Chapter 251: Under Attack

Marcus’s eyes widened as he heard the voice of that blasted King play from the giant screen that was currently installed atop the altar. It was meant to display a few inane photos and entertainment for what few guests they currently had, but now it was being used by that monster to crash the wedding?

It was unacceptable!

"Yes, it is I, King Nathan of the Convel Society," the werewolf King addressed the crowd from the monitor. "And yes, I’ve come to claim what’s rightfully mine."

"Rightfully yours? You have no right to even stake your claim here," Marcus growled. "And how dare you desecrate this wedding with your foul presence?!"

Nathan chuckled as if he was actually hearing what was being said in front of him, "Why not? The Moon Clan is, by right, mine to rule. You, Marcus, are simply a false King clinging onto what little power you still have."

As if on cue, the rival King’s men suddenly made themselves known to all that were present in the garden. Marcus growled as they slowly found themselves surrounded by what looked to be a well-prepared strike force meant to pacify everyone in the vicinity.

And of course, Nathan was now leading them right from the front of their formation.

"Well, at least you’re not hiding from behind the screen," Marcus taunted. "Come to meet your demise then?"

Nathan only shook his head. "Look, all of the bloodshed can still be prevented," he reasoned out. "If you can just relinquish your title and hand over your title as ruler of the Moon Clan to me, all of this death wouldn’t need to happen."

Marcus could only blink at the incredulity of the other King’s words. "Hah! You think I’ll even believe such a claim?! You, who came here with an army looking for a fight, are expecting me to just lie down and give up?!"

By the sidelines, Janus couldn’t believe what was happening. Tonight was supposed to be the best night of his life, and yet these blasted werewolves just so happened to attack now of all times?!

"You’re not the rightful ruler of this clan and you know it," Nathan argued. "You killed my father for the throne. And ever since then, you’ve been doing your best to keep your rule uncontested."

"So what?! Just because you’re the rightful ruler means that you’ll win?" Marcus dared. "Might and cunning are still better than birthright! And I’ve proved that time and again by making sure that your monsters aren’t allowed to wipe out humanity!"

Letting out a sigh, Nathan could only click his tongue as he announced, "To each and every one of you present... If you wish to live, I suggest that you all follow me instead of this soon-to-be dead king." He then added, "Don’t let this man ruin our chance for peace between our groups. If you still wish to fight, then don’t blame us for what we’re about to do."

Immediately, a commotion rocked the entire Moon Clan compound. Those that were convinced quickly changed sides, while the others that remained loyal quickly mobilized to defend against the intruders. Those on the fence stood idle, watching as they waited on which side would prevail that night.

"You dare... You dare challenge my right?!" Marcus growled, his eyes widening with rage as he flew off into a frenzy. "You dare try to take what’s rightfully mine?!"

"It wasn’t yours to begin with," Nathan pointed out. "You stole it over my family’s flesh and blood. And now, I’m here to take it back."

The Moon Clan King quickly turned to Janus, the doctor seemingly caught out like a deer in headlights as he waited for the inevitable instructions. "Janus! Unleash the Undead on these monsters!"

"O-Of course, My King!"

Janus flew off to the sidelines, fishing out his phone and calling back to the facility. The project was still in its polishing stages, but it was more than enough to fight off the Convel Society’s invasion force.

"This is Janus! I’m requesting-"

"S-Sir! We’re under attack!" What?!

To the doctor’s surprise, the sounds of battle echoed from his phone as he listened to one of his men relay the information.

"There are two werewolves here right now," the poor assistant reported. "They’re destroying the facility!"

"But how?!" Janus cried out. "There’s no way they could even get in there unless... unless..."

"S-sir?!"

Janus blanked out as a startling realization washed over him. There was no other way for these monsters to infiltrate the facility unless they either had someone from the inside to give them access or they had the access codes themselves. And seeing as he didn’t give anyone else the codes, the only way they could’ve done would be...

"Raine..."

"Sir?! They’re-"

Janus killed the call as he began putting the pieces together. The only reason this could’ve happened was if he had accepted something that was either bugged or being surveyed. And seeing as he accepted anything Raine had to offer, it was only there that he could’ve possibly gotten said bugs.

"She.... She tricked me..."

Anger at both Raine and at himself boiled within him as he gritted his teeth. Was he that stupid?! He already knew that Raine didn’t like him as a man, and would probably try to get out of the marriage through any means necessary. He should’ve screened her gifts in the same way as he would’ve done if he acquired them through any one else! This could’ve all been avoided if he wasn’t so blinded by his own hubris!

"Dammit!" he growled.

He never expected that Raine would resort to these methods just to get away from him. Well, if that was the case, then he just had to make sure that this Nathan wouldn’t leave this place alive.

With a resolved sigh, Janus kept to the sidelines as he watched the two Kings come to a head in the middle of the garden. He might not be a fighter, but there were still some things that only he could do to turn the tide in their favor.
