Chapter 317: Playing a Villainess

Raine continued with her teasing... "Why, I remember back there at Yang Globals, when Dr. Xander was my target, you always gulped and be out of breath whenever I teased you... Didn’t you really like me back then, Dr. Meddler?" she giggled.

"But I guess you’ve changed now... Rather, you’ve changed ever since Cali came into your life... A few men like you, it seems, are rather loyal once they find the love of their life. I mean, look at how you’re all red with embarrassment right now. You even look annoyed by my proposal, don’t you, darling Meddler?"

Relishing his reactions, Raine laughed out loud before asking the nearest server for water. She was amused to watch Rui’s tangled expressions. He was obviously trying to evade the possibility of offending her, or else he’d end up at a great disadvantage in their current conversation. He needed her for his little act for his wife, after all.

Once her glass of water came, Raine took a sip before getting into a bit of her serious mode. Still, her tone still had a dash of teasing on them as she spoke. "How about this, since I owe you one for saving me back then, I’ll help you out this one time," she proposed. "But everything will go according to my wishes, okay? Just go ahead and dance to my rhythm... Dr. Meddler."

Saying her piece, she had a lopsided grin plastered over her face as she waited for his answer.

"Do I even have a choice?" Rui wrily replied as he shook his head. He then asked, "By the way, since when did you become a Professor?"

"Since yesterday, Doc," Raine vaguely chuckled. "Anyway, ask one more question about that and you’re not going to like my answer. Go home. Cali’s alone, and you better watch over her more carefully..."

"I know," Rui murmured. "Thank you for this..."

"Thank me later once you’ve succeeded in your plans," Raine scoffed. "I won’t be staying here for very long, but I’ll try my best to help you get your wife back while I’m still here... Now go already before I change my mind."

Taking her cue, Rui stood to leave.

"Oh, by the way, call me once Cali receives an anonymous black rose," she suddenly added.

"Huh?" Rui questioned with a frown. But before he could ask, Raine signaled for him to leave. Shrugging, he turned around and left without another word.

As soon as Rui had finally left, her father then stood up from his chair before taking a seat right in front of her. She eyed him carefully, noting the steaming cup of coffee in his hands.

"How’s their coffee, Dad?" Raine curiously asked.

"Good," Lark plainly answered. He then asked, "Will it not compromise the job?"

"Nah. In fact, it’ll even make the job a little more enjoyable now," she replied with an evil smile. "it’s actually fun to tease Rui’s woman... A possessive brat, that one.." She took another sip of her water before she added, "Also, I have a feeling that this’ll help me get nearer to those two. We need to watch them closely. That man has already suffered enough from almost losing Cali, so I’ll feel bad if something bad happens to his woman again."

The next morning, Raine had a lively class where she let every student actively participate in recitation. She was actually enjoying her role as a professor. It had been a while since she had a mission being disguised like this, and it was taking her back to simpler times before she met Nathan.

Not that she regretted it. It was simply nostalgia taking a hold of her for a good bit.

"So you see, herbs are really important," Raine explained with a wink towards Rui’s direction, acting out her role to make Cali jealous of her. "However, there are still plants out there that can also bring discomfort and cause allergies to some customers. It’s highly important that you familiarize yourself with them."

It was way too easy for her. Already, she could see how Cali’s nostrils were flaring up in annoyance. As soon as her class ended, she particularly called for Rui to stay. "Mr. Dee, stay... I have something to discuss with you."

"I’ll go on ahead..." Cali whispered before she went out.

Rui was about to follow, but Raine scoffed as she pointed out, "Don’t you dare follow her. Let her realize what her heart truly feels." She then comfortably sat on her chair and opened up a lollipop.

Rui cringed as he mumbled, "Stop eating so many sweets. You should watch out for your sugar intake."

Raine chuckled, "Are you somehow worried about me now?"

Rui shook his head at her antics. Getting impatient with the farce, he went to walk out, but Raine stopped him with a smirk. "Don’t go yet. Sit in front of me," she insisted. "Wait for five more minutes, you impatient loverboy..."

"Can’t you just call me by my name?" Rui exasperatedly sighed. "Why are you giving me another nickname?"

"Shhh..." Raine shushed him as she stood up and approached Rui with a wicked grin on her beautiful face.

"What are you doing?" Rui hesitantly asked when she leaned closer to him.

"Relax, lover boy," Rained whispered into his ear. "Let’s stay like this for ten seconds. Now count... Ten... nine... eight... seven..."

"Two... One..."

"Rui!" Cali’s voice resoundingly echoed across the empty classroom. She stood at the open door, her bloodthirsty gaze training solely onto Raine.

"See?" Raine whispered, casually flicking Rui’s nose with her finger as she smirked. "I’ll leave you two to it."

Straightening her body, Raine promptly turned around and left just as Cali had walked into the room. She was standing only about meter away from them now.

"Oh, Cali, dear. Don’t you have to attend your next class?" Raine asked with her sweetest tone. Playing a villainess simply came naturally to her.

"Rui and I both need to attend our next class," Cali reiterated.

"But Rui and I are still having fun," Raine cooed. "You go on ahead. Rui will follow you soon."

"No!" Cali asserted "I’m picking up my boyfriend right this instant!"

Raising an eyebrow, Raine turned to Rui and questioned him with a demanding tone. "Darling... Do you already have a girlfriend? Didn’t Dr. Xander tell me you were still single?"

Ignoring her, Cali walked up to Rui and immediately grabbed him by the hand. She then pulled him up from his chair.

"Let’s go..."

"Alright, darling, you can go for now," Raine candidly announced. "As long as you’re not married, I’ll still have a chance to steal you away from your girlfriend anyway." This was way too easy. She was curious about how the little brat would handle this situation.
