Seeing as Rui’s amnesiac wife was obviously getting rather jealous of her, Raine thought about how easy things would flow to Rui’s advantage. It was a good thing that Cali had a very pleasing look, so it was alright that she enjoyed the amnesiac’s adorable look whenever she was angry. It was a way better for her than looking at the mutants shifting into their ugly forms... Ahhh- that wouldn’t be good to look at while she was pregnant.

Cali looked at her with sharply narrowed eyes as she said, "You’ll have to go over my dead body first before I let you do that!"

"Sweetie, you’re cute, but what can you do?" Raine scornfully laughed. "You better watch out, because I always get what I want. And if I want Rui..."

"Well, this time you’ll fail," Cali chided before she immediately pulled Rui out of the room, holding onto his hand tightly as they disappeared.

Raine rolled her eyes as she continued to suckle on her lollipop. She wondered just how many days it would take for her to play this act. Hopefully, it wouldn’t last more than a week or Cali might just end up pulling out her hair soon. She chuckled at her own silly thoughts before turning around, having felt the familiar presence of her father enter her personal space.

"Hmm... How long do you think a woman will need to realize her true feeling for someone she couldn’t remember?" she casually asked her father.

Blinking, Lark casually sat on the chair nearest to her. Blankly, he said, "Long..."

"Goodness, Dad... How will I let you meet my twin with you in that condition?" she chuckled. "Ah, you’re making my head hurt. You’re more complicated to deal with than those couples really."

"Let’s go home. I need to cook your dinner," her father suddenly said, somehow diverting the topic. "What you want tonight for is something that will take a bit of time to prepare."

Nodding, she stood up to follow her father outside the university. On their way back to the house, she couldn’t help but think about Nathan and how much she missed him already. She’s been trying hard to occupy herself with a bunch of stuff, and yet she felt like something was still missing simply because Nathan wasn’t with her.

"What the hell is taking him so long..." she mumbled to herself in annoyance.

The days went by quickly, and Raine had held the same routine of going to the university before back home for almost a week. But today, it was her day off from school, so she took the time to spend it outside with her father as they roamed around the best tourist spots their city could offer.

Closely observing her father, she noted that she still couldn’t see much emotion in him, if at all. Although, there was some improvement, seeing as he was starting to interact more by engaging in some casual talk with him initiating the conversation. It was good progress. Although he still didn’t have the emotions to express his feelings, he still understood the responsibility of a father to a daughter.

Currently, they were in a park with beautiful cherry blossoms. The trees made Raine smile simply from just how gorgeous the trees around them looked.

*Ring ring ring*

She immediately grabbed her ringing phone and answered it. Seeing that it was Nathan who called, Raine sported a bright smile on the screen as she greeted him. "Missed me?"

"Of course, I do," Nathan chuckled. "By the way, there are some recent developments regarding Balon. Cali already received a black rose in her locker, and Rui had already called the police which redirected him to our Umbra Agency instead."

He stressed out, "Please don’t do anything, alright? Let my men handle the situation. I purposely instructed Dan to cut you out of this case for now, so I’m the one giving them direct instructions. Just focus on your vacation with father Lark. Alright, sweet vixen?"

Raine’s face fell the more she listened to Nathan. She didn’t like this turn of developments at all.

"How dare you cut me off from my own squad!!! You may be the King of Moon Clan now, but the Moonlight Squad is the team I created from scratch without the jurisdiction of Moon Clan!" she barked out.

"Don’t you dare make a decision related to my team again without consulting me first. I’ll be hanging up this call now, and I don’t want to hear and see anything from you for at least a day, so don’t try to call me again or you will piss me off even more!"

That was all Raine said before she cut the line. Her face had a dim expression as she dialed her team for a group call.

"Cut out Nathan’s connection to the Squad right now," she angrily instructed. "If you don’t follow instructions directly from me and choose to listen to his words instead, then you’re free to leave my Squad!"

She let out a huff as she ended the call. She was so annoyed. She couldn’t believe what Nathan just did to her. "I already gave him my word that I’ll only supervise the situation, but he still did this to me," she grumbled to herself. "Why is he being so annoying in this? It’s my team, so how dare he cut me off from a case like that!"

"Relax..." her father instructed her, breaking her line of thought. "Breathe in... Breathe out... Remember that it isn’t good for a pregnant woman to be angry."

"And where did you learn that, Dad?" Raine mumbled with a pout as she tried to relax. She really didn’t want to be annoyed for too long.

"I’ve read some books and stuff about it on the internet since I want to be a good father like you wanted," Lark blankly explained. "You told me that you’re pregnant, so I studied how I can help you during your pregnancy."

Raine chuckled at the answer she got. "Ah, I’m so glad you’re at least here with me, Dad," she smiled. "You can manage to make me laugh without even trying."

"Then I am glad that I can make you laugh," Lark answered, making Raine laugh even more. He said he was glad, but looking at him saying those words like a programmed robot with a human voice almost made her doubt his comment.

"Oh, Dad... What will I do with you," Raine murmured as she rested her head on her father’s broad shoulder.
