Chapter 433. Red Looks Good On You
Chapter 433: 433. Red Looks Good On You
The meal went off without a hitch, Mostly. Except for the part where Jael seemed to have a scowl on his face occasionally.
There was drinking and a lot of conversations going on. The vampires didn’t seem to mind that she was part of this.
Well, that was mostly because she kept her mouth shut so it was easy to ignore her. It wasn’t hard to do as she was already used to not being part of the group conversation.
Sometimes she listened in, sometimes she listened to her thoughts. She also noticed the conversations were nothing too serious, nothing that could give her a clue about what was happening or what had happened while she was away.
She didn’t think it was a problem, now that she was back she was sure she would be updated soon enough.
Mauve finished her meal but it didn’t seem like the party was near its end as a servant brought another barrel of ale.
Vampires sure could drink. The worst part was none of them seemed drunk. She could tell they would finish the fourth barrel without any issues except bladder control.
Jael lightly touched her fingers drawing her attention to him. She blinked as her gaze fell on him.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"I am just a little tired." She smiled at him.
Her exhaustion was starting to pile on her, not to mention she had been up since early evening. She wasn’t sleepy yet but she would prefer to be on the bed.
"Shall we retire then?" He asked.
"Don’t you think it’s a little too early for you to leave the party?" Louis chimed in. "I can see her off to her room easily. You don’t have to leave the table."
Jael turned to Louis, his gaze darkened as he glared at Louis. "Absolutely not! Remember the party is being held in Danag’s and your honor. You couldn’t possibly leave a party just for you."
He stood to his feet as soon as the words were out of his lips. Mauve understood immediately that it was the cue to leave.
She rose to her feet and Jael pulled the seat out from under her to give her enough room to make her way out.
He didn’t bother returning the seat, just grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the exit. Mauve grabbed the hem on her dress, worried she might step on it in a hurry.
"Jael, slow down," she cried as they got to the bottom of the stairs.
At this rate, she was going to fall on her face trying to keep up with him. There was no need to be in such a hurry, their rooms were literally just at the top of the stairs.
He stopped suddenly at her words and she bumped into his back. Hitting her head a little too hard. She rubbed the spot. This has happened more times than she would like it to.
"Jael," she called as she rubbed her hair. "Don’t just stop walking."
He slowly turned around his blue eyes reaching her. She has been behind him the whole time, which is why she didn’t realize.
"Are you sure? Because unlike you, I don’t mind an audience."
She held in her gasp but her mouth fell open and her eyes widened. He walked closer to her.
"Do you have any idea how hard it was to just sit there while they ogled you? Do you have any idea?"
Mauve blinked, she was sure they both understood the situation differently. The vampires were certainly not looking at her in that manner.
She shook her head, not sure how to respond. He walked even closer to her.
"I want to keep it together," he said as he closed the gap between them pulling her closer to himself. "But it’s hard to do that when you look like this?"
Mauve frowned. He said he was fine with the dress. Why was he acting up now? Besides, aside from her shoulders, the rest of her was pretty covered.
He didn’t give her a chance to reply as he lifted her off her feet and rushed up the stairs.
She didn’t protest, not when he had looked at her with that sort of expression on his face.
He went past her room in a second, he got to his room in no time and pushed the door open. He got into the room and closed the door behind him.
Without missing a beat, he dropped her to the floor and pinned her to the closed door. His eyes scanned her face, his glowing eyes were all she could see. "Red looks good on you," he whispered.
She followed his gaze, the blue light flickering from them led the way. It moved from her face and went down the rest of her body.
Mauve tried to stay still but the intensity of his stare was almost as if he could touch her with his eyes.
"Thank you," she said to his compliment, averting her eyes. It didn’t help her situation; she could still feel his eyes on her.
"It was hard to sit still," he said. "I wanted the last meal to be over before it even started."
One of his hands was against the door as he trapped her. His other hand touched her face and slowly started to head downwards.
"You wouldn’t stop humoring Louis. I told you to stay away from him," his fingers traced her exposed neck.
"He was merely teasing. I am sure he didn’t mean any harm," she said as she tried to calm him down.
"You have such faith in him, you’ve only known him for a few days."
"I-I..." She started to say but the rest of her words died on her lips as Jael crushed her lips with his.
Mauve swore as their lips met, his lips quivered against her and she closed the gap between them.
She could feel his urgency and she reciprocated. His hunger for her was pulling away her reservations and all she cared about was getting as close to him as she possibly could.
