Chapter 206. Take My Shoes Off

Chapter 206: 206. Take My Shoes Off

Mauve sat quietly in the tub as Mill grumbled. "Just what were you thinking?" The vampire yelled.

"The flowers needed a little tending," she mumbled.

The plants had started to grow. Mauve was a little sad she wasn’t here to see them sprout out of the ground. However, being able to still see them in their early stages was enough for her.

She knew they had started to germinate before she left and had thought she would be back before they did. However, fate had other plans and she was held back.

The flowers Jael had given her were also in pristine shape. She could tell that someone had properly looked after them while she was away. None had died or withered, she had been extremely worried about that.

"So, let me get this straight. Immediately after the last meal you went to the rooftop, correct?"

"Yes," Mauve said and nodded simultaneously. She already told Mill the details word for word, she didn’t understand why the vampire had to repeat it.

"The flowers looked a little dull and you wanted to brighten them up but you were afraid that if you came back downstairs you won’t be allowed back up."

Mauve nodded, "I was only going to check it, I promise." She pouted. "I just wanted to see what they looked like with the sun rising."

"So, explain to me why you’ve got dirt under your nails and on the dress I intend to set ablaze."

"No, I like that dress."

"Mauve," Mill called out sternly. A little bit of water could have dealt with it. Why did you have to do that much by yourself?"

"I got distracted."

"That’s definitely more than a distraction, Mauve. You were there for over two hours. If I didn’t come to get you, you’d still be there."

"I wasn’t just tending to the flowers. I haven’t been in the sunlight for a while. I didn’t intend to stay out so long, I didn’t even know that much time had passed." She rambled as she fiddled with her nails, trying to clean them.

Mill sighed, "I am not scolding you because you were up there for two hours. I am scolding you because you didn’t tell anyone and you returned in such a mess. There isn’t even that much dirt up there. How did you get so much on you?" Mill sounded exasperated as she scrubbed Mauve’s body.

Mauve ’s eyes darted around as she tried to make herself smaller. "I don’t know," she lied.

She may have wiped her hand on her dress a couple of times and it wasn’t because she was trying to anger Mill. She didn’t realize she had done that until she saw Mill’s expression when she came down from the roof.

"Aside from the mess, just tell me where you are going to be. The last thing I want is the Sire asking and I don’t have anything to tell him."

"I am sorry, Mill. I didn’t mean to worry you." She said as the vampire helped her out of the tub.

However, it wasn’t like she had a lot of places to go but she couldn’t blame Mill. She already spent the entire night on the rooftop, Mill most likely thought there was no need to check there.

"At first, I thought you were in His Grace’s room since you weren’t in yours and I didn’t know if I could intrude. I figured you would call for me if you wanted help getting ready for bed."

Mauve winced a little at the slight pressure as Mill vigorously cleaned her dry. She had completely forgotten about the fact that she was supposed to sleep in Jael’s room.

"It wasn’t until I ran into Mack that he told me he was still roaming around because you were at the rooftop and he couldn’t lock it up until you left."

"I apologize for the inconvenience I must have caused you," Mauve said with a sullen expression.

Mill sighed and led her to the dresser, "It’s fine. His Grace didn’t notice your absence so, I guess it’s no problem if it ends well. Just don’t do it again. I’d really hate to get on his bad side."

"It won’t happen again, Mill."

"It better not," Mill said and walked away from her. She stopped in front of the wardrobe and pulled at a lilac nightdress. "How is this?"

Mauve nodded, she did want a different one but she didn’t want to anger Mill any further. "It’s fine," she mumbled.

Mill squinted her eyes at Mauve. She walked to where Mauve was seated by the dresser and helped Mauve put it on.

"You’re all set," Mill mumbled as she took a step back. "You can leave, I will clear this after you do."

Mauve nodded and stood to her feet. She picked up the lamp and carefully made her way to the connecting door. She looked back at Mill before pulling the door open and walking in.

She closed the door and the light moved fast distributing around the room with where she stood as the brightest. She quickly made her way to the bed where she placed the light on the table.

She gathered her dress and climbed into the huge bed. She didn’t see the need for this amount of space. They barely use half while sleeping.

She slipped under the sheets and looked at the ceiling. She was a little tired but energized at the same time. She smiled to herself, she liked to think she was settling quite nicely, as she should. This was her home now after all.

The door suddenly and Mauve raised her head from the bed to see an apparition walk into the room. Its shoulders were hunched down and its face was deathly pale.

Mauve stifled a scream as the form stiffly approached her. It walked to the side of the bed and fell in beside her. She bounced up a little at the added weight.

"Jael," she cried. "Are you okay?"

"No, I am not." He replied with his head still facing down.

"What happened?"

He replied but the pillow drowned out his words. He laid diagonally on the with his legs hanging out the edge.

"I can’t hear you," she said but he neither moved nor made another sound.

Mauve swore and sat upright, using as much strength as she could muster, she pushed him and managed to get him to roll on his side so he was facing her.

"What happened?" She asked again as she stared at him with a worried expression. She leaned closer to take a proper look at his face.

He groaned and stretched out his arms toward her. "Come here," he said and before she could guess what was about to happen he had her in a bear hug and on his chest.

Mauve tried to free herself but his arms felt like chains. No matter how much she shook they wouldn’t budge. "Jael," she said slowly and tried to look at his face.

"Yes," he groaned out his response. His eyes were tightly closed as his arms had her in a locked grip.

"Let me go," she said.

He groaned again and pulled her closer. He placed a kiss on the top of her head and Mauve blushed. She immediately stopped fighting and let him hold her.

"You smell so nice," he whispered.

"At least take your shoes off," she mumbled into his chest, not knowing how to handle the compliment. Her cheeks felt hot and she could feel it radiate to the rest of her body.

"Take it off for me," he mumbled.

Mauve’s entire body froze and she buried her face further into his chest. "I can’t do that."

"Yes, you can," he groaned, "I am too tired."

He slowly let go of her and she pulled away from him hiding her face. If she looked at him, he would definitely know what she thinking.

She crawled on the bed with her knees and hands and made her way to the end of the bed. His legs stuck out over the edge.

She grabbed his shin for balance and leaned forward. She pulled on his shoes and they fell off easily.

Mauve squinted her eyes, he could have gotten his shoes off without her help. She turned around to scold him when she felt his palm on her rear.

Mauve’s eyes widened as she looked back. She nearly jumped out of her skin. "I thought you said you were tired." She yelled, she could feel her heart racing.

"I am," he replied with a smirk. "But surely, you don’t expect me to keep still while you wave your behind in my face." As he spoke, he squeezed tighter.

"You asked me to take your shoes off."

"Did I now?" He asked.

Yes," she replied. She turned her whole body around so she could glare at him properly, pulling her rear from his grip.

Mauve immediately noticed his fangs were fully grown, she did not need to glance downward to check. She knew he was ready to go.

"Well, if I knew I would get a view like that I would have asked you to take my shoes off every night." He said and sat upright.
