Chapter 327: Boundaries

Raine didn’t know what to expect as she walked up to the front door of their house. She was sure that Nathan had something in store for her, but she didn’t know what exactly it would be that was waiting for her behind the door. Was it some kind of a surprise? Would it be something along the lines of him preparing something special for her?

Or maybe he actually meant what he said and that it was simply them having dinner as a family? Nevertheless, she didn’t really mind. She had already come to a decision to forgive Nathan the moment he did something noteworthy tonight. And surely, he’d be able to do that as easily as giving her a hug.

"It’s me."

Knocking on her own door, Raine announced her arrival before actually using her own key to the house. It was the proper thing to do. It would also give them a bit more time if they were actually preparing something fun for her.

"I’m opening the door now," she announced.

Turning the handle, Raine walked inside and had a look around. Nothing seemed to be out of place so far, but the eerie silence only told her that there was more to this dinner than what she had expected.

Just from that, she couldn’t help but feel excited.

"Hello? I’m already here," she called out. "If this is some elaborate prank, now’s the time to spring it."

Slowly making her way to the dining room, her nose could already detect the smell of something good and delicious. She pretty much knew that both Nathan and her father were waiting for her there, but she was feeling rather giddy at the moment. She wanted to have some fun with them, and it would serve as a bit more punishment for Nathan before she inevitably forgave him before the night was over.

"Yoohoo! Where are you two?" she playfully asked, her tone clearly telling the two to let her do her thing as she took in the smells coming from her destination. "I can tell that you’ve been busy, Nathan. Did Father help you make all these things I’ve been smelling?"

A few seconds of teasing and playfully searching the house later, her stomach actually grumbled. It was then that she knew that she had overstayed her welcome, and Aire was actually telling her to just go on with it and eat.

"Over here!" Nathan called out to her from the dining room.

"Coming!"

With a spring in her step, Raine finally decided to do what she was supposed to do. Making her way to the dining room, the lights seemingly got brighter as she saw the enormous spread of food currently laid out on the table. They were all hot and steaming, just waiting for her to dig in as she couldn’t help but drool.

"Surprise," Nathan warmly greeted her. "I know you’ve been missing some of these stuff, so I asked your father for help in making them."

Tears prickled at her eyes as she took another look at the spread. Sure enough, some of the things she had been craving since her stay in Country A had been lovingly prepared. All of the classics she had enjoyed back home, along with some of the other more recent cravings she had been getting ever since she got there, were all laid out and ready for her to eat.

"Is that ramen?" Raine asked in disbelief.

"Your father told me that you’ve been craving something like it for a while now," Nathan nodded with that damn handsome smile of his. "Seeing as I knew how to make it, I made some for you."

Beside her husband, her father looked on as passively as ever. Raine would’ve been sad to see such a reaction before, but one look in his eyes let her know that he was feeling some semblance of satisfaction at seeing her reaction to their efforts.

"T-Thank you," Raine stuttered out, her emotions flaring up as she sat down. "T-This is great..."

"We did our best," Nathan chuckled. "I’m glad that our efforts are to your liking."

Shaking her head, Raine dug in. Honing in on the ramen, the tears finally began flowing as the salty goodness slid down her throat.

"A-Amazing..." she teared up. "And so many of it too?"

"We have even more in the fridge if you ever get more cravings too," Nathan meekly added. "So feel free to eat to your heart’s content."

Raine did exactly as she was told. Sampling every single offering on the table, she almost forgot that the two most valuable men in her life were still standing in front of her watching her eat.

"What’re you two doing?" she pointed out with her mouth still half full. "Sit down and eat with me."

Smiling, Nathan sat in front of her, with her father taking the side seat as they all partook in the feast before them. What little of the anger she had left for Nathan left her system immediately, practically throwing herself at him as she gave him the magic words he had been wanting to hear since he came to her.

"I forgive you, okay?" Raine cooed, her mouth still stained with soup and other foodstuffs as she nuzzled against her husband. "Just don’t do it again."

"I promise, my sweet vixen," Nathan warmly replied, his arms wrapping around her waist as he kissed her forehead. "I won’t overstep my boundaries again."

"Y-You better," Raine weakly chuckled. "I don’t wanna feel conflicted about you again for at least the next few months."

"Only for the next few months?" Nathan jokingly asked.

"I’m sure I’ll curse you out once I start feeling contractions," Raine casually chuckled out. "Before that happens, I don’t want you upsetting me too much. Because I’m sure you won’t want to add more suffering for you down the line."

Even as they laughed, the two of them shared passing glances that communicated what exactly they wanted from one another for the night. It felt like it had been so long since they shared the same bed, and they would make sure that they’d make this night count.
