The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 350. The Aristocrat’s Residence

Chapter 350: 350. The Aristocrat’s Residence

Mauve yawned slightly as the sun started to set. She had dozed off a lot of times during the journey that her neck was hurting from being tossed around.

She had tried to stare awake as best as she could but had failed. She was glad she was the only one in the carriage as that would have been embarrassing.

They were in a town, they have been in the town for a couple of minutes now. She could only assume they intended to spend the night here, since they weren’t speeding through it.

The town was more developed than the village they had been in. They had a proper gate and as soon as they had seen Sir Galath, the gates had been thrown open.

The town was buzzing with life and business even though the sun was fast going down, people were still going about their businesses.

She had gotten a few stares but mostly people had minded their businesses. This was probably a common experience, it was no longer a spectacle for them.

She didn’t know what town this was and she didn’t bother asking any questions. She could see Owen from the window, he was riding on his horse.

It was a brown horse and with how fluid he was, she could tell he has been riding for a long time. She never really lost sight of Owen and every time she looked out her window she could always catch glimpses of him.

Sir Galath on the other hand was a bit hard to keep track off. She checked around again wondering if she would see him this time but there was still no sign of him.

"Owen," she called and the young lad immediately moved his horse closer to the carriage.

He bent his head a little as he got closer. "What is the matter, Princess? Is something wrong?" His expression immediately looked concerned.

"Not particularly but I haven’t seen Sir Galath for a while now," she replied. "Where is he?"

"Is there something you want? I could get it for you," he offered.

"No," she said, shaking her head. "I was just curious about his whereabouts.

"Oh alright. He went ahead," he said.

"Ahead? What do you mean?" She asked.

"Yes, the Lord’s house. He went to inform them of your coming. You don’t have to worry about anything. We are going to meet him but he wanted to give them enough time to prepare for you."

Mauve frowned as she processed his words. She wanted to ask more questions but she could tell, it was a bit hard for Owen to ride with the horse that close to the carriage.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t move further away as she would have to yell for him to hear her.

"Oh, okay," she said and slipped her head back into the carriage.

As she rested her head on the back of the carriage she swore. She should have asked how much longer it would take to get there.

She couldn’t feel her rest, her legs and she also wanted to sleep. However, she was worried she might have trouble falling asleep again.

Mauve closed her eyes as she replayed Owen’s words to her. She was going to a Lord’s house. Just what was going on here?

The entourage was already more than she had expected. Owen and Galath weren’t the only ones accompanying her.

Aside from them and the coachman, there were about two others, totaling them to five.

It wasn’t a lot but considering no one other than her maid had accompanied her the last time, and now she was going to spend the night at an Aristocrat’s house. This was a little too much.

The last time she got this type of treatment her father had married her off to the vampire king. She could only imagine what he had in store for her this time.

As much as she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt that he missed her. She knew that wasn’t possible and tried as she might, she couldn’t imagine what this was about.

However, now she was certain it was something important. Her father wasn’t the type to go through all this trouble for nothing. She wondered what he would ask from her this time.

Mauve sighed, it was definitely something she couldn’t give. For some reason she could tell it would have something to do with the vampires and that was a kind she was no longer connected to. She ruined that to come here.

The carriage came to a complete stop and the lack of movement pulled Mauve out of her thoughts. They were here, she could tell. She forced herself to look at the window. Not knowing what to expect.

They were in front of a smaller gate. She could tell immediately that this was the Lord’s residence. The gates weren’t so small but compared to the huge gates they just came through, it was a ton smaller.

The gates were thrown open and Mauve nearly gasped. It wasn’t a huge mansion. Now that she has seen Jael’s castle she doubted anything could top that.

It was huge, it was compact but pretty and in proper shape. The path leading the castle was cleaned. The trees on the sides were planted with equal spacing between them.

The carriage soon got to the front of the building and the doors were thrown open. A young girl ran down the stairs, with her dress in hand.

"Milady," an older woman called. "Please slow down, you will hurt yourself."

Mauve could already see the horror on her face from the tone of her voice. The woman seemed elderly and Mauve could help but be sympathetic as she chased the agile girl down the stairs.

The girl didn’t stop running until she got to the carriage. Standing in front of the carriage with a bright smile she said, "Princess."

The girl looked younger than Mauve was but she was obviously in her teens. She was pretty, with sharp features that drew your attention.

Her face held a bright smile and it was directed at Mauve, she didn’t know what to do with it. "Hello," she said, hoping she was giving her best smile.
