Chapter 368: Let’s Get Busy

True to her word, Raine didn’t waste any time in getting busy with their arrangements. The cable car that took them to the side of the crater lake gave them a stunning view of the whole caldera where the National Park was located, and the sun’s rays angled itself in such a way that it made the whole scenery glow a warm orange in contrast to the relatively cold air of the mountain.

"It looks great, isn’t it?" Raine hummed in satisfaction. "Looks picturesque. More like a postcard waiting to happen."

"Still doesn’t look as great as you, my sweet vixen," Nathan chuckled. "Even a beautiful view such as this pales in comparison to you yourself."

Raine scoffed, turning her head away from the glass window and towards her husband. "Now that’s just cheesy. And you’re really laying it on thick, huh."

Instead of backing down from his advances, Nathan simply shrugged and smirked. "Isn’t that what you expected of me even before we got married? I’m just fulfilling my duties here." He then flashed her a shine of his white teeth as he added, "Besides, it doesn’t help that they’re all true anyway. You really are just that radiant."

Raine couldn’t help but shake her head at her husband’s cheeky words. Still, the blush on her face probably showed that his words still had an effect on both her thinking and her body.

"Let’s just get to the camping ground already," she exasperatedly sighed, her cheeks still red as she spotted where they would be staying for the remainder of their vacation. "Oh, there it is now."

As the cable car rolled to a stop, the two stepped out and breathed in the cold mountain air. In front of them, the perfect clearing for a night’s round of camping laid untouched and ready to go. Complete with what looked to be a fire pit and even an empty grilling spot, it really looked like Chad went through with his promises.

"Now this is a camping spot," Nathan nodded in appreciation. "It even looks secluded enough that not everyone knows it even exists."

"Yeah, but that’s not all," Raine pointed out, her sigh echoing out into the lake as she chuckled.

Following his wife’s gaze, Nathan couldn’t help but gasp and chuckled as yet another sight broke through the serene view. Not even a few stone steps away from the camping ground, a wooden cabin stood out against the lush vegetation surrounding the crater lake. A bit of steam came out of the waters lapping up against the shoreline, releasing small wisps of steam that coalesced into a moody fog that glowed whenever the sun’s rays hit it with its light.

"I guess I now know why he gave me a set of keys," Raine shook her head in mirth. "I asked for a camping ground, and we got an honest to good cabin to go along with it."

"Well, if anything, at least we’ll have some place safe to go to if the weather suddenly turns on us," Nathan chuckled, shining a silver light at the unexpected addition to their camping plans. "We can check it out later if you want."

"If I want? Of course, I want to. It’s already there and we have the keys, so we might as well see what it’s like," Raine scoffed, gesturing towards the cabin with her hand outstretched. "Now come. Our luxurious castle in the mountains awaits us."

Nathan couldn’t help but snort at his wife’s theatrics. "And you said that I was being cheesy," he chuckled. "What was that all about?"

Raine raised an eyebrow as she replied, "No reason. I just wanted to match your energy."

Smirking, he quickly quipped, "Be sure to match my energy later then, if you catch my drift."

"Oh, I very much catch your drift, sir," Raine suggestively winked. "Anyway, let’s head back inside and see what we’ve got."

Making their way inside, Raine nodded in approval as the cabin itself proved to be far more than what she had expected to see. As Chad had put it, they’d have everything they needed and then some. From a luxury sofa to an actual jacuzzi, the amenities present beat out even some of the more famous five-star hotels she had been too...

Which was kind of weird since this cabin was literally out in the middle of nowhere.

"This is... Isn’t this a bit of an overkill?" Nathan humorously asked as he ran his hands through the intricately carved door leading towards the kitchen. "I feel like we’re not even going camping if we had this level of comfort on our hands."

"I agree," Raine clicked her tongue in both amazement and disapproval. "I guess this marks the end of our cabin excursion?"

"If that’s what you want," Nathan deferred. "I’m more than fine with whatever you decide to do at this point."

Raine frowned in deep thought. Of course, the point of their vacation was to go out camping in the first place. Sure, staying out in a cabin could technically still be called camping, but the spirit of the outdoors just wouldn’t be preserved if it was this luxurious to begin with.

"Let’s just go back to the camping grounds," Raine hummed as she came to a decision. "We planned on camping, so we’re going camping."

"I’ll set up our tent then," Nathan nodded as if showing his approval.

And with that, the two of them left the cabin, going with their original plan of staying out under the stars and enjoying the mountain air. Working together, they put up their tent poles and created their own shelter. Day turned into night, and the roaring fire in front of them kept them warm as they laid out their mats and lazed around by the warm orange glow of the campfire.

"This is the life," Raine mumbled, snuggling up to Nathan as she felt his embrace tighten from behind her back. "A loving husband, a daughter... Everything’s just falling into place."

"Thanks for your efforts, my love," Nathan complimented into her ear. "You deserve all this goodwill coming to your life."

"Still, it feels surreal, you know? It’s really been over a year since this all began," she chuckled. "It almost feels like it’s only this last month that we actually met each other."

"You’ve gotten pregnant and had given birth already, my sweet vixen," Nathan chuckled. "That doesn’t sound like a month at all."

"Yeah..." Raine hummed in satisfaction. "Like I said, it just feels like it."

The two of them stayed in each other’s embrace, relishing the sounds of nature as they took in the stars and the ambiance around them. Eventually, however...

"I think it’s been enough time," Raine suddenly whispered, a lustful tone coming out her lips. "Let’s get busy."
