The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 370. Odd Plan
Chapter 370: 370. Odd Plan
"There is every need for that. If we don’t show some resilience they will ride all over us."
As much as she agreed with him she doubted this was the way to show it. Vampires weren’t the kind they wanted to piss off. They have a lot to show that vampires weren’t the kind to be messed with.
What was she saying? There was nothing to piss off. Jael wouldn’t care if she didn’t return and if he didn’t care she was as good as dead to the rest of the vampires. None of them ever really cared about her, except Mill of course. It was nice to think that at least one vampire cared.
"I understand what you’re trying to say Father but I do not think right now is the time to take such risks. The vampires are dangerous and we do not want to get on their bad side. I don’t think we have the resources to deal with them."
She needed to plead her case, it wouldn’t make any sense if she easily agreed to what he just said. He would suspect that something was up and that was very far from what she wanted right now.
To think that her father would accept her into his castle with open arms. At least something was going somewhat right for once. She was under no obligation to correct his misunderstanding of the situation.
"Let me worry about that, Mauve. As your father, let that be my concern. I have made you carry too much of the burden, let me bear some."
"As you wish, father. Thank you."
Mauve cringed at her response, the perfect daughter. One who did exactly as she was told to do, didn’t put up any opposition, and did what she was told without complaints.
"I am glad you agree with me. You will see how this would turn out in the end. You have nothing to worry about. Just leave everything to your father."
Mauve couldn’t see it going any other way. However, at least her father was holding her out, not the blood. This was no evil even if she and Jael weren’t separated right now, she doubted he would have protested.
"Is there anything you need?" He asked.
"I heard there is a war coming."
Now that she knew she wasn’t here because of it. She could freely ask her questions.
Evan’s eyes widened, "Who told you about this?" His forehead furrowed.
"I heard whispers of it."
There was no way she could give Malcolm not that it made any difference, she doubted The King would be pissed at his son.
"I wanted to keep it away from you."
"There is no need for that. So it’s true I guess?"
"Unfortunately, the stupid kingdoms think we have some collaboration with the vampires here and want to nip us in the bud before we go after them like we have time to deal with war right now."
"Kingdoms?" Mauve asked, horrified. They didn’t have any armed force to deal with that, she knew that much. They have barely recovered from constant battles with the vampires. To go against three kingdoms in just a little over six months of recovery was suicidal.
"Yes, three of them. Crossing the huge river to attack us. That’s just stupid. I have tried to reason with them but their Kings wouldn’t give me an audience. Unfortunately, I can’t pester them more for fear they would attack faster."
"What are we going to do then?" Mauve asked, worry etched over her face.
Even though she wanted to act like what happened to the kingdom didn’t concern her. She didn’t want anything to befall the people of Greenham. It was still a kingdom she was part of.
"Don’t worry about that. We are going to get help from Greysia. Hopefully, we will be able to put up a front to scare them off. At least enough to see a war is a waste of our time."
Mauve frowned, that didn’t sound like a good enough plan but she didn’t want to ask too many questions.
She was surprised her father wasn’t asking her more questions about the vampires and her stay there. Not that it mattered, she wouldn’t have anything substantial to tell him anyway.
"I have more business to attend to. I shall leave you," he smiled at her as he stood to his feet.
She stood up alongside him, bending her knees and her head, slightly. He turned away from her and Mauve watched all the guards go out with him.
She sat back on the couch, she needed a moment to process all that she just heard. At least she didn’t have to worry about being chased off.
However, aside from the concerns of how long this would last, the other information she had found out bothered her greatly.
Jael suddenly attacking the castle in the middle of the night demanding more blood, her Father’s odd plan of keeping her away from the Vampire regions, and the incoming war.
None of it made sense to her, especially the first and the second one. The last one was a bit devastating. They couldn’t survive a war.
Maybe if things were different she could actually get the vampires to help but that was out of the question and she was glad her father didn’t think of that.
She rose to her feet, there wasn’t much she could do but for now, she could try to improve on herself.
She doubted she had long before this blew up in her face. Before it was discovered that there was no need to keep her from going to the Vampire Regions, the vampires didn’t want her.
She pushed open the door and was greeted by Owen and Sire Galath standing behind the door.
"Sir Galath," she called out, shocked.
"I was just about to knock. I saw the King leave a few moments ago but you didn’t come out of the drawing room."
"I needed a few moments to get myself," she said.
Sir Galath’s forehead furrowed, his handsome face scrunching up. "Is everything alright?"
Mauve forced out a smile, "Just peachy."
