The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 372. Louis

Chapter 372: 372. Louis

"Well, technically you didn’t get dumped. YOU chased her off and then you started acting out."

"Get out!"

"Ooh, feisty. Just how I like them. I see you’re excited to see me. I missed you too," he smiled walking closer to Jael who was seated by his desk.

Louis was a blond vampire, he was at least six feet tall with long lashes and a scar just over one of his eyebrows. It was a dark patch of skin compared to the rest of his pale skin.

"What are you doing here?" Jael asked darkly.

"Guess what? I’m the intervention that is supposed to turn your life around and pull you out of the shit hole you’ve seemed to have buried yourself in," Louis said smugly.

"You don’t have any right to walk in here. You’re not welcome here," Jael said, there was a tingle in the air as he spoke.

"Our mother would say otherwise," Louis stopped in front of Jael’s desk and stared down at him.

"She wasn’t your mother because if she was, you wouldn’t have missed her burial."

"I didn’t think my presence would make that much difference. Besides, I already lost one set of parents, and the idea that I lost another was too much to bear. There was no way I could have made it to the burial even if you had asked but you wouldn’t have, would you?"

"What do you want? State your business and leave. For the relationship we had, I am willing to listen but I don’t intend to condone your presence here."

Louis slipped into the chair. "You look like shit," he replied, ignoring Jael’s words.

"I said state your business."

"Relax, I am getting to it. At least act like you’re happy to see me."

Jael snickered, "Happy to see you? Is this some kind of joke? I would have been happy thirty years ago, twenty years ago, even ten years ago. Now, you’re a sight for sore eyes."

"Don’t make it sound like that, I know you’re happy to see me," Louis stuck out his tongue.

"This is Danag’s handwork, isn’t it? He is the reason you’re here. That conniving vampire!"

"Maybe," Louis shrugged. "I never thought the day would come, you know."

Jael frowned, "What? What day?"

"The day you’ll fall in love and with a human at that. It’s almost hilarious."

"What nonsense are you spouting? What have Danag been telling you?"

"Oh my, you’re in complete denial. It’s worse than when our parents died."

"Shut up! Never speak of them so casually. They were my parents."

Louis raised his hands, hiding his saddened expression but there was no need for that, it was gone as soon as it appeared.

"As you wish, my liege," he smirked.

"Fuck you!"

"You’re like a wild dog. You really hate when I call you that, don’t you?" Louis laughed. "Your grace, Sire, Ruler of Vampires."

"What do you want?"

"Didn’t you hear me? I am your intervention, you blockhead."

"I don’t need it, get out."

"Then explain why you’re in such terrible shape. You’re pale as hell, by the dark circles under your eyes you have not been getting enough sleep. By the way, you keep wincing and there is almost no light here, you have a blinding headache. Let’s not mention the several bandages which can only mean your wounds are not healing and you dare say you don’t need an intervention. Are you out of your mind? What’s your plan exactly? Run yourself to the grave. It’s been almost forty years and you still act before you think."

"Eat shit! You think you can walk into my space, my castle, and mouth off after walking away like it didn’t mean anything to you over three decades ago. You don’t get to lecture me, not with the stunt you pulled, you self-absolved maniac."

"That’s my line oh, Vampire King."

"Get out!"

"You’re going to have to do more than that to get me out of here."

"I don’t need your help, I have been doing fine these past few years. Why do you think your ’supposed’ help is wanted?"

"I am sorry," Louis said with a loud sigh.

"What?" Jael asked. Louis’ sudden apology drained his anger.

"I said I am sorry," Louis replied leaning forward.

"You don’t get to apologize, not now and certainly not ever, it’s too late for that."

"Well, what do you want me to do? Things got out of hand and now we are here now. Your dramatics are unnecessary. I said, I am sorry."

"That’s not nearly enough. You were away for almost four decades."

"I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry. That’s an apology for each decade I was away and some."

"That’s not how to make amends."

"You’re one to talk. You know if you had ever told me to come home at any point in time I would have but your stupid pride wouldn’t have allowed you."

"I told you not to go."

"You know that was completely out of the question."

"So, did you find it? The thing that was so important you dropped everything you have here to go look for."

"You know maybe I did."

"Sounds like a lie."

"Whatever, this isn’t about me. It’s about you, it’s your intervention."

"Say that word one more time, I beg you and you’ll have a taste of my fury. I still haven’t forgiven you."

"Oh shush you’re so petty. So, why are you trying to kill yourself?"

"That’s an exaggeration. I am hunting Palers like I should have years ago."

"That’s a lie without any effort. Give a better lie."

"I am not trying to kill myself."

"Consciously, maybe but your actions dictate otherwise. When was the last time you drank blood?"

"I don’t know, I can’t seem to taste it."

"Oh, my word! I cannot wait to meet this human."

"You’re never meeting her."

"Want to bet on that?" Louis smirked.

Jael’s eyes darkened and a glow emanated from his eyes.

"Easy vampire. That’s not what I mean. Possessive much? Considering you chased her off, wouldn’t you say you have no right to behave in that manner?"

"I don’t want you anywhere near her."

"Scared she would fall for my charms and realize what an asshole you are."

"She already knows that," Jael said with his head bent.

"Look at you acting all docile."

"What did you just say?"

"Nothing. Why did you chase her off in the first place?" He asked, raising a brow.

"It’s none of your business, Louis. You should leave."
