The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 265. If You Could Leave
Chapter 265: 265. If You Could Leave
Sabrina closed the door to her room. Today was a fruitful day, she thought to herself and threw herself onto her bed. She didn’t think she would have been able to converse for long with Mauve. However, considering how lonely she had seemed, it came as no surprise.
Sabrina was a little disappointed, she had hoped to get more information than what she already knew but that didn’t happen. No matter how she poked, Mauve did not seem to have anything useful.
Even with this setback, she has established something more important than anything else, a friendship. She could see it in her eyes. There was still a bit of restraint most likely because Mauve was still suspicious of her but there was no denying that Mauve was starting to trust her.
As much as she badly wanted to know what Erick was hiding from her about the princess, she was willing to wait it out to find out. She knew better than anyone that there was no point rushing things. She needed to build a considerable amount of trust between them.
Sabrina jerked as a loud bang echoed in her room, someone was knocking loudly on her door. She frowned and sat upright. She looked at the door but didn’t make any attempt to either approach or unlock the door.
The banging went on for a couple of seconds and then stopped abruptly. Sabrina waited, the suspense was eating at her but she was not curious about who was on the other side and the fact that they were banging like a maniac meant this was not a friendly visit and there was only one person she could think about. Erick. However, she didn’t see him going as far as to knock on her door.
Barely three seconds after the banging stopped, Sabrina heard the handle turn and Mill burst into her room.
Sabrina squinted her eyes and immediately sat upright. "I don’t think I gave the order for you to come in yet?"
Mill shrugged and closed the door behind her. "You weren’t responding and I got concerned."
Sabrina forced out a grin, "I am sure." She said and pushed herself off the bed to a standing position, folding her hands, she asked, "To what do I owe the honor?"
Mill stomped to where she stood, her feet echoing as they hit the ground. She stopped in front of Sabrina, her eyes blazing.
Sabrina gave her a bored look, "I can’t read minds, Mill. If you don’t tell me what this is about it wouldn’t make a difference even if you glare at me to the ends of the earth."
"What is the meaning of that?"
"Meaning of what?" Sabrina asked with a tilt of her brow.
"What are you trying to do here?"
She threw her hands to her sides, "As I have said, Mill, I can’t read minds. You either tell me what you mean or you don’t and if you don’t have anything to say, I would like to have some rest. Now, excuse me." She muttered and took a step toward her bed.
Mill moved and grabbed her arm, stopping her movement. "Don’t play dumb with me. You know exactly what I am talking about. What are you planning, getting close to Mauve like that?"
Sabrina groaned loudly and swiped Mill’s hand away. "Why are you all so suspicious? What’s wrong with having a conversation with her? She clearly looks like she needs it."
"And you’re just so nice, doing the world a huge favor."
"I know right, I shock myself sometimes."
"Cut the bullshit. You’re a vampire, we both know you’re not the type to be friendly towards a human."
"Whoa, I didn’t think the quiet twin had this much energy."
"Don’t mess with me, Sabrina. Mauve is under my care. I don’t want you messing with her."
"Did she make a complaint perhaps or is it jealousy I see, that Mauve is talking to another vampire other than you."
"Don’t be silly," Mill scolded. "Whatever this is, stop it. If you think it will make you look better in front of the Primus, you’re wasting your time."
"Ugh, I get that I have a selfish interest in doing this but so do you. You don’t really care about Mauve, you’re just doing your job."
Mill scoffed, "Don’t lump me with the likes of you. She is important to the Primus, therefore she is important to me. It is absolutely not imperative for me to explain myself to you."
Sabrina arched her head to the side with a look of interest on her face. "Important, you say. You’re the first to admit that. Hmm, wait doesn’t that mean I am doing the right thing?"
"I don’t care whether you think what you’re doing is right or not. I am only here to warn you not to try anything funny. Mauve is under my care and intend to do my duty."
"I hear you, you can do as you like and I will do the same," Sabrina smirked and jumped onto her bed. "Next time don’t barge into my room so casually. Wouldn’t you say it’s rude considering I am a guest here? I am here under the Primus’ permission, I am sure he wouldn’t be pleased if I had complaints about the servants here."
"Be my guest," Mill scoffed and walked toward the door, ignoring the fact that Sabrina just called her a servant. She pulled it open and closed it with a loud bang.
Sabrina rolled on her back and gathered the pillow under her. She didn’t expect to get this much backlash in her endeavor. First, it was Erick, and now, Mill.
Just what was going on here? She knew the human was important but she only had a hypothesis. Maybe, she was right on the mark.
Mill leaned against the door of Sabrina’s room, feeling a little tired. She had hoped to be able to get some information out of Sabrina but she had fallen short.
She groaned loudly, she didn’t want to go report to Jael without having anything useful to tell him. However, she would certainly keep her eyes on Mauve and make sure that whatever Sabrina was planning would be thwarted by her. Sabrina wasn’t the sort of vampire to do this sort of thing without a hidden motive and she had to make sure to find it soon enough.
It was easy to think it was to get on The Primus’s good side but with how nonchalant Sabrina had been when she brought it up, Mill couldn’t help but think something else was in play here.
She wanted to warn Mauve but there was really no reason to raise her suspicion as Mauve had looked genuinely happy to spend some time with the vampire.
Was she that lonely that she would take the company of someone like Sabrina without suspecting anything?
Mill pushed herself off the door, she had to report to the Primus, she hated that she didn’t have anything concrete to tell him but at least now she could tell him there was no need for concern and she would be sure to watch them.

Jael swore as Mauve’s shoulders shook slightly. What was he agitated for? She was simply telling him what they had discussed. Why did he have to react like that?
"You didn’t do anything wrong," he said after a while. "I shouldn’t have raised my voice." He whispered against her neck.
Yes, he was annoyed that she had been away for most of the night but he shouldn’t take it out on her. He was trying to get closer to her, not push her away.
She nodded slightly, her head bobbling up and down at his words. She felt smaller in his arms and he stared at the top of her head as she leaned against him, wondering if he missed anything.
The side of her neck was exposed and Jael felt a stirring in his stomach. He needed to feed. However, that wasn’t important right now and he knew he could hold out longer. Maybe tomorrow night, he already took some today.
"Mauve," he called softly.
"Hmm," she whispered, raising her head to look at him.
"Do you like it here?" He asked.
She nodded, her body shaking to match how hard she was shaking her head.
"If I said you could leave? Would you?" He asked.
Mauve blinked, "What?"
"I said, if I said you could go back home, would you?" He asked again.
"I heard you, why would you ask that?"
Jael didn’t know himself but somehow he needed to know. He was never great at keeping people. He had lost, his best friend, his parents, and worst of all it didn’t feel like he had Mauve.
He could try to keep her here even going as far as to ignore that Evan had manipulated him into taking, however, it didn’t mean she wouldn’t leave if he gave her the chance to.
He opened his mouth to answer and a loud knock rang in the room. It wasn’t too loud but it felt like so in the silence.
