The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 381. Jael’s Thoughts

Chapter 381: 381. Jael’s Thoughts

Jael got to the front of the castle. A little slower than he intended, he was out of breath, and the pain in his stomach worsened. Whatever Louis did was getting worse by the minute.

He would need to take blood; this idea wasn’t appealing to him, but his body had gotten more damage than he could ignore.

"Are you okay?" Louis asked as he climbed the stairs leading to the door.

"No," Jael responded without hesitation.

"Too bad," Louis replied with a shrug. "All this could have been avoided if you had just been less stubborn."

"I wouldn’t have any problems if you didn’t meddle..." Jael frowned as the doors were thrown open. Of course, Danag was behind the door. However, he wasn’t alone.

"Sire," Danag called out in horror.

"What the bloody hell?" Erick’s voice echoed in the doorway. "Were you attacked by a wild animal?"

"Yes, unfortunately, the creature came out of nowhere," Jael said and walked past them.

He could only imagine just how terrible he looked. His face looked awful; he was soaking wet, and worst of all, he was seen in this state.

Louis snickered, turning the guards’ attention to himself. It wasn’t until he saw their expressions that he remembered he was also in bad shape. His injuries mainly had healed, but the blood was still all over his face and neck.

"Lord Louis!" Danag replied. "Were you..." Danag let the rest of his words drag out as he tried to figure out why they both had such injuries.

At this point, it was pretty clear what had happened. Besides, the wounds on Jael’s face looked more like punches. If anyone looked like some wild animal had attacked them, it was Louis.

"I’d appreciate a warm bath, Danag. I need to wash this blood off. Some creature ripped out the skin in my neck."

"As you wish," Danag said with a bow. "I assumed you’d want the same, Sire?" Danag asked Jael’s retreating figure with his head still bent.

"Whatever," he replied as he reached the stairs.

"That would be a yes, and bring some blood with that and food too."

"Don’t go making orders for me," Jael replied stubbornly.

"You’re going to bleed out if your wounds don’t heal."

Jael didn’t respond.

Louis turned to Danag, "Attend to the Primus first. He is in a pretty poor shape." Louis smirked, not hiding the fact that this was his fault.

"Did you fight?" Danag asked when Jael was far enough to hear his question.

"It was more like a beating. Felt nice," Louis said and twirled his arm. "Someone needed to punch that arrogant fool in the face."

Danag nodded, "What about your neck? It looks like the wound was terrible."

"It was," Louis responded sadly. "Even a weakened Primus is still a threat. If he weren’t in such poor shape, I probably wouldn’t have landed the first punch."

"Thank you for your help," Danag responded. "I am sure this is harder than you show."

Louis laughed, "It’s merely a scratch, Danag. The blood makes it look more than it actually is."

"But to fight the Primus?" Erick said.

"Don’t look so surprised. It’s not the first time."

"Your nose," Damon said.

Louis lifted his hand and touched it, "Yeah, it’s broken."

"Oh," Erick responded.

"The bone would need a bit longer to heal."

"Yeah, but I should feel better after some blood, some food, and a good day’s sleep."

"Would you say you’re making progress?" Damon asked.

Louis squinted his eyes as he stared at Damon, who revealed nothing in his expression.

Louis shrugged, "It’s hard to tell with Jael. One minute, you think you’re on the same page. The next minute, he turns on you. He acts as he pleases. However, I am sure the damage he has received would be enough for him to take blood, hopefully enough to heal his arm."

"I hope there will not be complications. It has been like that for a month already. That’s too long to be walking around with an injury." Erick commented.

"To think he was still fighting Palers in such a state," Louis shook his head. "I will head to my room now. If the servants see me like this, it would definitely raise panic."

"Yes, of course." They simultaneously say with a bow.

"Let me know if anything comes up," Louis said and started for the stairs.

Damon started to move away as Louis left them. "Where are you going?" Erick asked. "Don’t you think you should hang around the castle in case anything happens?"

Damon glanced at Erick but didn’t respond. Instead, he turned to Danag and said, "You know where to find me if something comes up. I will take care of the squad until you are done here."

Danag nodded and started walking in the opposite direction Damon did. He needed to give orders.

"I find it a little weird that you’re here when it isn’t like you’re getting any work done," Louis said as he pushed open the door to Jael’s study.

Jael winced at Louis’ words. There was a reason he spent less time in his room. Every corner of it was filled with a scent he could get rid of no matter how hard he tried.

"Have you never heard of a knock in your life?" Jael asked, slowly raising his head.

"Oh no," Louis said, rushing closer. "You still look a mess. Have you eaten?"

Jael glared at him and looked down at the table.

"Danag said the tray was empty, so that I will take that as a yes. It’s the blood you haven’t touched."

Louis sighed loudly and threw himself on the chair. "We both know you need more blood than food. Your body is in no state for you to be squeamish. If you let this go on for too long, you might not return to the state you were once in."

"Hmm," Jael responded.

"Oh, for hell’s sake. You agreed you’d let me help, and now you’re being as annoying as ever."

"Shut it already. Stop whining and tell me how you intend to fix the situation."

"Obviously, it’s pretty simple. We will bring Mauve back, but I can’t do that if you don’t say the reason why you sent her off in the first place."

"I didn’t send her off. She chose to leave."

Louis narrowed his eyes, "Honestly, I can’t see the difference, and the fact that you can’t see that is concerning."

"What are you talking about? I never asked her to leave."

"But you might as well have. Seriously, all this troubles for a human. If the Lords hear about this, they would lose their shits."

"Are you helping or not?" Jael asked darkly.

Louis sighed, "Sorry. Yeah, of course. Continue with your illogical explanation."

"Louis!" Jael said sternly.

"I already got the gist from Danag, and from how you sounded, nothing is inaccurate. You did ask her to leave."

"I didn’t. I said if she left, she shouldn’t return. There was no reason why she should go home, not after what they did to her."

Louis touchéd his forehead, "What did you think she was going to do when you gave her that sort of request, you pompous prick?! You think you’re the only one with pride."

"You’re missing the point. She chose him over me. She chose her terrible father over me. I have done everything she wanted. I treated her; I even forgave the fact that she lied to me, had been lying to me, and she chooses him over me."

Louis groaned loudly. "You haven’t changed one bit, you asshole! Try to look at where she’s coming from for one bloody second. I can’t believe I have to explain this to you. How would you feel if someone gave you that sort of ultimatum?"

"I will choose the most important, and she chose her father. She was willing to leave even if it meant never seeing me again."

"You sound like a child who just discovered that the world doesn’t revolve around him. So, you made a mistake, and instead of trying to fix it, your idea is to run yourself to the grave."

"I didn’t make any mistake. She was only here because she had to be, and as soon as she saw the opportunity to leave, she took it without hesitation."

"Oh, shut up! I wasn’t here, and even I can tell Mauve had some affection for you. Though, I still cannot figure out why. However, to say something like that, even to a human, is unfair and mean."

"How?" Jael asked with a frown.

"Oh, come on. First off, she is pretending to be a proper princess, right? Her father asks her to return home for a visit. Why would she refuse to?"

"Because I asked her not to," Jael replied.

"Now, why would you do that?"

"Because her father doesn’t care about her," Jael replied without hesitation.

"Does she know you know this?"
