The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 107. The Party

Chapter 107: 107. The Party

Jael was bored out of his mind. He could not believe he had spent the last month preparing for this. This was a waste of good time but yes, it was something he had to do

He was settled on a couch with Danag standing a couple of feet behind him. It wasn’t like he needed the protection, it was just an excuse to make sure Danag was here during the entirety of this.

He watched the vampires moving around drinking, chatting, and more drinking. There was also blood available, since there weren’t any blood slaves, he had to make sure there was an endless amount of blood.

Well, endless was a stretch but there had to be enough, it was the only way he could convince them, there wasn’t any need to kidnap helpless humans and lock them up. That the treaty was beneficial.

He groaned and adjusted in his seat, he would rather be locked up writing letters than be here for another second. His gaze flipped from one angle to the other.

Jael saw her coming from the corner of his eyes and he cursed under his breath. He should have expected this, the fact that he has not been disturbed yet didn’t mean he wouldn’t be.

She bowed as she stood in front of him, her straight blond hair falling forward. "Sire," she said softly.

"Lady Sabrina," he mumbled and raised his eyebrow.

She smiled faintly at him while he hoped she would just state her business and go away. The look on her face was throwing him off, he could tell he was not going to like what this was about.

"The party is nice," she said and looked around.

No, it was not. It was just a bunch of Vampires hanging around drinking and gossiping. They could do this in the comfort of their homes, it didn’t have to be his.

He smiled without his eyes, as he waited for her to explain herself. He hoped she would get straight to the point and leave so he would be alone again. She didn’t.

"Thank you for inviting us," she adjusted her dress as she spoke. Her eyes didn’t stray from his face.

Jael face smile immediately changed to a thin line. "Is something the matter, Lady Sabrina?"

He was not in the mood for small talk. If she had something to say, it would be in his good interest if she said it as quickly as possible.

"Well, I just..."

"There you are!" A loud familiar voice suddenly cut her words shut. "I have been looking all over for you."

He turned to Lady Jevera with her red flowing hair beside them. Her black dress contrasted with the cream-colored dress Lady Sabrina had on.

"Your grace," she said and bowed. "Sorry for the interruption but I am here to steal her away."

The words were barely out of her mouth when she grabbed Lady Sabrina by the arm and pulled her away. Jael squinted at the scene in front of him but he didn’t care for the details.

"Sire!" A drunk voice echoed through the entire space, barely halfway through the party.

Jael frowned, from the sound of it, he could tell this was not good. He adjusted in his seat as he braced himself for what was coming.

"A wonderful party, I must say but this doesn’t say your plans for the vampires, My King. This tells us nothing nor does it say why we have to ally with the humans."

Jael glowered, he couldn’t remember the name of the fellow. He was sure, he was the son of a Lord but he couldn’t remember who. However, he did know that they were one of the vampires who had been against the peace treaty.

"Because it is a party. If I wanted to tell you my plans, I would have called a freaking meeting."

Snickers arose from the crowds and loud whispers could be heard. Jael let it settle before he continued.

"Also, we didn’t ally with the humans, we just promised not to be violent to them in return for that which you have a surplus now." You should be grateful.

However, he didn’t add the last part, only because he didn’t rile up the little Lord.

"When will you call up the meeting then? Palers are not going to be sitting around waiting for us. We are vampires but we can’t roam around in the night, humans have more freedom than we do."

Jael touched his hand to his head, he thought he would have at least more time before he would start getting blamed for palers attacks, even though they have been around longer than he was alive.

"Enjoy the party, lad! It is ill-mannered to ruin such a great party with terrible news. However, since the topic is already out here when it is time to against the palers, I expect you will give your full support. It will be a shame if you are all bark and no bite."

Jael arched his head to the side, he didn’t bother to hide the nasty look on his face. The young vampire stepped backward.

An older vampire immediately stepped forward, "Forgive my son, Corbin. The young ones, always have a fire in their hearts. However, we all agree that this is something we have all been curious about."

"Lord Phelan!" Lord Garth suddenly called. "It doesn’t excuse his behavior. Curiosity or not, there is a time for that and it is obvious that it isn’t here."

"When then would we be able to ask? It has been over three months at this point. Why is it taking so long?"

"Enough!" Jael suddenly called out.

"I spent quite some time planning this. Whatever issues you might have, desist from ruining the party. There shall be a meeting soon enough to discuss this."

"Yes, your grace."

Jael nodded and Lord Phelan and his son Corbin merged in with the rest of the vampires. Jael sighed loudly, he couldn’t wait to send the lot of them out of his house.

He only said the meeting to appease them, he had no intention of doing this anytime soon.

Jael wasted no time, as soon as it was dawn, he rose from the couch and tried to flee the scene. He gave another speech to thank them all again for coming and at the same time, he had to fight the urge to tell them to get out of his castle by nightfall.

He walked upstairs as soon as he was done. He walked into his room and sat on the bed, he needed a moment to breathe. He could not comprehend how his parents had done that at most every three months.

He didn’t have any hospitality in his bone and now that it was done, he wanted them out. He took off his shirt and tossed it in the far corner of his room, not acting where it landed.

"Come in," he said before the servant could knock.

The door pushed open and his bath water appeared. Jael took off the rest of his clothes before the servant could rush out the door and soaked in.

He sat there for a while, just enjoying the warm water on his body. It reminded him of Mauve and he felt himself harden. He swore and got out of the water wiping himself clean.

The farewell party will be annoying but at least most of them should be gone by nightfall. Whoever was staying behind was doing it to their detriment.

Now, that it has ended for him- they would most likely remain there until noon -he was not obligated to be hospitable to any guest.

He missed the quiet, the only good news was if he had to do this again, there was no need to invite all the Lords. He could just invite those in charge of their estates, their offspring didn’t have to attend, or other Lords with no responsibilities.

Jael didn’t bother putting on any clothes. He placed the towel on his neck and walked toward the connecting door. He knew she would be asleep right now but that was no concern of his. He intended to wake her up.

Jael pushed open the door, and the first thing that hit him was the fresh scent. He walked closer to see her all curled up in bed, she was asleep but he doubted she had been asleep for very long.

She was pretty, her long lashes rested atop her cheeks and her hair was everywhere, just as he liked it. He could believe how small she was lying all curled up like that.

He lifted the sheets and slid in. Her eyes immediately flew open, it took a few seconds for her brain to register his presence.

"Jael," she called when she realized it was him.

She placed her warm palms on his chest and Jael felt his body heat up instantly. Whatever reason he had flown out the window as he covered her lips with his.
