Chapter 273. Jevera’s Unrest
Chapter 273: 273. Jevera’s Unrest
He is not going to pick you, you know." Lady Jevera jeered.
"What makes you so sure? Besides, we both know if you really thought that. You wouldn’t be here right now but you don’t think that, do you.?" Sabrina smirked.
Jevera darted her eyes briefly and Sabrina saw the doubt in them. The Primus sending her away from the castle must have had quite the effect on her.
It was unlike Jevera to throw this sort of tantrum. Sabrina couldn’t blame her, this meant Jevera was completely out of the picture. The Primus had no plan to choose her as his mate.
This worked in Sabrina’s favor, however, it didn’t mean he would pick her. In fact, there was no possible way he would.
He didn’t even look at her, barely replied to her, it was almost like she didn’t exist to him. Even with Jevera out of the castle, the Primus still paid her zero attention.
She had a better chance with a tree than she did with the Primus. No matter how hard she tried, it didn’t change the situation. Even though her relationship with Mauve did seem to bother him, he never approached her about the subject.
Sabrina took a step closer when Jevera didn’t say anything. "I hear you were chased out of the castle," she said with a chuckle. "You poor thing."
"I wasn’t chased out."
"You weren’t?" Sabrina asked with a raise of her brow. "With all the ruckus you just pulled. It’s not like you, you usually have the upper hand but it seems like you don’t anymore"
"Is that what this is about?" Jevera asked with a glare. "About who has the upper hand?" Jevera let out a mocking laugh. "Are you a child?"
"You wish. I did tell you, just because you kept his bed warm didn’t mean you had better chances than I did."
"Ah, so that’s what this is about. I thought you’d be past this by now but I guess not. You sound pretty confident, Sabrina. However, I don’t see how you have the upper hand here, a couple of days in the castle doesn’t count. I spent much longer."
"Tch, don’t be delusional and just because yours didn’t, doesn’t mine won’t."
"I had his attention for quite some time. Want to bet on how long you can keep it?"
Sabrina scoffed, "I won’t play such an insolent game with you."
She could only take a bet like that if she had The Primus’ attention in the first place but she didn’t. However, that was not for Jevera to know.
Jevera raised a brow, "Not so confident again, are you?"
"Are you done here? My water is turning lukewarm." Sabrina asked, showing annoyance.
"No, I am not. I hope you like your competition. She is pretty cute and fragile, isn’t she? I don’t see you beating the human, at least not anytime soon. Enjoy his attention while you have it, I doubt it will last." She mumbled and started for the door.
"We’ll see, I’d advise you not to hold your horses. Besides, I have no problem with Mauve. I don’t think she’s competition, you’re the only one that thinks that."
Jevera turned around so suddenly her hair made a swish sound, her smirk fell and a frown slowly appeared on her face.
"Mauve?" She was taken aback. "Did I hear you correctly? You’re calling the human by her hair."
"Yes, is there a problem with that?" She asked.
"No," she replied and slowly turned around with a puzzled expression on her face.
She walked to the door and then turned around. "Oh, and um thank you for condoning my presence."
"You’re not welcome." She replied to the closed door.
The door opened and her attendants rushed in with their heads bent with every step they took. "Lady Sabrina," they called out.
"We are so sorry, we will change out your water immediately."
"There is no need for that," she replied. "I don’t have time to wait for a change of water. Let’s get this over with."
"Yes, Milady." They bowed and moved following her orders.

Erick jerked as someone grabbed his hand and then he was pulled into the nearest room. "Erick," the figure said.
"Jevera," Erick called out in surprised
"Just what is going on here and why did Sabrina come along with the Primus?"
"For heaven’s sake, Jevera. Don’t just attack me in the hallway." He replied and pulled his hand away from her grasp.
"Attack? Don’t be ridiculous and answer my question."
"Why are you curious?" He asked and looked away from her.
Jevera frowned and took a step back. "You know exactly why? I thought you were on my side."
"I am, you just don’t go out of your way to speak to me."
"Are you telling me or not?"
"I will, I will, okay."
"And I do go out of my way to speak to you. You’re just an annoying ass."
"I heard you aren’t allowed in the palace anymore. Did you do anything? His Grace wouldn’t tell me anything? "Erick said with his gaze still away from her.
"I don’t want to talk about that. Why was Sabrina in the castle without her father?"
Erick sighed, "It’s not what you think. The Primus has no interest in her whatsoever. Her father, Lord Garth, simply asked that she stay extra days in the castle and The Primus accepted."
Jevera frowned, "He did?"
"Yeah?"
"Why?" She peered into his face.
"In return for Lord Garth hosting this meeting and rebuilding the fence."
"What? The fence?"
"Yes, I heard it was the human’s idea."
"And the Primus approved?"
"Yes, he did."
"I see," she paused. "Sabrina called the human by her name," she said staring at Erick intensely.
Erick immediately looked away.
"What’s that about?" She asked when he didn’t say anything.
"Sabrina was friendly towards her and over the period she stayed in the castle, they got pretty cool."
"What? So that’s what she meant by she didn’t consider her to be competition." She jerked her head in his direction again. "Do you know what this is about?"
"No," Erick said and turned away.
Jevera frowned, "You look like you know something."
"I don’t, she just said something about being friendly with the human. I promise that’s all I know."
Jevera eyed him suspiciously. "I see. I’ll let you in on something then. Your brother is here."
Erick’s eyes widened and he looked even paler than normal. "My father?" He asked with an unsteady voice.
"Of course, he is here. All Lords with a significant amount of vampires under their care are here which means so is your father."
"I see, thanks for the warning."
Jevera squinted her eyes at him. "You suspected Edwin would be here too."
Erick nodded, "It’s an important meeting. Of course, Father would want him to be in attendance."
"Yeah, so stop looking so shocked. You’ll be fine."
"It’s rare for you to cheer me on," Erick whispered.
Jevera scoffed, "That’s because you’re a pain." She slowly walked away from him and walked towards the door.
"How’s your Lord Levaton?" He asked as she touched the doorknob.
"You should go see him for yourself. I am sure, he would be glad."
"Yeah, maybe I will do that."
"As you wish," Jevera said and walked out of the door.
Erick rested on the wall for a couple of minutes as he tried to compose himself. After some time has passed he pushed himself from the wall and walked out of the room.
"Where have you been?" Danag yelled as he walked toward him. "I know the Primus gave us permission to go wherever but don’t just disappear without letting me know."
"Yeah, sorry about that," Erick said absentmindedly.
Danag frowned and peered at him. "I have been looking all over for you. What happened?"
"Nothing, I just ran into Jevera." He mumbled.
"That’s not enough to make you look like this."
Erick groaned, "Edwin is here."
"Edwin? I see. Did you see him?"
"No, Jevera told me but he will most likely look for me if he finds out we’ve arrived. Ugh."
"I thought you were more concerned about your father."
"Yeah, but it’s even more unbearable if Edwin is here too. Should I have remained at the castle?"
"It is just for the night, don’t be so dramatic. We will be out of here before daylight. Hold out till then."
"Easy for you to say. You have no idea what being in their presence is like. Ugh."
"It’s just a few hours, it will be over before you know it."
Erick’s body stiffened as he heard footsteps behind him. They were too quiet and he would have missed it if he wasn’t paying attention.
"When I heard you were here, I thought it was a lie. To think you’d attend this." A voice rang out.
"Edwin," Erick said darkly before slowly turning around his head to look at him. "What do you want?"
