Chapter 208. Bad Shape

Chapter 208: 208. Bad Shape

"Mauve," Jael gently called and she opened her eyes to look at him.

He looked a little dazed and his eyes were half closed as he stared down at her face. She thought he looked less pale. Was it because he drank some of her blood?

She didn’t feel any different though and she could tell he didn’t drink nearly enough. Maybe she was reading too much into it.

"Yeah," she replied groggily, her tongue felt heavy.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

He was lying on his side with his elbow on the bed. His head rested on the palm of his hand as he stared down at her.

"You know exactly how I feel," she replied and turned her head to the other side.

He brushed strands of hair off her face and said," I wouldn’t say I know exactly how you feel but I am sure I can take a guess." He smirks at her.

"Please don’t," she closed her eyes. Her body still felt heavy and she just wanted to go to sleep.

"Let’s get you all cleaned up," he whispered into her ears and kissed the side of her face.

Mauve nodded but did not attempt to move from where she lay. She didn’t care that she was lying upside down. She was sure she would fall asleep this way without a care.

Mauve must have dozed off because she suddenly felt Jael carry her. She groaned and adjusted in his arms thinking he was going to place her in the right way to sleep.

Her eyes flew open as she was sunk into warm water and whatever sleep she felt dissipated. She was wide awake in seconds.

"I didn’t want to wake you," Mauve could hear the amusement in his voice. He did this on purpose.

She scoffed and leaned back against him. She couldn’t complain because the warm water was doing wonders to her tense thighs and had her rear.

She adjusted and groaned, closing her eyes as she savored the feel of the warmth against her skin and it got rid of her fatigue.

"Would you not make such noises?"

Mauve’s eyes flew open as she felt something. She bent the back of her neck to look up at him with horror on her face. "You can’t be serious."

"Relax," he said and kissed the top of her head. "I know I can’t strain your body anymore."

"Then do something about it," she mumbled and he chuckled.

"Do what exactly?"

"I don’t know..." She could feel her face burn up in embarrassment.

"I am afraid I can’t do as you ask. You’re pressed up against me, I can’t help but have certain ideas."

Mauve nodded, there was no way she could continue this subject any longer even though she was curious about what the ideas were. She knew asking was a bad idea.

He traced her injured shoulder with his fingers and Mauve shivered a little. "Are you cold?" He asked.

She shook her head. "No," she said softly.

"Your arm looks almost healed."

Mauve nodded.

"I guess the physician did know what to do." His fingers on her arm shook briefly.

Suddenly, he wrapped his arms around her stomach and pulled her closer to him. Mauve squealed at the sudden movement and he laughed.

"Let’s get you out of here before you catch a cold."

"The water is still warm, I am sure I can stay in for longer." She replied with a huge smile on her face.

"Are you sure you want to do that?" Jael asked as one of his hands moved upward and cupped one of her breasts.

Mauve squealed even louder splashing water out of the tub. "I am ready to get out."

"We can stay in longer," he smirked.

"I would rather not give you ideas." She cried, flailing in his arms as he held her in the water.

"Too late, I already have them."

Jael stood out of the water with Mauve in his hands. "The carpet is very wet," he said as he stepped out of the tub.

Mauve hid her face in his chest. "That’s your fault."

"Really? Did you forget how much you were struggling to get out of my hands?"

He dropped her on her feet and quickly wrapped a towel around her so she could sit on the bed without dripping water onto it.

"That’s because you wouldn’t stop touching me weirdly," she looked away from him as she sat on the bed.

"You mean like this," he said and stretched his hand to her chest.

She smacked his hand, "Jael."

It didn’t stop him however but he just dried her up with a smirk across his face. He dried himself too and the both of them stared at her torn nightdress that lay on the ground.

She looked up at his face with hooded eyes as she glared at him.

"Please, refrain from ruining my dresses. I did like that one."

She didn’t but she wasn’t exactly going to tell him that. It would only encourage the vampire.

"I will get you another one," he said and walked away from her.

He stopped in front of the wardrobe and opened it. He pulled out a shirt and walked back to her.

"If you want to wear something so badly. You can put on my shirt."

"My room is next door, Jael. I can get another nightdress." He raised a brow and she accepted the shirt.

She slid it over her body while he just stood in front of her naked as the day he was born. He was watching her every move while she couldn’t even look at him.

She couldn’t comprehend how he has no problem galavanting with his rear out without a care in the world while she was the one embarrassed on his behalf.

She slipped her hands out the sleeves and stood to her feet. She looked up at her to see his eyes gleaming down at her. She couldn’t comprehend what satisfaction he got from seeing her in his clothes.

She looked to the side, even with a mirror she could easily tell how huge it was on her. Her hands were missing and she was sure she looked ridiculous.

"A perfect fit," he smirked.

Mauve jerked in his direction. "I thought vampires could see in the dark."

He crossed the space between them and stood directly in front of her. He lifted her chin and dipped his head forcing Mauve to stand on her toes as his lips crashed into hers.

He poked against her belly and she blushed. He broke the kiss and looked down at her flushed face. "You should get some sleep."

She nodded and turned her back to him as she made to climb the bed. He got in beside her.

"Jael, aren’t you going to put on any clothes?" She cried as he pulled her against his cold skin.

"It wouldn’t be the first time."

Mauve glared at nowhere in particular. This annoying vampire was a thorn in her back, literally. She sighed and got comfortable, he always did as he liked.

"Jael," she suddenly called after a couple of minutes of silence had passed.

She had thought she would fall asleep but she didn’t and she couldn’t think of a better time to ask him this. The faster, the better.

"Yes," he said and slightly bit her ear and she giggled.

"Why is the fence in such bad shape and the rest of the compound too?" She asked blatantly.

She didn’t want to beat around the bush and if he didn’t want to answer he could always shut her down.

She heard him take a deep breath against the back of her head. Did he just smell her hair? It wasn’t unusual as she had noticed he would try to sniff her every chance he got.

A loud sigh followed his deep breath. "Neglect. After my parents’ death, a lot of things were out of place. The last thing I was worried about was the state of the surrounding area. It just fell to ruin and there are a lot of wild animals around here, they probably have a hand in it."

"I see," Mauve felt a knot in her stomach. He sounded casual about it but she could tell that after his parents’ death was a terrible time for him and most likely everyone else here in the castle.

"Can’t it be fixed?" She suddenly asked.

Jael spun her around and she gasped. He stared hard at her face. "You want me to fix it?"

"Well..." she fiddled with her fingers as she spoke, it was hard to organize her thoughts when he was staring at her like that.

She cleared her throat, "Yes if it can be fixed."

He groaned, "It can be fixed but I don’t really see the point. It’s not like it affects anything and we have been doing perfectly fine without the fence for a while. I really don’t see the point."

"It will be better for me," she blurted out, closing her eyes tightly as she waited for his response.
