyesight and it was taking a while for her vision to adjust.
"I hate the sun," she heard him whisper. "It is the one thing I couldn’t conquer even if I tried. You took too long, I was worried."
"I am sorry, I may have gotten a little carried away," she replied. "Did you wait for me?"
"Did you really think I was going to leave?" He asked and pulled away from her but only to create enough space so he could lift her. Mauve squealed as her legs lifted in the air.
"I did tell you ten minutes, didn’t I?" He asked.
"You did but surely you knew ten minutes was not nearly enough."
"I don’t care. Prepare yourself for the repercussions of going against my orders." His expression was stern but Mauve could clearly see the start of a smile at the corner of his lips.
As he spoke, he headed for the stairs, leading her up. He walked briskly, impatience oozed out of him.
He got to the front of his room in no time and pushed the door open. He walked into the dimly lit room and carefully placed her on the bed.
Mauve looked up at him heaving a bit even though Jael was the one who did all the work. She knew what was coming and she couldn’t pretend she wasn’t excited.
"Kiss me," Jael commanded as he hovered above her.
