The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 427. Familiar and Unfamiliar Sights
Chapter 427: 427. Familiar and Unfamiliar Sights
Mauve’s mouth fell open as they stopped in front of two huge gate towers. She was away for less than two months, which was definitely not enough time to erect such a building.
Vampires were incredibly fast. She knew they were but to erect this structure in such a short time frame was almost a miracle.
"Jael," she said as the front gates were thrown. She looked at him with huge eyes. "Why did you say the castle was no different from when I left? Look at this, it’s huge."
"Is it?" He asked nonchalantly.
"Of course it is!" She said stubbornly. How were they able to build this in such a short time?
Jael shrugged and didn’t say anything more. Mauve turned her head back to the building.
The towers, the two frames supporting the gate, were at least thirty feet tall. It gave good protection before one would get to the castle.
It was the same for her father’s castle but it wasn’t this big or this strong. She could tell the towers and the rest of the fence wouldn’t fall easily.
As the gate opened, Mauve was greeted with a soft clicking sound. As if the gates were protesting being open.
She wished it was daylight so she could see the building better. All she could see was the shape and size.
She couldn’t explicitly say what sort of design was on the gate and the towers there about.
Jael took a step forward, walking slowly. The path that greeted them was made of concrete. Trees laid on each side.
The interior was pretty much the same. Mauve was almost relieved by this. She doubted she could handle too much change.
A lot of the bushes still looked unkempt and not just in need of trimming but weeding.
She could almost imagine how beautiful the castle would surely look if the fields were taken care of. They could not only have a pretty entrance but it could also hold beautiful gardens and maybe an orchard.
Jael sped up suddenly, not giving her time to appreciate the scenery but Mauve knew even if he gave her all the time she wanted it was too dark for her to see it to her heart’s content.
She wondered if Jael would let her roam around the castle in the daytime now that the surroundings were fenced.
She didn’t want to daydream too much so she quickly shoved the thoughts away.
She looked ahead to see the castle getting closer and closer. The knot that was in Mauve’s stomach tightened even more as she braced herself for what she would meet.
Jael didn’t slow down his pace until they got to the front of the castle. He took the familiar stairs that led to the huge front doors just as the doors themselves were thrown open.
Mauve held her breath as Jael walked through the doors. Unlike the first time she came, she wasn’t greeted with darkness.
The guards by the door bowed to Jael. It was a low bow where she could only see the back of their head and this was made easier as she was still held in his arms.
Jael simply nodded and walked through the huge space heading for the nearest stairs.
"Finally, we have arrived." Louis’ voice echoed in the empty space as he walked through the door.
Mauve nodded her acknowledgment even though Jael was taking her further away from the doors. A one-track mind, this one. He didn’t even give her a chance to look around or anything like that.
He got to the top of the stairs and walked past her room. Mauve wanted to protest but she kept her lips sealed and just let him do as he wanted.
He stopped in front of the door to his room and pushed it open. Mauve held her breath at the familiar space.
She didn’t even realize how much she had missed it until she was right in the middle of it. It was a bit dark so she couldn’t tell if anything was different. The darkness didn’t stop Jael as he walked further into the room.
The window was open but only gave in a trickle of light and she knew it might take her eyes a little while to adjust.
Mauve felt him go down and she figured he had sat down on the bed. He didn’t drop her, rather he held her across his legs and peered into her face.
She could swear His blue eyes were twinkling but that wasn’t possible right?
Staring her straight in the eyes, his gaze wandered just slightly before returning to her face.
"Welcome back," he said.
She blushed, her eyes scanning his face. "Thank you, it’s good to be back." She grinned.
As soon as the words left her lips, he bent his head and caught her lips between his.
Mauve groaned and kissed him back, her arms slowly going around his neck. His hand on the other hand quickly found its way to her bosom and he lightly squeezed.
Mauve blushed as she felt herself grow warmer. She missed him and everything that pertained to him.
Suddenly a loud knock resounded in the room. For some reason, the knock sounded louder than normal. Mauve jumped back.
Jael chuckled at her reaction. His eyes gave off a light glow.
"Don’t laugh at me," she pouted, feeling even more embarrassed.
"I am not laughing at you, I promise." He kissed the top of her head and Mauve leaned into the kiss. The familiar feel of his lips against hers was something she would never get tired of.
He pulled away from her and turned his attention to the door. "Come in," he said.
Mauve’s eyes rested on the door and she watched it slowly open. A figure walked into the room with a candlelight.
The first thought that crossed her mind was thankfully she could see now until she realized who was holding the light.
Mauve was out of Jael’s arms before she could even process the thoughts. "Mill," she cried as she rushed to the door.
